Arizona is home to some great Mexican food restaurants Someburros, and Tia Rosa?s to name a few. I?ve tried out most of them and decided to give Macayo?s Mexican Restaurant a try. The service was the only negative thing about our experience there. We walked in and were immediately greeted by a server and we got seated right away. I liked the unique atmosphere inside, you almost feel like you?re in some kind of jungle. A few minutes later our chips and sauce arrived. I was very impressed by the taste of both, but the salsa was lacking. It was very runny with no chunks of tomato or onion; overall though, very good so far. A while later we were asked to order. I ordered the Bean Baja burrito. It was a fried burrito served with white Baja sauce on top with a side of beans, and small salad. As I was waiting I was thinking how delicious my burrito would be. We kept eating the chips and salsa until 30 minutes later, when our food finally came out! Honestly, I wasn?t that hungry anymore because of the salsa. However, this burrito was great! It was crisp and tasted awesome. The Baja sauce complimented the rest of the burrito fantastically. Overall, Macayo?s is a great restraint, but avoid going if you are looking for a quick lunch or dinner, because the service will hold you up a bit. All in all, I will be returning very soon.
