I was a new patient at Lyndhurst yesterday and I have to say that I will not be going back. One of the receptionists (Leigh) was hardly friendly and said all of 10 words to me the entire time I stood there. No ""Wecome to Lyndhurst, nice to meet you"" or even so much as a ""Hello"" with a friendly smile."" I've worked in a medical office before as front desk/check out desk and we were trained to be very friendly and inviting to ALL patients, but especially our new patients. It makes a BIG difference when the first person the patient sees makes a good impression through genuine kindness. My appointment was with D. Zimmermann (PA-C). This was only my 2nd time going to the GYN - I had moved from Raleigh to Winston and needed my annual exam. The nurse asked quite a few questions and was informed that I am not sexually active (I am a virgin - waiting til marriage) and that I wanted to talk about my birth control (which I take for PMS/headaches/acne) and how it was affecting my mood and overall ""desires"". When the PA came in she apparently didn't know any of this because she asked me about whether or not I was on birth control, I said yes that I wanted to talk to her about it and how it makes me feel and my lack of ""desire"" because it doesn't feel normal to me. She started talking about how switching BC can help but some women just have to go to condoms and blahblahblah. If she would have looked at my chart, she would have known that I have no need for condoms because I'm not sexually active. She starts my exam and makes small talk through the ENTIRE thing... maybe that works for SOME people but NOT for me. I want to know what the doctor is doing before its done... I want to feel COMFORTABLE and CALM and I think its the doctor's responsibility to notice whether or not you are calm or anxious before they start. Well, I was very far from being comfortable and I almost jumped out of the chair when she started.... MAYBE it would have helped if she would have known that I've never had sex before. Only after my exam is when she found this out. And she seemed perplexed by the fact that I have chosen to not have sex but I am concerned about my ""desire."" OK-- you ladies don't have to be doctors to know that every woman whether she is sexually active or NOT should still have a DESIRE and would be concerned if there was a lack of it - especially if they have a boyfriend. \r My first GYN Doctor approached me TOTALLY differently than Zimmerman did.... my experience with Zimmerman was not good at all. She is a nice lady.... but you could tell that she just wanted to do my exam and leave - she made no effort to really listen and talk with me about birth control, no effort to make sure I was comfortable, did NOT ask the questions that she should have so she didn't know what kind of patient she was dealing with. I cannot speak for the other Doctors at Lyndhurst and what kind of experience you might have with them, but I was very displeased with my experience as a whole - so I will not be going back and I would not recommend this place. more

HANDS DOWN THE WORST EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD OVER A YEARS TIME WITH THIS OFFICE. I HAD STARTED GOING HERE WHEN I WAS 18 AND WENT TO HAVE MY FIRST PAPSMEAR. WHEN I TOOK A HOME PREGNANCY TEST AND IT WAS POSITIVE I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THEM TO CONFIRM I WAS PREGNANT AND GET EVERYTHING STARTED. I SEEN DR. WASHBURN THE FIRST TIME AND FOR THE FIRST 20 MINS ALL WE DID WAS ARGUE THAT I WAS NOT RPEGNANT BECAUSE I WAS STILL ON MY PERIOD. ONCE I TOLD HIM TO HUMOR ME BY DOING A URINE PREGNANCY TEST, IT CAME BACK THAT I WAS INDEED PREGNANT AND I WAS ABOUT 3 MONTHS ALONG. ONCE DONE WITH DR. WASHBURN I WENT TO THE CHECKOUT DESK AND THE LADY HANDED ME A CARD AND SAID THAT SHE HAD SET ME UP AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING. I LOOKED AT THE CARD, IT WAS FOR THE ABORTION CLINIC RIGHT DOWN THE ROAD. I POLITELY HANDED IT BACK TO HER AND SAID THAT I DID NOT NEED THIS OR THE APPT. SHE LOOKED AT ME CONFUSED AND ASKED "" WELL YOU DON'T WANT TO KEEP THE THING DO YOU?"" I WAS APPAULD. I TOLD HER YES I DO PLAN ON KEEPING MY CHILD AND THAT BOTH ME AND MY FIANCE ARE BOTH VERY EXCITED. SHE WENT ON TO LECTURE ME BY TELLING ME THAT I HAVE MY WHOLE LIFE AHEAD OF ME AND THAT THIS WILL BE VERY HARD ON ME FINANCIALLY WISE CONSIDERING I WAS STILL IN HIGHSCHOOL. I WAS 22 YEARS OLD AT THE TIME AND HAD NOT BEEN IN SCHOOL FOR ALMOST 6 YEARS!! I SAW DR. POLLARD THE REST OF MY PREGNANCY AND I ADORED HIM. HE WAS VERY KIND AND CARING ABOUT MY PREGNANCY AND SITUATION. HOWEVER AS AN OVERALL OFFICE THE STAFF AND MOST DOCTORS ARE VERY RUDE AND ACT LIKE YOUR PROBLEMS ARE NOT A CONCERN AND ARE NOT A BIG DEA. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!!! more

i went here when i was pregnant. it wasn't a great experience. i hated it actually. they made me wait 2 weeks when i made an appointment for an ultrasound (i was almost 8 weeks at the time). then, i began spotting and cramping about a couple days after i made the appointment. i called the nurses and they just seemed uninterested and they said that both spotting and cramping was normal. i had to pretty much scare them and they had to make an appointment for me when i told them i felt like i was having contractions at that point and my bleeding was like a full on period. that's when i found out i was miscarrying. the ultrasound tech made no eye contact and didn't even sound sympathetic. i mean, even though i was numb about it at the time.. i felt like what i was going through was nothing. i do not recommend this place at all. i will go to hawthorne next time i'm pregnant. i refuse to go back to lyndhurst. so frustrating. more

my bad experience yesterday. 11/18/2011

I had my son delivered by Dr. reynolds in 2005. Too bad she on maternity leave or I have her. I usually have Dr. pollard, but I had Dr. Jacobs last night to be checked to see if I have strep throat. I waited in the room for almost 30 mins when he finally came in. Not very friendly, no eye contact and treated me like im stupid. I have 2 boys already I know my body! I was finally told today that I have no strep from my lab results (I had to call them) since it came out negative I cant be given anything for it. I seriously doubt that I dont got strep throat. At least give me something to kill off whatever this is. If Dr. Pollard wasn't such a good Doctor and a few others, I would not be a patient there anymore. It's funny how when the Dr's nurses are nice the Dr is rude, but when the Dr is nice the nurses are rude. please be picky who your Dr is. more

33 Years of Excellent Healthcare 11/8/2011

I have been a patient of Dr. Harold Pollard of Lyndhurst OBGYN for over 33 years now. I will continue to be Dr. Pollard's patient until he retires or I (kick the bucket). In any event, how many doctor's offices can you go to (especially a practice as busy as an OBGYN office) and your doctor remember's your name even though you may only see him once a year? Dr. Pollard delivered two of my three children and has always been intetested and concerned with my physical well being as well as my overall happiness. He is never in a rush to get me in and out and has always taken the time to listen to any of my concerns. Dr. Pollard, if I haven't told you, ity's been a GREAT 33-years and I look forward to many more! Thank you and Lyndhurst OBGYN for the excellent care I have received and know that I will continue to receive. May you all be blessed with good health, happiness and prosperity! more

Rude 11/1/2011

I HATED this place. I just had my first (and last) appointment with this practice today. My last 3 pap smears have come back showing ""atypical cells"" so after my most recent visit to my general practitioner they referred me to Lyndhurst to figure out what was going on. The receptionists and all but one of the nurses I came into contact with were unfriendly, unsmiling and just not very nice people. Here I am, sitting there worried I'm gonna have some kind of cancer or something and I can't even get a friendly word from anyone?? When I finally got to see the Doctor he just totally topped off the visit by being completely rude. He told me that I actually didn't need to have a colposcopy or biopsy done because the atypical cells were so mild. Really? I just had to take the day off of work to come in here so you guys can tell me you're not even going to do anything?? After he told me that he went on to say ""if you're going to continue to have s*x the best thing to do is put a layer of latex between you and the other person until he walks you down the aisle."" All I could muster to say was ""Whatt??"" Then he said ""and if the guy has a problem with it he shouldn't have the privilege of having s*x with you in the first place."" Now let me just clarify something here. I am a 24 year old woman and am s*xually active with ONE person who I plan to marry. So can you please tell me why this doctor is talking to me like I am some kind of s*x crazed teenager? He didn't ever bother to ask me how many people I was s*xually active with before going on this rampage nor did he bother to ask how serious of a relationship I was in with the person I was s*xually active with. After I was done getting verbally attacked by this doctor I got to pay a $35 copay. Man, thanks. I just paid a doctor $35 for being nothing more than a total jerk to me. more

Not so great. 5/17/2010

I was delivered 31 years ago by this practice, and saw them up until my late 20's. Cons: Not caring, left me in pain for years. more

Best OB-GYN in my experience! 5/2/2008

I first starting going to Lyndhurst OB-GYN 25 years ago, before the birth of my first child. Down through the years, some things changed but my experiences with this group have been nothing but positive. There are some of the original doctors I saw back in the 80s still there and new doctors have been added, some of them female physicians. Every time I go, the staff is very friendly and act like they are glad to see me. I recommend this group of doctors highly to anyone looking for an OB-GYN! Pros: Good doctors, friendly and helpful staff more
