Makes my dog happy! 3/25/2010

My dog has gone for day care a few time/week for several months. She is always excited to get there and eager to go inside, and she's happy (and tired) when I pick her up. I check out the web cam and everything I see gives me confidence that she is safe and well cared for. I definitely recommend Luck Dog. Pros: Professional, friendly staff; happy dog. Cons: ??? more

Lucky Dog is Heaven for Dogs! 2/8/2010

I won't take my dogs anywhere else! 2/8/2010

I have been taking my year old lab to Lucky Dog 5 days a week for almost a year. She loves it! She has come home with a couple of scratches over that year but guess what! She is a dog, and she is playing and having fun! She has done much worse just playing in the yard! There is always 2 people in the room supervising the dogs so I know that my dog will always be well supervised. Lucky Dog also has great training classes! And the best of all is that Lucky Dog Retreat (aka Robin Herman, owner) has saved over 70 dogs from Animal Care and Control and gotten them adopted out and many of those people bring them back to Lucky Dog! These are 70 dogs that would have been euthanized otherwise! Great Job Lucky Dog!!!! Pros: Excellent owner, excellent staff, dogs always supervised more

Great place! 2/8/2010

I have four dogs and they absolutely LOVE Lucky Dog Retreat! The live webcam is GREAT! I love being able to check up on my 'kids' while they are playing at Day Care! I love the supervision the dogs get too! It is wonderful being able to drop the dogs off in the morning and know they are well-cared for all day! Pros: My four dogs LOVE it! more

Best place in Indy for dogs!!!! 2/7/2010

Lucky Dog Retreat is the best place in Indy, period, for dogs!!! We've been taking our dogs there for three years and they absolutely love going there. Since Lucky Dog has a big, open play area and does NOT kennel the dogs during the day, our dogs get tons of exercise and come home exhausted every day. And when we go out of town it's the only place we'll let them stay overnight. The staff love dogs and it shows (they're even trained in canine CPR). We've never had any problems. And to top it all off, Lucky Dog shelters rescue dogs until they find permanent homes. Best place for dogs in Indy! Pros: Expert staff, big play area, love of animals Cons: None more

Not a good place for your dog 12/13/2009

I took my dog to the Lucky Dog Retreat about 3 times. My dog is a well behaved 1yr old that has been socialized with other dogs since she was born. People that I work with told me they had horrible experiences with Lucky dogs daycare and boarding but I brushed it off and continued to board her overnight there. The second time she stayed there she got bit on the ear but I figured thats what happens when dogs play all day. The last time I boarded her, several days ago, I picked her up and didn't notice anything. After she woke up from sleeping all day I noticed she did not want to walk. I looked at her feet and the pads on her paws were completely worn off and raw. Every time anything touched her sore covered paws she would start shaking uncontrollably from the pain. I had to wrap all of her paws up becuase she was in so much pain and its going to take a long time for them to heal. I called lucky dog and the person in charge said that it was not their responsibility because they aren't a kennel and was quite rude. She said it wasn't there fault that she runs around the entire time she is there. When I dropped her off I had specifically told them that since she got bit the last time to put her up for a time out if necessary. I worked as a vet tech for many years and it is a fact that you must be aware of every dogs physical state in order to conduct a safe business. I was under the impression that when you pay someone to watch your dog that they would be responsible?!! Go ahead and spare yourself and your dog the pain and find a place that actually cares about the animals that stay there. Cons: Not enough supervision more
