OH COME ON 10/28/2009

OBVIOUSLY all the good reviews here were written by OWNERS UNDER DIFFERENT NAMES. This place is a JOKE. One waitress runs the WHOLE operation, because she has DIRT on the owners. She is BEYOND rude to customers. The food is ridiculously overpriced, and really NOT that good. Pros: good deli food Cons: rude wait staff, WAY TOO OVERPRICED more

Bad service 11/13/2008

I dined here recently and fount the food OK and the service not very good. My friend lives in Northville and gets pizza to go frequently and says they are very good. I'll have to check the pizza's out next. Pros: Easy to get a table Cons: Service more

Real facts 9/14/2008

Not only are the owners incopetant, rude and usually drunk. The food is struggling to be mediocre (but overpriced) and this restaurant has been convicted of numourous citations from the Department of Health, OSHA, and the federal and state labor departments. Eat at your own risk!!! Pros: location Cons: everything else more

Poor service 1/11/2008

The food was fair the service was poor. The couple sitting at an adjacent table agreed, if you were a regular/local the wait staff was very attentive. If not - eat up and get out of our way because you are very much an inconvenience to us. My view is it wasn't a place I would go back to. There are too many good establishments arounf the Detroit market that treat a customer well. Pros: None I can think of Cons: Unresponsive wait staff more

Dissapointed, but good deli 6/28/2007

I have to say I have not had the ambiance of a meal in the restaurant. I have ordered food there several times and have not been impressed. We were given giftcards last Chrristmas and were excited when we ordered the lamb chops to take back to our business to eat. (We work nearby) I presented our gift card which was returned with a sorry. Our friends were given cards with no money loaded on them. Were we embarrassed when we told them we had to pay for the meal, we didn't tell them it was undercooked and cold. They got their money back for the cards. I've also had wrong food given to me on orders. I go back because Northville has so few choices. There sandwiches are good, also the prepared food in deli. Just my bad luck I think. Looks like many others have had a better expieience than my wife and I. more

The Best EVER - Very Highly Recommended 5/3/2007

WOW! What a great destination. Tucked into a residential side street in sleepy Downtown Northville is this slice of Italy. Set up like an Italian village, Little Italy has an excellent ""ristorante"", a way cool bar (Bacchus Bar) for casual dining with more spirit selections than I have ever seen in my life, the lower level wine cellar is incredible, and the neatest Italian market/pizzeria carry-out (Hutton Street Market) jam packed with wine and Italian specialties. They have a great selection of ready to heat and eat foods and bottle their own sauces. The best Italian food I have had outside of Italy. Great steaks (try the fillet), seafood, homemade pastas. The market carry-out pizzas are also available in the bar (a must try). Top notch high quality food and a super waitstaff make you feel better than family. Overall, an incomparable experience. Handsdown, my favorite restaurant. THANK YOU Little Italy! Pros: The Food. The Wine. Onsite Parking (By-The-Door Parking For Carry-Out.) Cons: Hard to find. Can get very busy. more

NOTHING BAD can be said!!! I love it here!!! 1/24/2007

First of all, I don't know how anyone can say ANYTHINGbad about this place! The ambiance is warm, the size is intimate & inviting, the service is nice & the food tastes great! I would bring anyone here for any occassion...even a friend proposed to his girlfriend here. Forget the review below this one...Little Italy is wonderful. more

Poor service 7/1/2006

We were very disappointed by the service. The atmosphere is so-so as well. Very overpriced for what you get. Pros: Location Cons: Service more

Sempre squisito! 1/26/2006

Little Italy always delights in so many ways - you'll never be disappointed! We've been fans of the restaurant since they opened in 1988. If you want to experience a quality menu along with great ambiance, don't spend your money at some Italian chain eatery, spend your money at Little Italy. Pros: Menu, Bar, Wine List Cons: Too small for groups more

Love at First Bite 1/22/2006

Although I live in Lansing I make the drive to Little Italy quite frequently. I travel to Italy on business about four times a year and in my opinion, Little Italy in Northville is the next best thing. The food is excellent and I have always received great service. I have a passion for Italian wines and the wine list here is one of the best. I highly recommend this quaint little piece of Italy. Pros: Food, Wine, Authentic Cons: Very Busy, Can be noisy, Hard to leave more

Anniversary Dinner 1/13/2006

We called for a reservation for a nice little table for 2 for our anniversary. We arrived and were promptly seated in a romantic little nitch - a perfect table for 2. The food was good, very authentic and filling. The dessert was great. The only drawback was the service, which I thought should have been better for the price of the meal. We waited on drink refills and our dishes were not promptly cleared between each course. This wouldn't be enough to keep us away though. Pros: Romantic, Quiet and intimate, Valet Parking Cons: Little pricey more

Gets my vote for best operation 2/6/2005

I love everything about this place. Reminds me of a little italian village. A fine dining ""ristorante"" in front, a typical Italian ""bar"" for more casual drop in dining in the back with an inexpensive menu, an Italian market next door with great carry-out pizza and other foods. These guys have it all! Great food, great service, an excellent wine list. I had them cater a super bowl party for us and they did an excellent job. Pros: Great Food, Great Serevice, Great Wine List more

Simply The Best 2/5/2005

I was born in Italy but grew up in the ""Little Italy"" section in Windsor, Ontario. There are an abundance of great Italian restaurants in Windsor but none are better than Little Italy in Northville. Real Italian food, great service, an amazing wine list. The Bacchus Bar addition with it's own casual dining room was a stroke of genius. Now they have an Italian deli/pizzeria with simply amazing take away pizzas and prepared food. The owner/chef always seems to be on the premises. Thank You Little Italy! Pros: Food, Wine, Service Cons: Crowded, Noisy more

Absolutely Fantastic 1/25/2005

This is the real deal. An Italian restaurant with a soul. Forget about all that fake ""Italian"" chain junk. These guys have been around a long time and have it going on. A fine dining ristorante in the front, a casual dining bar in the back with an amazing selection of grappa and a great carry-out next door with prepared foods, real paninis, homemade pastas and maybe the best carry-out pizzas around. An unbelievable wine list. But the food, aah the food. Amazing. A chef/owner operated restaurant makes the real difference for me. Pros: The Food, The Wine Cons: , Very Busy more

Pleasantly Surprised! 8/1/2003

Little Italy was recomended to us by some of our friends who had been there...so we made reservations for dinner. I had their Veal Carchofini (sp?), which was probably the best piece of veal I can recall having, and my girlfriend had one of their amazing featured entrees...it was a mixed plate of King Salmon, Scallops, Scampi Tails, and Maine Lobster Meat in a sauce that was rich, but yet light enough that it brought out the richness in the seafood!....then we went to their bar...it had such a comfortable atmosphere, a HUGE selection of spirits, and the manager took us on a tour of their elegant and very impressive wine cellar....this restaurant is one NOT to miss Pros: Great Service, Friendly, Excellent food Cons: Crowded more

Bravissimo! 3/19/2003

I travel back to Italy every year at least once and this is absolutely the finest effort towards an authentic regional Italian restaurant I have experienced in the Detroit metro area. It doesn't get as much press or attention as other restaurants, but in my opinion, this place is tops. Excellent service from a well trained staff ready to accomodate, food to die for, a great wine list and selection of spirits rivaling the better restaurants in Italy. The owners here understand how to convey the essence of the Italian spirit. Complimenti! Pros: Food, food, food., Selection, Atmosphere more

What a great atmosphere 2/16/2003

Hubby took me there last night for my bday. Every year I have gnocchi's for my birthday so I found this restaurant through City Search and decided to try it out. Of course, Little Italy was packed and there were no reservations avail. so we ate in the Bar - Bacchus Bar. Service and Atmosphere were outstanding as was the SPIEDINI ALLA MARIA appetizer. The dinners were average but good. more

Viva Italia 1/19/2003

Jeff and John know Italian!! This fantastic, romantic restaurant has the best Italian around. Each dish is made to order, and is perfect. I am, unfortuantely, allergic to garlic, but they always seem to make the dish so good that it seems like the recipe never called for garlic in the first place. The bread is great, and the wine list is amazing. I recommed the Terrabianca Compaccio. Homemade raviolis are incredible! The eggplant tapanade on the antipasto plate is unequaled, and the frozen, chololate covered gelatto for desert is awesome. The ambience is an eclectic blend of old-world and modern. A winner all the way around!!! Pros: Food cooked to order, Wine List, Romantic Cons: Can get loud at times more

The Best! 1/8/2003

My absolute favorite restaurant. This has been my regular place for about 15 years now. Fantastic food and excellent service. The owners are constantly keeping things up to date. I love the diversity: the traditional main dining rooms are in the Italian fine dining ""ristorante"" style with white linens and a complete menu; the newer Bacchus Bar side is more casual with an alla carte menu. These guys work hard and deserve all the success they have had. Complimenti more
