2011 F150 transmission leak.
I had a trans leak on my new truck, did some web searching and got 750K hits in less than a second and found info about improperly machined transmission cases, causing leaks, on trucks built the week mine was built!
When I dropped off my truck for the leak repair, I told the Service Adviser what I had read about the bad cases, and gave him links to the info as well as copies of related TSP's, etc.
Fast forward 18 MONTHS, and 2 more attempts (3 total) to repair the "LEAK" by removing the trans and changing out the SAME parts...yep, LEAKING AGAIN!
4th "Leak" Repair
So I ask what will be done differently this time and told, Ford directs all warrantee work and what is done, not Lithia(?)
OK, I call FORD, thinking I'd get to talk to whoever is calling the shots on my truck, silly me, just another layer of "customer" service, unable to talk to the actual person directing the repairs to my truck.
So on the fourth attempt to fix the "leak", over 18 months, "Ford" decides to change the case!!
Oh, and that case...back ordered for 6 weeks!
The bad case I told them about, 18 months prior, that was machined oversized and causing the leak.
In defense of Lithia, Ford seems to direct warrantee work, and remains isolated from the customer of any discussion about the repair, as I wanted to pay up the difference and get a new transmission, but had no one to talk to about that, after leaving several unanswered voice mails to my assigned Ford customer service rep.
So my truck's transmission now has a new case, and all the other (old) parts from my old case, with the bearings installed and transmission assembled by a service tech at Lithia, not assembled at the transmission plant.
