Best

We had a gift card and came here for dinner: amazing food! (especially since our gift card covered most of the bill)\r \r They have great appetizers and drinks for $5. All of ...

Worst

i used to like the place but its been getting really weird lately...everyone is pretty promiscuous looking - i don't understand why they dont monitor who they let into the club.

Too BIG of a place with a complicated menu 10/12/2007

Not sure where to begin. I was meeting some people at MINX for dinner and drinks. Walking to their front door I noticed a ""B"" sanatation grade hanging there. I'm thinking what kind of nice place gets a ""B""? As I met my friends at the bar, I asked the bartender for a dinner menu. I was then told if we wanted dinner we had to sit at a table. As I looked around a bunch of empty tables, I would think the bartender would want the business. We changed our minds about having dinner since none of us could understand their ""global cuisine menu"" anyways, we decided on just drinks. It must be a fun place to work as I noticed a guy with a chef coat having drinks with the manager on duty right there with him. Overall, it's too big of a place, with a hard to understand menu, and the staff all looked unhappy. Except for the manager and chef, as they had cocktails in their hands. Pros: good drinks Cons: poor management on floor, ""B"" on their door more

Had two very good experiences 9/19/2007

I have been there twice in about a six month span. Free entry if you have dinner so I didn't deal with the lines, they did seem long and there were two lines outside. Valet parking was easy, right in front. I love eating out and I have to say that the food was very good. There were four of us who went on both outings so we shared of taste of each other's food (Steak, Salmon, Sushi etc.) There wasn't one that was better than the other, we all agreed. Then after having dinner we went to the club area. There are two loactions, the first is inside where they play a mixture of Hip Hop, R&B etc. The outside patio is the more retro side Flash backs like Morissey etc. So there are two kinds of crowds in this place which I think was nice. Two Bars and both served reasonably priced drinks and were pretty good to average. The staff was pretty nice. The decor was really nice, they have a very nice view of city lights over the patio side. Both times were a good experience. more

This place is a joke! 8/14/2007

I have to say this place was the cheesiest place I've ever been to in LA. They try really hard to re-create Hollywood or Sunset Strip...but don't pull it off. We (4 of us) went on a Saturday night...showed up before 10, we were put on the guest list prior and still had to wait in the longest line ( 45 min. wait). We were told to move from line to another and then put back in the line we were originally in! A lot of hoopla for nothing! The girl working the lines was obnoxious and acting like we had to hurry in order to get in...Once inside, I did like how they had two dance floors, however the patio dance floor is way to small, crowed and all the Latinos can't be that close with out a fight breaking out! Then you have security pushing and knocking people over to get to the fight. They put on a good show! But completely obnoxious and annoying. The second dance floor was inside and played hip-hop...the music was alright...I like the cabanas. Pros: cabanas Cons: everything else... more

Gorgeous decoration, cool atmosphere, LONG guest list line 8/14/2007

I was told that the guest list closes at 10:30 so my group of friends and I headed out well before 10 since we live very close by. There were a couple of lines and I didn't know which was for the list so I asked one of the bouncers. He turned around, looked me up and down as if I had done something wrong and pointed to the longest line. The line was nothing but guys and a few couples. One of the men that worked for the club would walk up and down the line letting in only groups of girls that came alone. Most of these girls were trashy looking but that didn't matter because they got in free. So by the time were got up to the front of the line, the list had closed and we all had to pay $20. I couldn't believe it. I think it was done purposely so we all had to pay full price because once 10:30 pm came along, the line started moving. The drinks were expensive and any drink that had redbull in it was like $15. There's only one dance floor but dancing but the music was cool and the fun atmosphere made me forget I had just paid $20. One bad thing is when you ask for water, they sell you Voss water in the glass bottle and charge like $20. Lame and bogus! Pros: Its a beautifully decorated club, music is cool Cons: Too expensive, line too long, bouncers are jerks more

Worst service, highest prices, dumbest employees and managers you will ever see! 8/10/2007

This place is empty at lunch and weeknights for abvious reasons - horrible service and very pricey. \r \r Weekends - focus is the night club. But still - service is horrible, unorganized. Girls only valley employees take an hour to get to you and 2 hours to get your car back. The security - outsourced to most ignorant and unorganized ideots!!! Rules change as they please. \r \r Managers are even worse! \r \r And I guarantee that the previous good reviews were writen by ""their people""! Pros: Nice decor - they did spend $4,000,000 Cons: You do not enjoy your stay more

Good range of 80''s music 2/20/2007

The decor, I've got to say is great...service is great...but the menu is limited with items only the chef knows about...the plates are not too pricey but I don't think i got my money's worth....the music was great 80's...the outside patio can get crowded quickly....it's a cool place to hang out but i would recommend grabbing a burger at the in'n out next door, instead of wasting your money on their food... more

I've Never Been Compelled to Write a Review Before 2/20/2007

but dear god! the women on friday night...jeez! had 7o'clock reservations, arrived more like 8:00. The manager at the desk was gracious and very accomodating. Seated within minutes even though I was an hour late. I'm not a food critic! I'm not even that educated on food. I grew up eating pot-roast. But when I sat down I felt like there were a dozen different experiences I could have had. We chose to start the night off with shots. Probably a little boarish for the couple sitting next to me but I don't give a *$%#. We ordered about 4 rounds of food. It was more than enough for a small batallion. My favorite was the New York Steak. Buttaaa! The server was a dork - but he never let us go without...the service was actually great. We ventured into the nightclub - that we didn't know they had before we were to head out to Silverlake for bar hopping. We stayed all night with the possibly the cutest group of girls i've ever met. This place is something out of vegas! We rocked it there for the rest of the night. Hey DJ - there has to be an OFF button on the friggin fog machine; use it! Go to Minx and I hope you have as much fun as we did. Get the New York steak. Pros: the crowd is very nice, the people who work there are great too Cons: the over worked fog machine more

Nice bar lounge atmosphere - cabanas are great 2/19/2007

This is a very cool place. After having driven past this place under contruction (used to be the Rusty Pelican), my friends and I meet here for Happy Hour after work often. We like that it is trendy-looking and very un-Glendale. Also it is very easy to get to being off the 134 and the 2 freeways, and a short shot up from the 5 fwy. Happy hour drinks are tasty and the food is also tasty. Our service has been just fine though there are not a lot of people there yet at 4:30 or 5:00 during the week. Also we are able to self-park. Sitting out in one ot the cabanas is cool and very relaxing, and you get a more exclusive feeling with the curtain drawn, though not completely private. We haven't been for dinner though but when we have left Happy Hour it seems busy enough. It has the atmosphere of being on the more trendy Westside or Hollywood scenes but without the hassle if you don't live on that side of town. It is also more accessible than most of the trendier places in Old Town since there is parking on site. more

girls in rings? 2/17/2007

went for valentines day. expected to spend my most recent paycheck on dinner. made last minute reservation so didn't know what i was in for, never even heard of this place before....it was possibly the best valentines dinner expierience i've ever had. girls in rings in the air?? what?! very cool - sorta burlesquey-acrobatty??dont know how to describe it. also a live lounge act with female singer...(who was prettier than my date). food was okay, a little too aggressive for my tastes and too much food and the timing could have been better but i really thought they did a great job with everything. service was surely some of the best i've had in LA. very cook decor too. i'll be back. Pros: cool entertainment, food portions, let me keep some of my money Cons: a little noisy more

Too much to say... 2/16/2007

I have too many bad stories about this place so I'll just leave recommendations.\r \r 1.) Don't get bottle service.\r 2.) Don't show up after 10pm on a Saturday night.\r 3.) Don't expect good service/treatment.\r 4.) New rules are made on the spot when speaking to an employee.\r 5.) Expect a 1 hour wait for valet service. \r \r 6.) Stay away before you regret it.\r \r TERRIBLE Pros: Nice decor Cons: Everything else more

Worst fine dining's service experience 2/15/2007

They have most horrible service. My group went on Minx's on Valentine day. We made reservation at 9:45PM. We came on time but the table was not ready. They promised to us we will have our table in 15 minutes but we waited for 45 minutes and no one from management taking care of us. Finally we got our table. We got our table outside(not they promise in the beginning) and the table setup was terible, so we had to be crammed. to be continued.\r Also before we made reservation, we asked specifically if they served a regular menu on that day. They said they were serving regular menu. But we found out we cannot order regular menu. We complained to the manager but the manager didn't care our situation. So we decided to leave. I didn't enjoy the service on this restaurant at all. Pros: OK place Cons: Terrible service more

All the good things about Hollywood clubs, with very little of the bad stuff. 1/18/2007

My friends and I went to Minx last Friday night - we live nearby and none of us had been there before. Normally Friday and Saturday nights out for us include a trip to Hollywood. Minx was a fresh breath of air!!! It was easy to valet, we got right in with no cover charge. The bartenders are friendly and fast and there was a ton of people there. I have to say - I'll be there next Friday! Pros: Fast Friendly Service, Valet, No line - but lots of people inside! Cons: They don't open the patio on Fridays... more

THIS PLACE ROCKS!!!!! 1/17/2007

I have to be honest, I did not expect much in Glendale. I have been to some good neighborhood bars but nothing that can compare to this place. They have outdone themselves. From the moment you walk into the place you get the feeling that you have stepped into another city. The place is gorgeous. We had dinner first, that by the way was fantastic, and then decided to stay for the club. We had so much fun we called ten of our friends and talked them into coming to the club as well. We had a blast and we will definately be back! Pros: Beautiful decor. Cons: Valet may take a while. more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE 1/14/2007

This place is possibly the worst place I have visited. First off, the service is inexcusably rude! After buying 3 drinks, the bartender had the nerve to ask for an increase on her tip. What this place forgot to recognize is the location. This is the worst place anyone can put a club yet alone charge so much for entrance fees and drinks. Worst food if you go during the week. If you want to have it all, visit Sunset where all the great restaurants and clubs are located. Do not waste your time, energy and sanity on this place. You will be disappointed. Pros: NOTHING Cons: EVERYTHING more

Minx Delivers (Not Related to Minxx Las Vegas I was sad to find out) 1/11/2007

usually i avoid busy nights at restaurants in LA. i hate crowds and the sceney type A's. think it was my first time in glendale too. food was amazing. server was hot and bemusingly intellignet. club was outrageous. music level hurt me the next day. we did the bottle service thing and paid for it, but was well worth the fun and memories. celebrated a birthday and new years in one night. for me, i had a great time and will definitely be back. still laughing about the night's events on the dancefloor. been to tryst, rain, body english, all of them...minx is as good as any of the clubs in vegas! maybe more. go, go, go. and ask for the hot waitress. Pros: hot staff, great music, delicious food Cons: valet took a bit more

Not all that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1/8/2007

The food was ok but very very overpriced, the drinks were nothing to brag about either and were also overpriced, the service was HORRIBLE, we asked our server for water 5 times, I am not kidding, we were told the Bar was really backed up!! Excuse me all we wanted was water with our meal, We decided to order a second round of lousey drinks and that took another hour or so. Theres too many GOOD resturants in L..A. to waste a time and money at Minx. Pros: Nice decor Cons: Overpriced, terrible service more

Avoid on New Year's Eve/Too pricey!! 1/3/2007

This place is way too overpriced. Drinks and food are outrageous. Are they serious?? For a night of clubbing this place is decent but avoid this place during New Year's. The customer service was horrible as well as the $40 we paid that only included entry fee and lousy party favors. No drinks or food were included in this price. We waited in line for 1 hour in the freezing cold even though we were told we would be in at 9 pm. I felt ripped off and I did not enjoy myself. Pros: Great place to go dancing Cons: Bad service, too pricey more

Best Happy Hour in Los Angeles 12/30/2006

Stopped in on a whim to take a break from traffic and was pleasantly suprised. The Happy hour menu was interesting and half off as well as the reasonably priced cocktails. I started with the calamari which was incredible and probably the best mojito in town. I decided to order from the regular dinner menu while watching the sunset and the traffic- which wasn't moving. I ordered the australian fish with mashed potatoes and was told that the chef fedexs the fish from australia directly! This is a must try restaurant, I will definatley be waiting out the traffic at minx often! Pros: Very reasonably priced, sunsets, amazing food and drinks more

The most fun we have had in a long time! 12/15/2006

We celebrated our anniversary with ten of our friends. It was the perfect meeting ground for those of us who live in Hollywood and Pasadena. The menu was awesome and the food lived up to our expectations! I highly recommend the filet mignon with hazelnut & cocoa nib crust, pan fried lobster appetizer and the white chocolate- macadamia nut skillet cookie. Our server was very attentive and walked us through the new wine list that was recently put into place. Later we stayed for the nightclub and as a dj, i can be pretty critical of what's spinning. Most of the the tracks were pretty common, but the dj did have some tricks up his sleave! Overall, my friends and I had an amazing time, we highly recommend it to anyone! Our waiter recommended that we try MINX for Brunch, so we made reservations for next week! It's worth the ten minute drive from Hollywood, and would be worth the drive if it were an hour! Check it out, have fun and take a break from the usual sunset strip or Hollywood scene! You won't regret it! Pros: Food, Decor, wine list, specialty drinks, easy parking Cons: people think Glendale is further than it really is! more

Hey management, relax it's only Glendale 12/12/2006

I've been to Minx twice and had dinner one time. The decor is really nice and the place is huge. We took a cake for a party of 20 and management wanted to charge $3 for a slice when the cake itself wasn't worth that much. The waiter who was really nice said I'll do it for $1-I never knew you could bargain at a restaurant. I had the filet which was really good but pretty small. The drinks were pretty nasty and the DJ was playing really bad music that nobody had heard of. You can also smell In 'n' Out from the outdoor patio all night long since it's right next door. Would recommend once if you're in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to go I prefer Hollywood ( especially since that is the vibe they're trying to create). more
