Lightning Van Lines

I did not have a good experience with Lightning Van Lines. I DO NOT recommend this company. My experience: The company's original estimate seemed like a good deal. But after the delivery, they charged me twice the amount of their original quote. So instead of $2,300 it was $4,500. It cost $4,500 to move a one bedroom!! The heaviest thing I had was a treadmill. I paid to have them pack my stuff. To be fair, one of the guys was great. He was very careful in packing. The other two guys were horrible!! They would open a drawer and just start throwing things into a box. For example, they threw my $500 radio in a box with shoes, a scale and other random belongings. And when I say threw, I mean they didn't organize the box, they just started tossing things in like the box was a waste basket. I paid extra to have them transport my stuff on to a smaller truck because an 18-wheeler could not get into my complex. The delivery person didn't read this on my contract. We had to remind him on the day of delivery. So they were a day late because they had to rent a UHaul. On top of that they didn't call us to let us know they were on their way. What was broke: The leg of my treadmill, dining room chair, dining room table is incredibly scratched, wooden TV tray stand and bedroom TV stand. And I have some random things missing which means one of my boxes is missing/was never delivered. What makes this experience even worse is their claims service makes it a huge pain to get reimbursed for damages. It's not even worth it because you get .60 cents per pound and you have to provide pictures and have a furniture repair company come to give estimates on how much it would cost to fix. You have to provide those estimates to Lightning Van Lines. So basically if they broke something, you have to go through a long, time-consuming process of getting estimates. And if you have something that is expensive but not heavy that broke, you won't get anything for it. I will never use this company again, and I advise you not to either. This is just a small note to inform people about the fantastic services provided by Lightning Van Lines. When I booked the service from Lightning for my move to Colorado, I promised my sales rep that if they are able to satisfy me through their service, then I will post a review for them. Appreciate their help From the various resources over the Internet I selected Lightning Van Lines. There isn't any specific reason for choosing them. Called at the number in their website and found a live person to answer it (I called at night and most of the companies ignored my call). Felt good and booked their service after some package information. Was little apprehensive about the ultimate bill but then there was nothing to worry. At last I received a bill that was expected. DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO COMPLAIN. The movers did their job honestly and I appreciate it. Thank you, will come to you soon. more

This is Jayme Kayla. I booked the service from Lightning Van Lines. A smart moving crew helped me relocate from New Jersey to Florida. the best part was when i was waiting for the belongings. Understanding the fact that i was tensed and anxious about my belongings, they kept me calling and updating about the advancement of the tuck loaded with my belongings. They new my new home address and probably they were familiar with the place (thats what seemed to me from their conversation and instructions). The driver called me and asked me to come to the delivery point when he was just a stones throw away from it. They all were very friendly and understanding. RECOMMENDED!!!!!! more

I moved with Lightning Van Lines with my family. The movers were at my door by 10.00am and completed packing and loading within 4 hours. They were all neatly dressed, professional look. Did not waste time. Went for lunch after they were done with packing and loading. And were back within 13 minutes. We followed them to the weighing station and found that we were over the quoted lbs. It was an emergency move due to official requirement. I would be charged a full months rent after Monday. I called Lightning Van Lines at 3.40 on Friday and asked for help. They asked for another day, they informed that Monday has no space But Tuesday surely they will get me going. The move coordinator gave me an idea and we worked accordingly. The company picked up my stuff from home in the evening and offered storage facility at a discounted rate. I spent the night in a friends house. We left the next day early morning and everything went well. It was great. more

I moved with my family from from Hoboken to Miami. My company agreed to pay maximum $7000 for the complete move. I discussed my problem and requirement with Lightning Van Lines and they promised to get everything done within the limit. It was a full service move. We were not good with packing and loading, therefore thought it would be wise to let the professional handle it. Packing was approximately $500. And the complete door to door moving service cost us something around $5100. That was amazing! more

We moved with Lightning Van Lines. Initially we though of getting service for transporting our belongings only. Checked some sites for packing help and felt that we could do them by ourselves confidently. Actually, it is easier said than done. Was in a mess. No luck in packing. Ultimately we hired them for a full service move. After that there was no problem. more

He also explained me how to pack my belongings in order to avoid the additional charges. He gave an estimate based on some weight factor and that was approximately accurate. I had recently been required to relocate not only my home, but also my design studio. I had contacted many companies and had a few people even come to my place to give me prices. This company was so much more professional with their presentation and the services they offered I was compelled to choose them. I was a bit nervous moving my "life" across country, both my personal goods as well as my business items. I could not have been happier when the guys arrived.thy were uniformed careful and quick. My nerves were calmed. I waited in anticipation in NY for about 6 days I then received a all telling me my delivery was scheduled for the next day. When the crew arrived they went straight to work setting up my Studio and placing my boxes in the proper rooms. First and for most, I hired this company because the my sales rep was so friendly to me. I must of looked around like crazy and finally I found them to have the best customer service. The women over the phone really helped me out a lot with all my questions and concerns. I felt really positive that I was going to receive the same service the day of the move but boy was I wrong. When the movers first got there I could not believe there lack of professionalism. The supervisor of the movers was smoking right in front of me and my 3 year old daughter. How rude.. Than as he was moving my furniture I asked him to please wrap it in blanket which I was told were going to be free due to the fact that I did not want him to penetrate my upholstery with his cigarette smoke. Mind you that I asked him as pleasant as possible without trying to embarrass or insult him. He reacted in a way that frightened me. Than later he re packed my PACKED BOXES with tape.... WHAT! I asked him why he did that and he rudely answered that he had to unless I wanted for them to go inside the truck. Had I known what headache I would incur during this move, I for sure would of NEVER booked them. I'm sorry but the sales rep was really pleasant but she did not inform me of all the expensive packing fees and crew members. I do not blame her but they should of given me a heads up regarding the packing. They charged me almost 300 dollars for tape and small boxes which I know cost like 3 bucks each at home depot but OH NO DONT WORRY MRS ALRIGHT WE WILL TAKE CARE OF ALL YOUR MOVING NEEDS.... Awful move. They movers were lazy. My partner and I carried more things out to the truck then they did. And at least we didn't break anything. They were sexist and rude, too, constantly making comments. Hey guys--I know I'm gay, you don't have to tell me that! When I complained to the office, they just laughed at me. Always moves are considered to be serious but not all of them are of the same kind. Funny things happened to us as we were planning our move. We reserved space with another company that was supposed to pick us up last Friday or Saturday. Come Saturday we never received a call from that company despite leaving 100 messages. That's when we got extremely nervous and started to panic. We found this site and Lightning Van Lines on it. We went to the site and received calls from a few companies and the one we chose actually picked us up the same day. They really did a great job so thank you for your help. more
