Not sure where the value is 10/15/2009

9 years ago I took my vehicle in for work to repair what a thief had done to the door (hole punch) and center console - ripped out the stereo and bent the frame. Magnum did an ok job on the door, but awful on the console. When I went to pick up the vehicle, the frame was still bent and the stereo crooked. I argued about it - the rep said ohhhh that's as straight as we could get it or else we'd have to swap the whole dash and frame! Uhhhh yeah... so DO IT... that's what I paid my insurance premiums for. I said forget it and left and made it straighter myself. No matter to them, they got paid either way. Foolishly (after reading some good reviews [perhaps decoy planted reviews]), I went back recently for a paint quote. I tried to get a quote via the phone but the rep said he needs to see the vehicle in person. I told him the year, make, model of the vehicle. I get there and the rep looks at my vehicle. Blah blah, oh EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS. Yeah, they want EIGHT GRAND to paint a vehicle. A small sports car. He said that's the cheapest. No, he did not seem high from the paint fumes. So I wasted an hour to visit when he could of advised me on the phone that they only do work for rich people, dumb insurance adjusters, or think the job I request won't be profitable and discard my business? Well I guess the business model works for them - they have about 10 people working in their lobby. I guess those salaries must be paid somehow... Sigh. Pros: well-staffed Cons: exorbant prices, slack work more

We won't be returning as customers. 12/8/2008

While Magnum Collision does excellent body work (as evidenced by the high end vehicles that sit on their lot, awaiting repair), we have had two issues on two separate visits. The first was when we took our car for an estimate and repair. We decided to go with Magnum Collision as we had had good luck with them in the past, and the estimate was slightly lower than others. Once they began the repairs, they called to inform us that the cost would almost double. While we understand that sometimes unforeseen repairs arise, for the cost to double is ridiculous. There was no valid explanation for the price increase, so I wonder if it wasn't a bait and switch maneuver. More recently, my husband dropped off his work vehicle for repairs. He realized when he got home that his change had been stolen out of the vehicle. While it was only $10 to $15, the person who took the change took the time to take the quarters, nickels, and dimes, but left the pennies (humorous, but ridiculous). If someone is dishonest enough to steal change, what else are they taking out of these vehicles? When I called to report this, (on principle, not for reimbursement) I was told that 1. they had never had that problem before, 2. they couldn't verify this actually happened, and 3. that there was nothing they could do, but they were sorry. After two untrustworthy/dishonest incidents, we will not be returning as customers, and would caution others to think twice before hiring this company. Pros: Excellent repair work Cons: Dishonest pricing, dishonest employees more

Bad Experience 7/21/2008

Took my car to get and estimate on July 7th 08. The estimate was for replacement of the front bumper of a BMW M3 total given in the estimate was for $880.91. I took my car (7/21/08) in to get the repair work done and Chad (service writer/manager) told me that the parts have gone up from BMW...usually this is about $20-$40 difference...not in this case. He told me that the cost had almost doubled on the parts. I'm in the auto. repair industry so I called BMW and found that cost on the parts had actually gone up about $40 total on all of this. Either something sketchy is going on here or Chad screwed up and is trying to cover his butt? Needless to say I will not be taking my car there or referring any one to this place. They have cost me $200 in repairs and hours of my time. Pros: Can't give any Cons: Bad Serice and Mis-quotes more

Not the greatest 7/11/2008

I went to Magnum due to their reputation for perfection. How could one go wrong with all the BMW's, Maserati's, etc. parked out front? After three rounds of trying to get my work done right, I gave up. They have poor attention to detail and for the price, this should not be the case. I paid 2x my other estimate to use Magnum and wish I had gone with the other shop (Kong's) in the end. Pros: Clean shop and fast service Cons: Poor quality and attention to detail more

Good customer service but.. 10/9/2007

Had damage to my Porsche, and brought it to Magnum after visiting several shops. They were by far what seemed to be the most professional and courteous shop. They do a lot of work on foreign brands, but don't be fooled when you see a Lambo or Ferrari or Bentley in front of their shop, they are there for display. (you may think they did work on them..). \r The Price was about the same with the other shops I visited. \r They dropped me off at my house (some 15 miles away) after leavng my car there.\r As far as the job is concerned, the assemby was well done, everything aligned/worked well.\r The paint, was the disapointment. It had an orange tint to it..... Pros: Fast service. Cons: Paint not quite matching..(orangy) more

Mike and his team are the best - hands down!!! 3/20/2006

This is the second repair I've had done at Magnum, and you can't get a better paint job anywhere in the city! Mike's team is fast, professional, and concerned for your well-being. I don't know about others, but I hate being away from my own car. Magnum Collision had my car ready to go in just two weeks! The car had been damaged on every panel except the back liftgate (it's a BMW wagon) and they painted all around and put everything back beautifully. They did the same on my first repair, which was a BMW 740iL that had run over a truck tire on the interstate and had been very badly damaged. The paint jobs are deep and beautiful, with no ""orange peel"" look to them. If you want your car better than new, go to MAGNUM COLLISION!!! Pros: FAST, PROFESSIONAL, AWESOME Cons: There, aren't, any!! :) more

Quality good but Price high 6/16/2005

Magnum is the bodyshop that my dealership recommends. I used them once and was satisfied with the quality of their work, but their price was very high (you pay for what you get). Their customer service was average. Their timeliness was pretty good though. They quoted a little over a week and were done in that timeframe. Pros: Workmanship, Timeliness Cons: Price, Location more
