I have been buying cakes from Lucy's for about 30 years, and with 6 kids and 12 grandkids I buy lots of cakes for our celebrations! They always do a wonderful job, they are reasonable, and EVERYONE loves the more

So its early in the morning and I call for the price of a cake no big deal a simple cake and I do mean simple. Then my next question is how much for the next size up, he says""please hold"", I hear a click and Bill starts saying ""she would not shut up"" and he goes on asking where would I like it delivered and he asked for my phone number and my name. This whole time he did not realize the line never clicked over to the other person and that he was still talking to me. Did I order a cake you wonder? NO. more

I went to Lucy's cake shop expecting the best cake and service since I always hear good remarks about it and see the long lines awaiting cake pick-ups. I ordered a tres leche cake for my son's birthday party. When everyone first saw the cake, they all thought it was so pretty and looked yummy. Then next comes the slicing of the cake. When you cut into the cake, it was more frosting than cake! Almost everyone had to rub some of the frosting off. Then the taste and texture of the cake. The texture was very soggy midway through the cake, as if it had been sitting out too long. The flavor was bland. The frosting, to some of the guest, tasted as if it was almost sour. Not one of our guest to the party said anything positive about the cake. It was definetely not worth the time or money. It was the first and last time going to Lucy's cake shop! more

Have gone to Lucy's in San Antonio for many years. I go to them because I am not capable of doing the work they can do. The cakes have great taste and when I buy a basic cake for morning coffee at the office they are as inexpensive as the grocery store but much better taste. They help so many people with cakes that I don't know how they do it all which if I had a complaint it would be that sometimes you have to wait in line to get helped but that is a small price to pay. I was surprised to see some negative comments on other sites. I have over hear the request that people make of Lucy's and when the clerk says they don't provide that service some customers get really nasty. Its like just because they have money a business should say yes even if they don't do that type of theme cake. I know I have always been happy with what they have done for my family but I'm sure they are not perfect, Who Is? An older gentleman in line with me heard me complain about the quality and price of a product while in line at a hardware store one day. He said he understood my disappointment however he said I should consider two things: 1) If I was not happy with what I was buying then I should go home and make it better, 2) If I was not happy with the price I should go home and make it cheaper, Then he said that if I was unable to do items 1 or 2, myself then I should just pay the price for that quality at that price and consider it a convenience. Well at first I was ticked off at what he had said but as I drove on that day I realized that the older man had made some pretty good sense. I had meant for this to be a quick review but reading about people who want perfection when they are not willing to do the work themselves really ticks me off, sorry! more

I couldn't beleive my ears while I was standing in line to order a cake this past week. The manager stood there in front of other customers, she was chastising this young lady for a complaint she made about them. Really? If a customer is unhappy, well then they are unhappy. The manager's voice continued to be raised throughout the time while I was there. The young lady hardly had a chance to speak. It makes you wonder who was really upset. Well this upset me, this will be the last and final cake I order fromt his place. They lack professionalism. more

My daughters 1st Bday Party....need I say more about the importance of this cake. I was extremely excited to order my cake from Lucys as this was the shop to get your cake from if your from the south side. Hell no! Never again! They got the cake order wrong. I ordered a strawberry bread cake and they gave me a white bread cake. I was a little annoyed, but I was sure if I went back the next day they would refund the overage I paid for the pink cake that I didnt get. The girl at the front counter said ""I need proof"" LOL ok so I went to my car and got my camcorder out and showed footage of us cutting the cake....she unhappily began the refund process and this bald man who claimed to be the owner came up and said ""whats going on"". She explained all that had happened, and he looked me straight in the face and said ""not a big deal, I put out 300 cakes this weekend so if I messed up one, its not a big deal."" I said well it was my only childs 1st Bday so it was a big deal, he nodded his head and repeated ""NOT A BIG DEAL"". I told him I would never bring my business back, and he said thats not a big deal either. Niether of them apologized for the error. The cakes arent even great, they should speak to people with more respect and understand that usually cakes are ordered for ""special occasions"" so every one they make should be a big deal! I've been all about Lucy's cakes since I was a kid. My parents bought me a cake from there for my first cake when I was tiny. I have fond memories of the shop and the cakes. Pros: unfortunately the cakes ARE good, too bad service lacks Cons: horrible service, bad parking, lazy people more

I ordered a cake from this place, they couldnt find my order, they kept telling me that the order wasnt finished. i spent 45 minutes on the phone trying to convince this lady that my husband put an order and she kept saying its incomplete! she never looked for it! my husband had to call, he spent other 35 minutes until this lady went to re-check again, and she found it... i spoke to the manager and her excuse was ""sorry we have too many orders"" ans she kept arguing with me! how is it my fault that there are too many orders???? I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL! THEY HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Cons: MANAGMENT IS CARLESS OF CUSTOMERS NEEDS more
