Loved the pan pizza here!!

Worst

I know it takes time to make a good pizza, but after an hour+ wait, and the waitress still got the order wrong! The pie tasted good, but I'll never visit this place again. ...

Bad Customer Service for over 20 years 9/21/2008

IMy family and I had been a customer of Louisa's for over twenty years. We loved their pizza but we never had good servicefrom the staff. Any friends or family would often comment either when we were there or when we were leaving that the service was bad and they weren't friendly. Recently, we had an exceptionally bad experience. I went to Louisa's with my family for my birthday. We ordered pizzas and waited for over an hour for the pizzas. When the waitress came to the table with two of our pizzas, she told us that they forgot to put the third pizza in the oven. She asked if we still wanted it and we of course said yes. She said it would be out in about 20 minutes. No apologies were given for the delay. When we received our bill, we thought there would be some kind of apology or adjustment to the bill but there was not. My husband spoke to Louisa's daughter and explained to her we had been customers of theirs for over 20 years and how we have referred many family and friends to the restaurant. A few moments later, another waiter, not associated with our table, came over to our table and said ""Louisa asked me to come over. It is my understanding that you told the waitress to put the third pizza in"". We said yes. He said ""It is your responsibility to pay for it"". We were extremely disappointed. I walked over to Louisa and explained that we would not be coming back to her restaurant. She said to me ""I don't care. I have lots of regulars. I don't need you"". \r \r Although we will no longer be going there anymore, we will be going to Ricobene's for pizza on 159th Street east of La Grange in Orland Park. They have a phenomenal deep dish pizza surprisingly similar to Louisa's. It's cheaper and the customer service there is outstanding. Try it sometime!\r Cons: Terrrible customer service more

Excellent Pizza 2/19/2008

Wow! One of the best pan pizza's on the south side! Very similar to lou malnati's. I agree with a previous review. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired. Ok service. Dreary decor, poor lighting. In my opinion definately a TO GO place. Pros: pizza Cons: atmosphere more

The smell will make you want to eat everything off the menu 1/27/2008

from the time you walk in the door you wish your pizza was already to eat. The aroma is breathtaking ad the pizza is far the best I have ever eaten. Everything they use is fresh and you can taste it. Best pizza you wont be disappointed. Pros: pizza is the best Cons: small place you might have to wait more

Top Shelf Stuff 8/12/2007

Saw it on CLTV, so I had to check it out. It was fabulous!!! The crust is unreal(butter??)...in addition we had some lasagna with eggplant in it..WOW! I dont know what that fool before me was writeing about...I actually was given the chance to watch hand made pasta being created in the kitchen. But, considering he likes nickys(the dirtiest-smelliest pit of a hell hole I have ever seen) it doesnt surprise me that good food slipped under his grease filled radar. FYI, try Portillos you buffon and after that try Louisas for pizza and pasta!!!! Pros: no long waits Cons: limited apps more

THE REAL REVIEW 6/30/2007

Ive been eating there for over 10 years because the pizza is good. THe portions from the thinknes to the pizza to the lack of salad is a joke. Their clearly cutting back to save money. I love the pizza but the pasta is nothing special at all. The owner needs to stop trying to push people out so quick. If she wants to sit more people, try adding to the building or get rid of the bar inside. AND MORE APPETIZERS TO MENUE!!!!!!!!!\r \r GREAT PIZZA BAD PASTA BAD SERVICE but these days its so hard to find a good pie..so try theirs Pros: GOOD PIZZA Cons: SMALL PORTIONS more

Ma Ma Mia! 4/26/2005

It's slightly old fashioned but you wont find better service and a better pizza anywhere! more

Top Shelf 2/21/2005

The pizza is great, my favorite. The pasta is homemade which you cant really find anywhere else. After trying their pizza all the others just dont add up. Its not greasy or too cheesy, i think its the pinical of gourmet pizza. The crust isnt too hard, and you can eat this pan pizza without the bottom getting all soggy. Best crust ive had. Pros: good food more

Pizza mmm.. delicious 1/20/2005

We love the pizza it is mouth watering delicious. This place is not a bar at all it is a very charming small family owned Italian restaurant. We eat from there at least 2 times a week and love it. I love the homemade pasta as I dont know of any restaurants that even still make homemade they say it is but it isnt. They truly make the pasta and dough form scratch I have been there numerous times and have seen them rolling it out in the kitchen. You wont be disappointed at all... more

Slightly a slice above 10/11/2004

After reading all the rave reviews I decided to take my fiance there tonight to see for ourselves. I admit the pizza was better than average, certainly not ""THE BEST PIZZA IN THE UNIVERSE"" or anything silly like that. It was good. The service was about what I'd expect at a pizza joint/bar. The ambiance sucked. It felt like a dirty cheap bar, not very romantic and not very themed, just blah. Bottom line is, order the pizza, but order it to go! more

Three Thumbs Up 6/15/2004

The best hands down. Nothing even comes close to comparision. Remember what Pizzaria Due's use to me many many years ago well this place is 10 times better everything they use is excellent you can tell the difference. more

The Best Ever 6/2/2004

I cant say enough about the pizza that this restaurant serves. It is the best ever. From the time you walk in the door and smell the aroma of the pizza you can hardly wait for it to come to your table so you can eat. Everytime a waitress walks by you with a pizza she is serving the aroma is overwhelming. more

mmmmmm.. good 5/27/2004

I am a frequent Saturday customer of louisas and we cant say enough good things about it. We always order a spinach pizza which is to die for, and we split either a gnocchi or eggplant parmesian, which is absouletly delicious. The salad dressing is also a favorite. And to top off the meal ,we either have a lemon ice which is served in an lemon or a piece cheesecake. Cant say enought good things about this place more

The Best Ever 5/26/2004

I go to a community college in Palos Park, and our teacher almost everyday has told us that Louisa's Pizza makes the best pizza ever. So one day me and some buddies decided to try it for ourselves, and she was right the pizza is outstanding. We had a cheese and sausage with fresh mushroom onion and pepper pizza and it was simply delicious. We now go there on a rgular basis and we even run into our teacher there. more

Awesome 5/25/2004

The pizza is mouth watering good. I happen to find this place one day by word of mouth.I was skepitical to try it but we did and it is one of our favorites places to go. We love the pizza and the pasta is excellent to you wont be disappointed by this establishment quality of food is hard to beat. more

Best Pizza in Chicago & 'burbs! 2/5/2004

The pizza is worth the trip from wherever you are!! Have them add a little garlic and you will agree - you won't find any better. There's also a lot of 'character' in this family owned biz. Pasta is also homemade and awesome...makes you forget all about Atkins! Pros: price, food more

Louisa's 2/1/2004

I believe that Louisa's is very overrated. The pizza's quality is not consistent. It depends on what kind of a day Louisa is having. The pasta is adequate, but not outstanding. As far as the service is concerned, all is well if she is not busy. However, don't try to have a relaxing dinner (wine, appetizers, pizza and dessert) on a Friday or Saturday night. The owner actually hangs around your table, glaring, because she wants you to hurry so she can give the table to someone else. That kind of experience which occurred more than once has caused us to no longer frequent Louisa's. more
