Disappointment for ""The Best..."" 1/30/2009

Recent visit on a Sunday around noon expecting the lunch menu to be offered (as shown on their website) only to be told that the lunch menu is only offered m-f. The lunch menu includes soup and egg roll at a reasonable price. We ordered off the traditional menu, perhaps that did not showcase the Szechuan skills of the chefs but our food was ...bland. The General's chicken dish was the worst, the pieces were HARD, very difficult to cut they were so over-done. Perhaps they were last night's food that was re-warmed and covered with sauce. The shrimp lo mein had very tiny shrimp but tasted good. The Mongolian beef was not hot or spicy at all but all of the dishes had big portions served with white rice. I found this place listed as the best Chinese in the twin cities....but I'm not sure. Perhaps if you order off the non-traditional part of the menu it might be OK. Other dishes we saw being served look good. As far as I'm concerned the jury is still out on this place. Pros: ...must be the dishes I haven't tried. Cons: No lunch menu on the weekend more

Was very good before, coming down to average now 7/28/2008

My girlfriend loves spicy Szechuan food. We used to go to Tea House in Plymouth regularly until Little Szechuan was opened in St. Paul. In the first couple of months of opening, the food in Little Szechuan was fantastic. It was 100% authentic food with large portion at a very reasonable price. We went there 3-4 times a month at that time. If we weren?t living in the southwest suburbs, we would have gone much more often. Unfortunately the quality of the food was deteriorating through time. The portion of the dishes now is probably only 2/3 of what it was before. The spicy oil used in the food doesn?t smell that fresh and nice anymore. It totally lost the authenticity. The only thing didn?t go down was the price. We were getting more and more disappointed each time we went there as we thought it was the best Chinese restaurant to go in the twin cities area. Eventually we stopped going since it was no longer worth the driving. If you live around that area, it would still be a decent place to go. Otherwise you can probably find something similar around. Pros: Service Cons: Food quality more

Great food! 5/2/2008

In my opinion, this is the best Chinese restaurant in the area. Every dish I've tried there has been delicious, large portions, and at a reasonable price. It's busy almost every day but the longest I've had to wait for a table is 15 minutes. The Chung King Chili Chicken is one of the best dishes, however some days it's a good temperature and others it's so spicy I haven't been able to eat it. Pros: Great food, good service, lots of parking, good value more

Hands Down most authentic Chinese Food in the STATE!!! 5/1/2008

My wife and I lived in Szechuan for two years. We love Szechuan food and are constantly frustrated when a menu boast something is Szechuan style and it's terrible. This place is the real deal. We eat here as often as we can afford. We have not found a thing on the menu that tastes bad. The service has picked up but frankly for the taste we put up with as the chinese say, mama huhu, service. I can say that from our first visit 'til last week when we were there the service has improved incredibly. Dishes come out together and the wait is reasonable. If you want to impress a Chinese friend with TRULY authentic Szechuan food don't waste your time ANYWHERE else. Go to little Szechuan it's AMAZING!!! Pros: Awesome Taste Cons: Parking more
