Mama's Manna

My husband and I used Mama's Manna for our wedding reception. I have always had a desire for a lavish cake that you see in wedding pictures but due to budget and need I thought it was out of the question. Well when my mother and I went in for cake tasting and planning I was so nervous. Ed and his staff put my needs first and kept my budget in mind at all times. But the bridal cake was more than I could ever imagine. I had a 5 layer cake and they also added a fake layer for effect. Each layer was a different flavor which allowed each guest any possible option they could imagine, and we even saved the top layer for our anniversary (I will discuss this in a moment). Also I showed a picture of how I wanted the cake decorated and they did it exactly with no questions or complaints. Now my husband is a HUGE fan of Ed's cheesecakes so for his grooms cake he could not choose one flavor so instead he had 5 different cheesecakes!! I have to admit that when given the option of what cake I wanted to eat I chose a slice of his. Now flash forward one year and it is our anniversary, time to get the cake top out and eat some for tradition sake right... I knew that it would be awful, most likely tasting like something that had been in the freezer for a year. NO!! It was wonderful still, I am not sure who to thank for this my mom who wrapped it up and stored it for us or Ed's staff who baked the cake but whomever it was perfect!! Horrible experience! I find it really sad for the state of Arkansas to lack many excellent bakers. They to me just do their job to make the money rather than find joy in doing it, and catering to the needs of their customers. I am a soon-to-be bride and I asked about mamma manna's from a friend and she had nothing but bad things to say about their service. She asked them for a particular style cake and they took it upon themselves to change her mind otherwise to fit what cake they already had made. When you call into a bakery and you tell them your vision it is their job to make it come true not make it their own. If I want a bubblegum pink square and round cake I want it not a all round blue cake. When I come to pick my cake up and I say it is not what I ordered try to fix it don't be so nonchalant about it and not cater to my need for the cake of my dreams. Would I recommend them to someone like someone recommended them to me...no! My cake was not my mothers dream cake and on top of that it was very dry and crumbled as we sliced it. Horrible service took the cake, but wait the icing on the cake was the cake was even worse! Just wasn't their day maybe! If you do call in make sure to ask for a fresh cake and be very specific about what you want maybe even take in a picture. Cons: Horrible service, cakes, and was hard to find. Had to leave messages for them to call you back more
