Editorial review from Citysearch 12/23/2014

I find the front desk staff to be very uncooperative in dealing with long time clients such as myself. I had gone there with my previous dog for nearly 18 years even though the prices were higher than other vets around. So when I got a new puppy, it was natural to go back because of the familiarity of Dr. Mallock. However the staff refuses to fax my invoices to my pet insurance company even though I supplied them with a dozen claim forms. I am looking to change vets for all upcoming visits because apparently a long time client is not of any value to them. Needless to say, I will be passing my experience on to all my friends and associates. more

Don't go here unless you're rich or just don't care. 7/24/2012

Although the place is clean and thorough, it's also way overpriced, they constantly try to add on additional tests and fees (it cost me almost $500 last time I was there with two dogs and picking up foods). You never get to see the same people twice if you're like me and can only take your pets in on the weekends. I'm not even sure the same people work there from year to year. When you've got an appointment, they can't seem to keep it -- you're always waiting, often up to twenty minutes or longer on the weekend.\r \r They also discontinued carrying our cats' prescription food and we weren't notified until we showed up to get more. Since we were a bowl away from empty, that didn't give us the time to shift to a new food slowly, so all our cats were sick for two weeks.\r \r The final nail on the coffin is they are so afraid of losing revenue that they refuse to provide prescriptions for pharmacies that aren't them, particularly online pharmacies, despite the law saying they must. LLOYDS ARE THIEFS 3/4/2011

I have been taking my yorkie to Lloyds since I got him which has been 3 years. Every visit for his yearly shots have cost me between 300 and 400 dollars. When I tried to order heartworm pills from 1800petmeds lloyds told them my dog was not a patient and then they sent me a letter stating heartguard will not guarantee heartworms unless purchased by a vet and Lloyds claims heartguard does not sell to petmeds. I recently got another yorkie and took her to foxboro animal hospital and for all the same shots including rabies and heartworm the bill came to 50.00 which is less than 20% of what lloyds charged and they also told me that it was safe to purchase from petmeds but they would match the petmeds price. A distemper and rabie shot is the same no matter where you get but Dr Mallock may tell you different - needless to say " I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO LLOYDS AGAIN - THEY ARE RIPPING PEOPLE OFF" more

Unethical veterinarians hurting innocent animals 10/6/2010

PLEASE, people, PLEASE, don't take your cats or dogs to this clinic: the veterinarians will tell you that your dog or cat needs dental procedures, and WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT, TELLING YOU only that your pet needs teeth cleaning, they will remove healthy teeth from your loved pets, without any need, just to charge you money for that. \r PLEASE, PLEASE, don't go to this clinic if you love your pets, \r ASK A VETERINARY proof that your pet needs extractions, ASK before signing any paper for any procedure involving anesthesia, Veterinarians at this center removed 8 teeth from a one year and a half healthy cat without any authorization, without any x-rays to support this dental "massacre" on an innocent cat, misleading a trustful owner into believing the procedure was only to clean the pet's teeth. DISGUSTING ! more

Very unfriendly front counter staff 9/7/2010

Person who is phone receptionist (person that answers phone) is extremely poor at people skills. My animal was dying and I was looking for info, but she was cold, unresponsive, and made me feel like I was wasting her time. Llyod's first foot forward is disgusting. Nice facility, not nice staff. Sory, no business from me as a result, and no recommendations to friends. more

Have Used Lloyd's For Years 7/24/2010

I have used Lloyd's AMC for many years for my cats as have several of my friends, including a local cat shelter I am involved with. I have seen 3 vets there. Dr. Cris is very honest and down to earth and will not push anyone to have tests or treaments if it will not clearly benefit the animal. Dr. Clark is also excellent and wrote me the most compassionate note when I had to have a cat euthanized last year. Dr. Mallock was amazing when my senior cat was very sick with pancreatitis--he made the diagnosis as soon as he looked at him, started treating him before the tests came back, and the cat was as good as new in a few days. He also gave me some of the services free of charge. I agree that Lloyd's can be pricey but no more than VCA or most of the other large vets. I'm sure that being a vet is much more difficult than being a doctor for humans--your patients can't tell you where it hurts and their survival instinct makes animals very adept at hiding their illnesses. more

Lloyd Animal Medical Center is Not a place to take your animal if you care 11/8/2009

After treating my cat for several months for arthritis, the cat was still in constant pain. Although I told Dr Mallock that the cat was limping he concentrated on her hips. When I finally decided the he had no idea of what could be done, I took her to a specialist who x-rayed her and found a cancerous tumor on her leg that resulted in the cats leg being amputated. I don't know what the outcome would have been if I continued with Lloyd Hospital, but after the surgery she is pain free and a happy, healthy 3 legged cat. If you love your pet take it elsewhere. more

Very poor care and expensive 10/27/2009

Very poor care and extremely expensive. Three appointments and $479.00 later, Dr. Mallock was still unsure why my cat had not eaten in over a week and was bleeding from his nose. Dr. Mallock sent me home on a Saturday morning telling me to bring the cat back to his office on Monday morning for a exploratory procedure. The cat suffered terribly all weekend. Come Monday morning when I called to get the time of the procedure and informed him that the cat was worse, Dr. Mallock informed me that he re-thought his ability to do the procedure that we discussed on Saturday and now believes that they can't do that procedure at their clinic and that I should now take the cat somewhere else. I was horrified, had I known that on Saturday I would have taken the cat somewhere else immediately rather than letting him suffer all weekend. I actually found a very caring and competent veterinarian who actually kept the cat for 4 days in the hospital and charged me lesson than the three useless visits more
