Lightning Vanlines is an excellent company, because they show up on time with plenty of help, are fast, efficient, friendly, resourceful, and get the job done. They packed everything to ensure that it did not break, as well as dismantled the furniture. When they set our house up, they made sure the furniture was to our liking and put everything in place, including assembling many extra things. They are professional and definitely know what they are doing. Most importantly they quoted us a price that they guaranteed. I will use this company again in the future. more

Hire.Them.Now. Affordable, estimate was moderate and comparable to the other places I got quotes from. However, they came in way under the estimate. Fast (my move took only 3hrs ). And did I mention affordable??? Also, the guys were nice and very professional! I was worried because I could only get an 5pm appointment, I thought they would be tired and slower because it was the end of the day. Not the case. I think the drive between apartments took longer than the actual moving of all my stuff (for a one bedroom apt. I had lots of stuff). Wonderful experience...I don't think I can every go back to moving myself, I'm spoiled for life. Highly recommended. more

Let's face it. Moving totally sucks. It's even worse when you have lived in a place for ten years. That was my situation. I called around to several places, and to be honest, Lightning Vanlines got back to me first and they were so nice and helpful I decided to go with them. So glad I did. First off, they guys came right on time and were super nice from the get go. They took so much care with all my things and even packed up things for me that I hadn't gotten to yet. They did it all with a smile and with care. When they got to our new place, we could all see that getting the box spring upstairs would be a major challenge. They did not give up and got it up without one scratch to the floors, walls or anything. They moved all my things without any damage to anything. They were extremely thorough and helpful throughout the whole process. There is no way in hell I am moving again for a long time, but for anyone who is I completely recommend Lightning Vanlines moving company. more

These guys were amazing. They showed up exactly when they said they were going to show up, walked into the apartment to survey it for no more than two minutes or so, and then got to work. They did pad our belongings, especially some antique dinner table chairs we have, but they did the job quickly and efficiently (not sloppily). What most surprised us was their willingness--in fact, almost eagerness--to take things we had not really packed in boxes or that were just lying loose (such as books). We were planning on taking them ourselves, but they happily loaded it in the truck. They arrived at the new place quickly and immediately set to work. They were bringing in everything so fast that we barely had time to think about where to tell them to put it (which is good)! I should also say that stairs were involved in each location. Despite potential problems such as our gigantic couch and large bird cage, they maneuvered through everything easily and efficiently. I also like that they quickly reassembled the bed upon arrival. I ended up paying exactly what I was quoted in addition to a hefty tip. I'll also add that this was something of a spur-of-the-moment move, and I found Lightning MUCH more accommodating than other movers we had considered. Highly, highly recommended. more

I would recommend them very highly if you want to have a mover. I just used Lightning Vanlines to move from LA to SF. They were prompt, on time, the estimates were on the spot, all my stuff came back as it was :) .. The guys who moved were nice and courteous. We can't say enough good things about this company. We were moving across country from San Francisco to just outside of New York City and while researching moving companies found lots of negative online feedback. Fortunately we had several friends use and recommend Lightning Vanlines. Based on that feedback and the fact that their estimate was much lower than others, we decided use them. They packed our most fragile items and loaded our entire 3 bedroom house without an issue. They moved us in the middle of one of their most intense winters and arrived on time. Nothing was missing or broken and all involved were very professional. We highly recommend them and know that if we ever moved again, we would go with Lightning Vanlines. If decide to go with Lightning Vanlines and are moving long distance, try to get Rich Bailey as a driver. Again, he got our stuff on time in the middle of several snow storms and is good at communicating status with his clients. For auto transport they may recommend All American Auto Transport. Wow. What can I say! Lightning Van Lines is a class act. I recently used them to move my family from the bay area down to LA. My representative Michael was able to coordinate my move within a couple of days. I was skeptical at first when the moving crew showed up and there was only 3 people. But Alex, George, and Valerie were definitely professionals. Ive never seen movers use such care and efficiency. I'm writing this review because I was pleasantly suprised to find a moving company that was informative and non pressure and took away my stress.Lightning Van Lines moved me for the price they quoted with polite employees who seemed to be handling my furniture with great care. We moved cross-country from the Bay area to Vermont. The movers on both ends were very professional, efficient and conscientious. They were actually one of the cheaper moving quotes we got, and they have a binding quote upper limit that is a useful feature of their business. As other reviewers have stated, they were trustworthy, careful, and very nice. more

I am extremely grateful for my experience with LIGHTNING I was so happy with my experience with Lightning van Lines. They moved me from California to NYC. The service and attention was top notch. They paid attention to every detail . We had our possessions stored for about 1.5 month or so while we waited to close on our new home. When we found out our closing date, we called them with a request to have our stuff delivered and Lightning came thru Lightning will disassemble shelving, desks, items they think are easier to handle and store being disassembled. Make sure you know where the screws, or other hardware are. All, in all, I highly recommend them. see you soon more

After my original moving company bailed on me (ON MOVING DAY!), I turned to City Search and found Lightning Vanlines. I called and they were able to schedule a team of movers for the very next day! They showed up on time and went right to work. They were courteous and thorough and they actually made moving a bit more fun. Six months later, I found myself moving again and I immediately called Lightning Vanlines. Again, they showed up on time, were thorough and courteous. They re-assembled my son's bunkbeds and were just all around great. The only hiccup was when they tore the new flooring in the kitchen, moving the fridge into place. It was a quick fix so no big whoop. I would recommend these guys a million times over! more

Top notch! It's like they tweak genes and breed these movers for the job. I chose Lightning Vanlines over the other closest 5-star mover because they were a smidge cheaper and didn't require cash for the first move - credit was fine, so I still get protection from my bank. I'm really glad I chose them. They sent a third person to help speed the truck loading at no extra charge. Everything was wrapped carefully, with attention to detail on things like taping over shelving pegs with easily removable tape, or extra padding for fragile items. Despite lots of fragile items in the move, everything arrived intact. The movers were friendly, and they were always moving, no idle time that I ever saw, even when the foreman needed to ask questions. They had no trouble moving a large couch out through a door without marking walls, or getting a bedspring out into a narrow hallway - the same box spring had taken the original movers a good ten minutes to inch through. My move was a same-day move from San Francisco out to Chico, and they made good time and didn't complain about the longer haul or waste any time on the trip. I've honestly got nothing to say against them. They were about 15 minutes late, but they even called ahead on that - no waiting about and worrying. more

First, I changed my move date 3 times. They were gracious about it each time. The day of the move, they arrived exactly when they said they would. The head guy Adam introduced himself to me and then introduced me to each member of his team. I have never met such polite, friendly, hard-working guys in my life. They were all, without exception, incredibly thoughtful and polite, always asking permission to use the restroom, and checking in with me anytime something was unclear rather than just shoving things in boxes. They all individually came to me to excuse themselves when their lunch arrived and broke for only about 30 minutes. They day was a grueling 12 hours long and never once did any of them complain, they were just as hard-working at the end of it as at the beginning. Out of about a million boxes from 7 rooms and 5 or 6 closets (OH MY GOD SO MUCH STUFF), I think 2 things were broken, nothing valuable or irreplaceable. A couple other things got small scratches, which must have been unavoidable because everything was very carefully wrapped in cardboard and blankets, and we only moved 8 blocks! The actual price at the end of the day ended up being more than was estimated on the phone when I made the date, that's the only non-positive. But we paid it gladly, being that we hardly lifted a finger for 12 hours while these guys worked their butts off. Highly recommend! more

I used these guys to move from PA to Santa Clara. They did an amazing job and were good for the price, they have binding estimates, are fully insured and fully licensed, if I ever move again anywhere, these are the guys I am to call, and I reccomend them to everyone I know more

I just completed a cross country move from SF to Manhattan and Lightning Vanlines was a joy to work with from start to finish. Starting with Hector, who came to my home to give me my estimate, I was immediately impressed and reassured. Everyone I spoke with on the phone were helpful and professional. On moving day, things could not have gone more smoothly. Guys were in and out of my place in less than 3 hours. When my things arrived in NY, their dispatch was in contact with me to make sure that they had access to bridges (I live on an island) and to the complex (gated community). They navigated the stairs and braved the rain in order to make sure that everything was unloaded and unpacked to perfection! 29 My husband and I recently moved from Los Angeles to Washington to be near our grandkids. I have tendonitis in my hand and my husband is in need of a new hip. Yes, what a pair. We needed young strong guys to help us pack up and move. I had several companies come out and give us quotes. After all the hoopla and too high of promises I chose to go with Lightning Van Lines because they seemed honest and didn’t promise the world. Nancy told it like it was when she came to our home to give us a visual estimate. On the day of the move three young strong men came and quickly packed up our home of 42 years. I thought it would take days but they arrived early in the morning and were done just before dinner. They even packed some of my most precious belongings in our trailer. Lightning has free storage for one month so we spent the next two weeks traveling in our home on wheels up the coast visiting friends and making new ones. When we knew our arrival date in Spokane, we gave them a call. Our worldly possessions arrived just a few days after we closed on our new house. I recommend Lightning Van Lines to anyone who is moving. more

I recently used Lightning Van Lines to move here in the East Bay. The searching process was a pain in the rear because I went to a moving website for quotes and got bombarded with calls and emails from 15 different companies. I responded to five of them that sounded decent enough but when I spoke with Arthur from Lightning Vanlines I was sold. They didn't seem to be as cheap as some of the other movers I had talked to but something told me at the very least these guys would do a good job for me. Turns out the company wasn't expensive at all, considering I pretty much had them do everything. These guys came in and boxed up all of my home theater system, covered up my furniture, specially wrapped up my weight machine, and they even protected older furniture that was already banged up. I watched over the movers here and there but I really didn't need to. They were doing a really good job and working hard. So the cost was good, the service was excellent and they really made the whole thing a hassle free experience. When or if you ever have to move give these guys a call. more
