This is the WORST pet store I have ever been to! EVER! Pros: NONE! Cons: Everything, insects, rodents, diseases, cruelty, etc.!!!!! more

I bought my malti-poo 3 yrs. ago. Ruby is healthy, spirited and beautiful. Her beauty is only surpassed by her great personality. Everywhere we go, people comment on her beauty. I didn't have any problems with the owner or staff. All my questions were answered with knowledge and caring. The shop was a bit untidy but since it was small and had lots of dogs to choose from, I think it was fine. I have been considering getting another dog and would go back to Look, Puppies! in a minute. What anyone else experienced, it didn't happen for me. Pros: Best dog I've ever had! more

Stay far away from this place. Owners are argumentative and certifiable. Don't believe or trust anything they tell you. Save an animal and get one from a shelter before spending money here! Cons: Stinks - owners are nuts more

I bought my Boxer at 3 months old from Look Puppies. She is Great!! We did find that she was extreamly skinning but that wasn't anyones fault she had a parasite and that was cured within 2 weeks. My boxer was only at the store for 3 days so I don't think she caught whatever she had from there. I was only upset that she didn't have all her shots by then. The store owner informed me that they only give them one puppy shot when they arrive. I don't feel like Look Puppies gets enough credit. Yes they sell the puppies, but what about the owners that had the dogs before the store. Also Look Puppies has a contract with Black Mountain Vets and they have treated me great!!! The owner of the store said they will only cover the first month of shots and care after you purchase the puppie. The Vet informed me that they cover the puppy until all the shots are takin care of. I went to Look Puppies today because I wanted to browse for a dog. The first thing I noticed when I walked in the store was the overwhelming stench. The smell of urine and tobacco smoke made me cough and gag. It was awful for me and couldn't be too healthy for the puppies. My mother worked at Look!Puppies for about a year and a half. The place was always a mess, despite her best efforts. We bought a puppy from there [a little chihuahua/terrier mix that we still have some 5 years later] when she first began her job, and when we brought him home he had a small kennel cough. The veterinarian put him on some antibiotics and sent him home with us. Thereafter, we noticed that his fecies were runny and he was listless. Mind you, this was less then a week after we recieved him. We again took him to the vet, and were told that he had worms. We again had to pay to get him better. Throughout the years we've had problems with him; he has a degenerative disease in his knees, and arthiritus as well. He's only five. He's also had serious allergies throughout his time with us, and has to be on a special diet for his skin. Besides him, we also adopted a small dachsund/chihuahua mix from Marvin, which we returned because she was sick and throwing up within two days after we recieved her. I purchased a puppy from look puppies back in December of '07. She was a little less than eight weeks old. I took her in to get the free vet visit and they had informed me that she had a little cough and that it could be nothing and a hernia. She stopped eating immediately the next day and was inactive. I took her to the another vet trying to get another opinion about her symptoms. They immediately told me that she has kennel cough and provided me with some antibioics. They also checked her stool because it was runny and she had parasites in her stool. The vet also cleaned her ear and she had mites in there as well. I had her for less than a day and she had shown these many symtoms of an unhealthly puppy. My shih tzu made it alright but it took 5 different vet visits, over $500 in vet bills, 2 antibiotics for her cough, 1 drop for her ears, 1 antibiotic for her runny stool, and endless nights of worrying if my puppy is going to make it through each night. It's not about the money it's about the puppy. We grew a relationship with her already and I would never put myself in that situation again by purchasing a sick dog from that store ever again. My shih tzu is well and I'm so lucky that she made it okay and I feel for the others and their stories of the puppies they purchased from Look Puppy. They had told us the same story of why the puppies looked as unclean and dirty as they did was because they had just arrived here from another state and they havent been cleaned yet. The people were nice but the store was filthy. There were coachroaches crawling on the wall and insects everywhere. The dogs looked weak and distressed. I wouldnt have purchased a puppy there if it wasnt from the fact that I felt like I was rescuing her from that place. In that regards I would not recommend that place for anyone who's looking for a dog and would not support their business ever again. P.S. ALEXLASVEGAS- was your shih tzu a boy? What the heck...!!!! Tell ya what, I have been in this town for 7 years. I met The whole family of look puppies and love every one of them even the sweet lady that takes care of the many little pups everyday all day. I have 2 pups from them so far. One Chaya, she is a soften white wheaten terrier the other a pomapoo. Those little babies were the best and healthiest puppies I have seen in this town.The Dr. that checks them out for FREE after you buy them is great. So what if the place smells like shit...what the hell do you think puppies do all day????? more

My first three purchases from Look Puppies were great experiences, all of the three dogs were healthy and whenever I would return to the store I was remembered and treated like part of the family. My last experience however was not very good. I bought a puppy and the night I got it home it got cherry eye. I took it to the required vet per the paperwork and the vet called Marvin to ask what he was going to do about this. And mind you I not only bought four dogs from him and referred all my friends to that store as well. Well he said he would do nothing about it, not let me exchange the dog nor pay any part of the $700.00 it took to get this puppies eye back to normal plus mind you the time to help him recover. I ate the cost but how I was treated when something went wrong was not right. This store seems it's all about the money and not caring for the customer. I am not bashing this store with this review, I'm being honest about all four of my experiences. It is a dirty store as well, it is very hard to breathe while in there from the urine smell. My experience with purchasing a puppy at LOOK PUPPIES was a NIGHTMARE. I purchased a puppy as a gift. When I went to visit the puppy prior to the date I was scheduled to pick the puppy up an employee warned me to take the puppy home that day because the owner was ""having problems."" I noticed the puppy was sick and immediately took it to an independent vet who informed me that there was no way the puppy could have been the age that Marvin, the owner, stated it was. Oops, I failed to mention that the store had ""lost"" the papers for the puppy so they gave me ""substitute papers."" I ended up spending a fortune because the puppy had to be hospitalized. After reading other reviews I consider myself lucky because at least my puppy lived. When the vet's office began to question the owner about the age of the puppy he became argumentative and rude. I have been selling my puppies to Look Puppies for years now...Marvin is a very classy man and should be respected as such.I am a localarizona breeder,I make sure my puppies are very healthy before they go to Marvin and they have had vaccines ,worming done,and healthy appetites...what alo t of people seem to not know is they bring PARVO to the pet shops.it is air borne and on your feet.when so many are coming in to look at puppies it becomes very hard to watch everyone and deal with buyers and keep the floors sanitary every second...you people as buyers shoul d keep your selves sanitary in using like LYSOL and VANADINE..on yourselves.helping to prevent such outbrakes....we here at my house spray always and have not had any probl;ems.only healthy bouncing bueatys...now also,maybe none of you can recall,but very recently the 9 strain of parvo went thru all the hot states including Texas....Marvin could not have been resposible for that loss,as if a seller lies to him,,he is a very trusting man,,and if a seller says their puppies are at the higest of health and he sees that they look good ,he takes their word for it,,,now shame on them. if they are liers.also,for me as a breeder,I have 5 children who handle my babies very early ,so they are very used to being handled...my dogs are family raised and owned,I do not use kennels,I do use playpens for my babies as they start to get around, and they are used to going in and out using a dog door from an early age..so everyone,please before you start saying negative things about Marvin and Look Puppies,remember he has bought from ( hopefully ) honest sellers with healthy puppies and you are getting the best of what he can offer you..and if your puppy gets ill,.take it to the vet and then talk to Marvin,he is an awesome understanding man and will help you out in any of you puppy situation.... It really irritates me when people over exaggerate !!! First of all I just want to point out that Loop Puppies has been in business since 2001, and since then we have sold hundreds of dogs. Out of those hundreds of dogs we have had very few losses !!! Now think about the other hundreds of people that haven?t had any problems with there dogs . Their first thought want let me write about them on the internet. Why ??? BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS DUH!!! We don?t run a mill and we do not get any dogs from any mills? I know I work there. EVERY store in the world has Kettle cough ..we do our best to insure that our dogs are healthy. Yes a very seldom do we come across family breeders who are grimy and trust that if we have problems like that with a breeder we refuse to ever deal with them again! more

If you are looking to buy a puppy: DO NOT go to Look Puppies. The prices may be tempting, but it is not worth the heartache I went through. My husband and I bought a mini schnauzer from them in Dec. 2007. The puppies were dirty and Marvin (the owner) kept saying that it was because he just got into town with them the night before from TX. When we brought puppy home, he was fine for about 3 days and then started showing parvo-like symptoms. I was devastated to see what this tiny puppy was going through. We first took him to Stephanie Animal Hospital and they said he tested positive for parvo virus. I was willing to pay the bill for this outside vet, then we took him to the recommended vet and he said that the test results were wrong, and that it was only a bacterial infection (which-duh-is also deadly to a puppy of that size). After 2 days and nights at the vets, I called to check up on him and the vet informed me that he had passed away. Parvo has a 7-14 day incubation period, so whatever my puppy had was contracted from the breeder. I am convinced that this ""breeded"" is actually a puppy mill. I talked to the owner and he said he would give me a replacement puppy and pay the vet bills because the rest of the litter had died also. I am convinced that his puppies come from puppy mills. It is not the end of March 2008 and he has yet to contact me with the arrival of a replacement puppy. If I could get money back I would. I don't want to further this disgusting business of his. Please don't go here. There have been way too many accounts of similar stories coming from look puppies customers. If I could rate them a zero star, I would. I know that when u bye a dog there and if it get sick it covered for free at the vet they tell u to go to and any out side vet bills are not covered so if u where smart u would have took it to there vet and not hade a $500 vet bill........and i love my yorkie and it the sweet is dog ever and play fullest more

We bought an 8 week old Shitzu from Look Puppies. After two days, we had to take him to the hospitol, which totalled in $500 of bills for the illnesses he clearly receieved from the digusting conditions of Look Puppies. Two days later, he stopped eating entirely so we took him to the vet again. We tried everything to help him become healthy but yesterday, WE WOKE UP WITH A DEAD PUPPY. We found out later that the dog had Parvo, a highly contagious and deadly disease. After reading some other reviews on this page, its obvious that this is NOT the first puppy from this establishment to have this disease. Since it's highly contagious, I can guarantee the other puppies, that are being sold there right now, also have Parvo. We had the dog for a week and we've recieved no refund. As you walk into the front door all that overtakes you is the horrendous smell. Its poorly ventilated and the puppies obviously had not been cleaned in awhile, and here it was 2 in the afternoon! Getting past the smell was bad enough then you got to the poor little puppies! The cages were overcrowded and many of them had runny eyes. Of the bunch I saw 2 of them animated and playing, the rest of them simply looked miserable. Next you had to deal with the ""gentlemen"" that kept asking if he could help, and giving information on each dog that was simply viewed. I went in for a puppy and left with a sad heart. I have purchased two dogs from Look Puppies. Our first one, a Shih Tzu is now 3 years old. She has horrible aggression problem even with much socialization and training. Our vet and trainer both claim it is from bad breeding. She is now on daily medication to try and help her aggression. more

I have been going to Look Puppies sense it opened. I grew up taking karate lessons next door to it. As any child, the idea of going to the puppy store was exciting. I always remember going in there, and the place was full of puppies, all colors and sizes, a great selection to choose from. They have always been really clean. They had some simple rules to follow, as soon as you walk in the door put hand sanitizer on, if you wanted to pet a puppy put hand sanitizer on, and if you are switching from one puppy to the next put hand sanitizer on.
