I saw Viola who did an awesome job on my hair! I absolutely loved the color & the cut just felt right. (you know you can tell its a good cut when it falls into place when you shake your head) When I walked out of the salon I felt like I was ready to pose for the front of Cosmo! Go see Viola if you want an experienced beautician. I have long hair & am nervous who cuts it but she did a phenomenal job & I will definately be returning! I knew I wanted a new hairstyle, but I hadn't quite figured out what it was i really wanted yet. So I decided to stop in at Mane Event and make an appointment. They actually were able to take me that night. I explained to my stylist, Jessica, that I knew I wanted to go shorter, and probably have some layers, but other than that, I had no idea. She asked me about my haircare & styling routine and determined what she felt would work best for me and my face shape. My hair has a tendency to get curly when its shorter and she made sure to balance my cut whether I would have it straight or curly. I love my new haircut, its simple to style in the morning. Jessica did an amazing job and I will definitely go back and ask for her. more

\r \r I moved to CA from FL 4 years ago to go to school and thru these 4 years I have not found a stylist in the Bay like her. The one thing that sets Colleen apart from other stylists, in my opinion, is the way she connects with people. She took time to get to know me, to hear what I want, suggested few things, and most importantly wanted to make sure I was satisfied 110%. She asked what kind of job I was doing, where I will be in the next few months, and suggested things I didn't even think of. People if you're looking for a hair stylist go to this lady. She ROCKS! I went to Colleen for the first time last summer. My hair was very damaged and bleached blond and I had never really been comfortable with dying my hair dark. She convinced me to go dark and it ended up looking great!! She also cut my hair exactly the way I wanted. I, then, went back to her last week with a picture of the cut that I wanted. She exceeded my expectations again and gave me the exact cut in the picture. I really recommend Colleen because she knows what she's doing and will do what she thinks is best for your hair. I have never really gotten my hair cut and styled at a salon, I've always been a ""supercuts"" kinda girl. I wanted to try something different so I called to make an appt with Viola after reading such great reviews on citysearch. I have NEVER been happier with the way my hair looks! Viola did exactly what I didn't even know I wanted. I feel GORGEOUS! The salon was really clean and sassy and the staff was super friendly and knowledgable. I started going to Ivo a while ago. He has been doing my haircuts for a while now. He suggested that I do Highlights because I started to see grey hair. He started by dying my whole head a beautiful golden brown color. He then added golden honey highlights. I was amazed at how shiney and sparkley it made my hair look. Everyone I Know commented at how great I looked. I am very pleased with the results Ivo delivered. Ivo is an extremely down to earth stylist that truly cares about how my hair looked and feeled. This is my first ever review but I have to let you know about Colleen. Colleen has been doing my hair for the past few months and has always exceded my expectations. For the past few years I have been bored with my hair but also cautious to do too much to change it. \r The problem - two fold, the color wasn't as bold as I wanted plus I didn't know what I wanted. Since Colleen has been recommending new products I have been able to do so much more with my hair. Also, she promised me if I used Purology, that my color would last. Boy was she right - this last time I had to color not because my hair was brassy (as in the past) but because my roots were showing. \r \r Colleen colored my hair and it was perfect, again. As she was cutting my hair, she hesitated for a moment and said, ""Hmmm, I have an idea"". I told her she had card blanc to do what she wanted as long as she didn't bring out the clippers. Colleen went to town, I was nervous but I know hair grows back. WOW, when she was finished I looked fabulous. She captured what I have been looking for all these past years!!! I have needed her for a long time. As a true artist, give her the pallette and let her do what she does best and you will be surprised. Colleen has cut my hair better than anyone else. I have had my new hair do now for 3 days and have had more compliments than ever. If you want your hair done well, and new ideas, you have found your hairdresser -- Colleen is your choice. more

My hair is baby fine, and bone straight. It seems I am in a constant battle to get my hair submit to my will. I style it in the morning, and by lunchtime it?s flat and straight as a board again. This salon is surprisingly wonderful; it?s such a gem! I would never expect to find such a classy salon next to a Big Lots. When I come into the salon I?m always greeted and offered something to drink, Rachel is always prompt, prepped and happy to see me. We get to the chair there?s a little chat and then to the sinks and down to business! When I tell her what I want (it differs every now and then) She understands and does magnificent work. She understands the salon?s products and has given me great results that last past lunchtime (on to dinner) and volume unlike any I?ve ever seen! Her command of styling, color and product is phenomenal. I would recommend Rachel to anyone who likes great cuts, good color, and a great understanding of hair, and people. My favorite, one and only stylist Rachel is at the Mane Event, and I will always be a return customer! Pros: They do more than just hair, they are full service. Cons: The location is a little difficult to find, however once found getting there is a breeze. more

Wow let me tell you this place is absolutely fabulous. Is this the promised land? On my most recent visit there, upon entering the door I felt as if I found my own little personal piece of heaven. The atmosphere is just superb. I was greeted shortly after entering by Rachel, to whome would be my stylist on this glorious day and adventure. First was the shampoo, which was just great. Moving on to the haircut, let me just say it must be the most extravagant haircut of my life. My hair never felt so alive! Each employee was very kind and helpful to any of my needs. I will be going back on every occasion that is possible. I left there feeling revived. Goodbye my old, flat, boring hair! Pros: Everyone and everything in that place Cons: Um, excuse me?! more

I was very disappointed with the service I recieved at Mane Event. The owner of the shop was doing my highlights. After she put the chemical and foils on my hair, she had me sit in the cornor of the shop for over an hour, while she did three other peoples hair. Not once did she check how the chemicals were doing on my hair. Eventually, another girl came over and took me to have my hair washed out without the owner ever checking if the color was correct. At the wash station they left me for a half an hour. When I finally was brought back to the chair to have my hair cut, the owner was sitting in the reception area talking with other people leaving me sitting for twenty minutes. When she finally came over and cut my hair she did not do a very good job. I was very disappointed with the service and felt they charged too much for their service. I will not be returning. more

I saw Ivo for a cut and brunette base color with multi tone caramel/honey highlights - the color/highlights turned out fabulous. My cut is not that exotic (basic layers) but the color is tricky because I am really picky and my hair processes really fast. I brought in some pictures, and he listened to what I wanted and matched the colors damn near perfectly. He even spent an extra 30 mins curling my hair even though he could have just blown it out in about 10 minutes. He was really friendly, very attentive and told me when he would come back so I wasn't sitting in the chair wondering if I was overprocessing. My hair literally bleaches in the sun, so I was really worried about turning out orange, but he made me feel really comfortable and checked the color frequently. I was so happy with how it looked at the salon (rare for me, it usually takes me a while to get used to new coloring) I booked another appointment on the spot. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it was kind of pricy - $205 before tip - and it's in campbell, which is kind of a trek if you don't live or work nearby. I'm thinking the price will come down next time since I won't need as much done (just maintenance, it needed a ton of work this time because I had just come back from vacation and my hair was literally sun bleached blonde so you couldn't even tell i once had highlights). But overall I was really satisfied and am going back in 6 weeks. more

Hello to whom ever reads this. I moved From New York to LA and then to San Francisco. I have Had short hair and long, different colors, extensions etc. I have been to some great Hairstylist and Salons in these places and am not affraid to drop the money to get what I want. I wanted long hair at this time and called a hairstylist friend of mine to ask where I should get them done and he told me about this guy named Tye that he had met a couple of times that works out of Campbell. I booked an appointment for a consultation and I was very impressed. So I followed with the actual hair appointment for my extention. I have never looked so good in my life. He was very nice and sweet and funny. He even came in on his day off to do this for I had a HollyWood premier to attend the next day. Its taken me a while to write this for I had this done in Apri. of 2007. I have since been back and had them taken out and wanted Victoria Beckhams cut but for me and some fun hidden color done and he amazed me again.. You are great Tye and if you read this I told you I could get you in in LA or NY. Little note. It isnt easy to get in with him he usually booked for a month or so out and HAHA he is also usually running a little behind, but it is worth it and he always calls to let me know. He is in to what he does and is also always taking classes to update himself.. Great Job. Love Him.. Ohh and a big funny was I thought because his name is Tye that I was going to be seeing this Asian guy and well lets just say he isnt.. ILOL....I have learned with Tye to keep an open mind for he creates some amazing styles and colors which I would never had thought would look good but are. Going to Viola all of my life (since she is my mother) she is the best hair stylist ever. Being the difficult client I can be...telling her I want my hair like J.Lo or Sarah Jessica Parker or make me blonde when my hair is red, which is the hardest color to change might I add, she just does it and makes me look great. Since I've moved to New York becoming a fashion stylist for celebrities, I only trust Viola to style and color my hair. My friends in NY laugh that I fly to San Jose just to have my mom do my hair when I have access to any NY hair stylist. She is an amazing colorist and respects her craft. All of my friends go to get their hair done by Viola. I love coming home because I can't wait to have my mom make me look beautiful. I am so happy I found Ivo, again. Ivo is a great stylist. I used to go to him in san francisco. I was happy to find him working in this salon in campbell. Being located a few short minutes off of 85, On the way to my moms house in santa cruz, I make a quick detour to get my hair done. He is worth the detour, no matter were you live. My hair is long and layered and the Highlights he has recommended add texture, variation and shine. All he had promised to deliver, he did, and then some. I get compliments from every one I know. Did I mention that the atmosphere was friendly and warm? You have to give Ivo a try. IVO! IVO! IVO! I just cant get enough!!!!! Thank you Mane Event Salon and thank you Ivo. Viola has been my hairstylist for many years now and I have referred countless friends, family and even some strangers to her because of her expertise. I?ve been complemented and asked ?who does you hair?. She defiantly knows her colors and always manages to highlight my hair to look natural. Before I started going to Viola, I was afraid to get my hair cut in fear that it would be ?chopped off?. One day recently Viola encouraged me to cut it a little shorter and I?m so glad she did! Through the years it was time for a change and she gave me a new look that I am VERY pleased with. Although I do not get my hair done by anyone else, I have seen the other stylists do great work as well. I highly recommend the Mane Event salon!! more

When I first moved from Boston to San Jose, I was extremely hesitant about finding a new salon/hairstylist.....until I met Ivo (John). I don't know how I got so lucky. I googled for a nearby salon and Mane event came up, so I decided to give it a try. The first time I met him, his knowledge as a stylist allowed me to trust him and tell him to ""do whatever"" because I really valued his opinions/suggestions. My hair turned out great and Ivo really does care about me and how I look. It's always fun to go to him, it's something I look forward to doing every 6-8 weeks. And I always ONLY go to IVO, always. Try it, he is the BEST. I am sure you will enjoy him as much as I did!!! more

I'm used to going to cheap salons to get my hair done and having to pay very little. I wanted a change and my friend raves about how great Tye is so I decided to give him a chance. The first time I walked in It was pretty awkward, the staff could tell that I was a first timer, but they still seemed nice. After meeting Tye I felt more relaxed and he made it more a enjoyable experience for me. I came with a certain hairstyle in mind but didn't think I needed to bring the picture, after awhile of explaining Tye did his thing and made my hair the best I've ever seen it! I have been going to Viola for over a year and have never been disappointed in any color or cut that she has done for me. It always comes out beautifully and always surpasses my expectations. WOW!! Is the word! Even with all the responsibilities she has of being the owner, I have NEVER felt that I was not her focus. She is always concerned that I am comfortable and our conversations are always fun and upbeat and before I know it my appointment is over. I highly recommend the salon and especially Viola.
