GREAT FAMILY PLACE AND ROMANTIC 7/10/2009

Lisca has been there for years, but somehow my husband and I have missed it. IT'S AMAZING! the menu food is terrific, and the children of the owners will be TOTALLY honest with you about what you will and will not like on the menu.. In addition to being completely charming. The specials SHOULD NOT be missed... I have rarely made the effort to rate a restaurant, but i signed up for citysearch just so that people could know how great this place is. GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Amazing food and service Cons: I'll work on thinking of some.. more

Awesome UWS restaurant 3/13/2009

My friend suggested we go to Lisca for dinner last night as she had been before. The whole experience was nothing but totally enjoyable. Upon entering the restaurant, my friend was greeted by name from one of the friendly servers (who happens to be the daughter of the owner.) Throughout the dinner she offered suggestions that we both loved. The pear, endive, gorgonzola, and walnut salad was incredible as was the paparadelle pasta with goat cheese. Try the Tiramisu for dessert. The prices also seemed to be reasonable for the wonderful quality of food. I will definitely be back again! Pros: great service, amazing food, quiet setting Cons: none! more

The Quintessential Neighborhood Restaurant - That Not All Neighborhoods Are Lucky Enough to Have 7/28/2008

Lisca is a winner: excellent food, cozy ambiance, attentive service. To add icing to the cake, Haddie, Lisca's owner, is one of the most genuinely charming restaurant owners in NYC. You can be assured of a warm, personal greeting every time you enter - and he, or one of his daughters, always stop by to make sure that the guest is pleased. The fish is the freshest, the pasta light and authentic and the specials are always worth considering. This restaurant is a gem. Pros: Extremely warm and helpful service, superb cuisine, cozy, comfortable atmosphere more

Treated like royalty 10/12/2007

We were recommended to another restaurant across the street but we were treated so poorly when we walked in that we did not want to eat there. Fortunately Manhattan is not a desert island. There were many restaurants in the area. Since we wanted Itallian food we went across the street to LISCA's. The moment we walked in the door we were treated with respect and courtesy. We were seated immediately and had drinks sitting comfortably at our table until the rest of our group arrived. Food was very fresh and delicious. Service was excelent. To me, Lisca's is a dining experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Pros: Good Food and Good Service more

Outstanding Food 5/15/2005

I had dinner at Lisca last weekend and was so impressed with the quality of food. Appetizers we had: roasted beet salad, the buffalo mozzarella, and the spicy mussels. all were outstanding. Entrees: pasta special with crab meat, the pesto pasta with manila clams, and the mixed seafood grill. I couldn't get over how entree seemed better than the next. We ended the meal with the raspberry tart and one of the best creme brulees I've ever had. The speed of the service needs to improve a bit, but overall was satisfied. I loved that it was a family run restaurant as well. This is our new favorite local place. Pros: food quality, family run, location Cons: service slow, need circulation, better ambiance more

Excellent Experience 2/8/2005

my wife and i recently ate at lisca and had a tremendous experience. we were taken care of from the moment we entered the door. from the gentleman (hadi, the owner, it turns out)who escorted us to our table to the waitstaff who made sure our every need was attended to, we were treated like royalty. the food was outstanding. the atmosphere was warm and inviting. this was truly a memorable evening. we look forward to our next visit. Pros: service, food, hadi, the owner more

Great UWS Newcomer! 1/30/2005

My wife and I are regulars at Lisca, its a very good, neighborhood restaurant. Haddie, the owner, is tremendous. He remembers you every time, and he makes you feel like you are eating at a family restaurant. The funghi fritti is a must. The osso bucco with risoto has been done perfectly every time I've ordered it. The wait staff is exceedingly friendly. I marked the restaurant down as romantic, a good place for kids, and a good place for large groups only because I've seen Haddie go to great lengths in all three situations. If you want good food, at a reasonable price, with really stellar service, you can't go wrong with Lisca. Plus, even if you do not have reservations, Haddie will make every effort to seat you, and if he can't right away, he'll seat you at the bar where his daughter runs a very friendly bar. Pros: Service, Food, and Service again. more
