This place use to be the BOMB! Great hiphop, good looking crowd. Now, the dance floor is always packed and the crowd is never looking good. What happened? I think they got rid of ...

WORST SERVICE EVER 3/15/2004

3.15.04 10 pm. Tonight my wife and I chose to have a special night out for her birthday at Loie, a place we have frequented since it opened. All was fine, food good, servers and bartenders very accommodating. UNTIL a bus boy LITERALLY took our chairs form under us! I asked the ""Manager"" (same guy we saw drinking shots of ""Jagermeister""), why are we forced to leave? He shrugged his shoulders, turned to a server, and said ""give them the check"". I asked WHY? We haven't even had desert?! The response was that they were having a DJ and they needed the space!!! I WILL NEVER GO TO LOIE EVER AGAIN AND WILL FROM THIS MOMENT FORWARD CURSE THE WORD LOIE TO ANY AND ALL OF MY ASSOCIATES, FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES. Pros: Location, Price Cons: , Service more

Bon soir, Paris 1/29/2004

Despite the burgeoning crowd of trendoids steadily filling the front bar, Loie manages to provide fantastic bistro fare for relatively reasonable prices in charming though spartan decor. My lover and I went with the intention of eating prix fixe for restaurant week, but instead decided to order from the regular menu. The seared Atlantic salmon was fantastic and fresh, served on a bed of succulently tasty lentils and asparagus, and garnished with three good, if bland, clams on the shell. My lover had the lentil and walnut burger, which was very good, if also a bit bland (can no restaurant put more effort into vegetarian entrees?). Our appetizer, mushroom risotto beignets, was a taste explosion of goodness; unfortunately, the apple tart tatin dessert was exceedingly disappointing. For the quality of food (except dessert), Loie is more than worth the price and the hassle of post-frat business jocks blocking the doorways. Pros: Tasty, Reasonable prices, Excellent service Cons: , Scenesters, Poor desserts more

Great Food, Great Value 8/12/2003

My wife and I had dinner at Loie with some friends of ours a few weeks ago. We each got different entrees, and they were uniformly excellent. I had the duck, and it was tremendous; easily as good as the duck at Brasserie Perrier. The monkfish was cooked to perfection as well. The waiter was knowledgeable, pleasant, and unobtrusive. The ambience left something to be desired--if you eat late enough, the crowd at the bar becomes a little rowdy and the DJ starts spinning, but it's really no big deal when you consider how great, and relatively inexpensive, the food is. I've been to many of the ""top"" restaurants in Philadelphia, but Loie is easily the best value for money. Pros: great food, reasonable prices, good service Cons: can be loud more

dont go 4/28/2003

If i were to use one word to describe this place, it would be ""sucks""! The crowd conists of a loud and irritating bunch of moronic, loud, aging, poser, hipster wannabes. There's an excessively rude bouncer on weekends, and the decor is absolutely unoriginial and gives the place the same ambiance as the diner around the corner. Outdoor seating is less-than-adequate due to the miniscule and crowded sidewalk. I'm definitely not coming back. Pros: price Cons: the crowd, ambiance, too loud more

Very Parisian 4/24/2003

This restaurant was wonderful. Everything from the staff to the decor and the FOOD was scrumptious. Bistro style and very Parisian but inexpensive. Its reminiscent of the adorable bistros from the Latin Quarter in Paris but with a better clientele. This restaurant should have been rated higher! It's fun and a great place to come with friends or on a first date. My boyfriend and I have been to most of the best restaurants in PhillyI cant wait to take him to Loie.I know hell love it! Pros: Yummy Food, Inexpensive, Crowded Cons: Crowded more
