On March 21, 2011, I went to M. Simon Furniture to purchase a simple recliner. I expected a simple pain-free purchase but this turned into one of my my worst retail decisions I have ever made. While at the store I found a recliner that I liked on the sales floor. Unfortunately, it had already sold and the store had to order one for me. At the time of my purchase, I was told by the salesman that the recliner should be in by the first of April. I went to the store on Saturday, April 2 and was informed by our salesman that the chair would arrive in a couple of weeks and he had no idea why he had told me it would be in by the first of April. He told me that he would follow up on the status of the chair and then call me back on Monday to let me know. No one from the store called me on Monday, April 4 to follow up about our chair. This was two weeks from the date of purchase. So, my wife called the store later that week to follow up on the status of the chair and was told it would arrive around April 15. On April 15, my wife called back to the store to follow up and the lady who answered the phone told her that the chair would arrive at the store on Friday, April 22. I called the store again on Monday, April, 25 and spoke to the salesman again. He informed me that the chair was still in transit and would arrive sometime later that week. At this point I began to doubt this chair even existed so, I asked him if I could cancel my order. He told me that he could not cancel the order because it was already in transit. I asked what my options were and he informed me that I had none and that he would call when the chair arrives to set up a delivery time. Once again, the salesman was unable to commit to a delivery date and was very unhelpful. (I am convinced at this point that since I prepaid for the recliner the store has no motivation to get the recliner to me because they already have my money).
