Lifestlye Fitness failed to help us 2/21/2012

The Indianapolis venue was nice and staff were friendly - however they failed to process our cancellation when we got pregnant. Now I am working on getting the $225 the company took from our bank. Thanks to Lifetime Fitness - they took over the membership when the location closed. Lifetime refunded $150 without question. Lifestyle's answer - they don't have the letter, so cannot refund. Their fault. Will never be able to join, or will recommend to anyone in my school, soccer or personal network. Hope others do not get caught out. Beware. more

LIFESTYLES CLEARWATER 1/12/2012

BEWARE what you sign. Don't trust anything you are told about membership dues as that is just the beginning of what you will end up paying. DON'T GIVE LIFESYLES ACCESS TO YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT. Ask about maintenance fees and enhancement fees automatically taken from your checking account. Try to cancel and you will be informed of more withdrawals from your account. They make it very difficult to cancel. RATING ""0' for disclosing information you should expect in order to make an informed decision about joining. more

Don't try to cancel your membership 10/14/2011

In my opinion, they don't even deserve a rating. I signed up for membership about 5 years ago and things seemed fair at that time. About 2 years ago I switched membership types to the Basic plan to save some money. Not only did they overcharge me that month by QUADRUPLE what my new dues were, no one informed me that every 6 months I would be charged a ""maintenance fee"" that was higher than my monthly fee. I should have seen the light then, but paid anyway. Now, trying to cancel my service after not having even gone to the gym in 2 months, they hit me with another fee! I canceled my contract last month and was told at the time that my payment I made at that time was my final payment, only to get called again this month informing me I owe another month's dues to cancel! It took 8 HOURS last month between paying my ""final dues"" and being able to talk to someone to cancel (that's 8 hours of hanging up at the voicemail and re-dialing only to get another vm)! 8 HOURS! What great customer service. A friend of mine spent a week trying to get ahold of someone to cancel hers! Save your money, go to the Y. Much better service and easier to cancel. I wish I had stayed with them. more

Lifestyle is TERRIBLE, AWFUL SERVICE< OLD EQUIPm 6/7/2011

Lifestyles Center does not have good service. 6/7/2011 My teengaer insisted I sign him up here, they promised everything when you are beginning to do business with them, my young son got so excited he brought someone from school to also sign up, he only got one towel as a prize, not only that, you cannot pay monthly fee over the phone...weird... their equipment is old and people at the front desk just lack professionalism. Lifestyles refuses to refund. 3/15/2008

My wife and I have found out the hard way that they don't live up to their word. Here is a summary of what we've been through so far. My wife and I signed up for personal training session, but my wife hurt her knee in an unrelated accident. Lifestyles Family Fitness' contract states that a refund will be provided, in that case, if a letter is signed by a licensed physician. The letter was sent but there was no response from LFF. After repeated calls asking for progress on the refund procedure LFF informed us that they had just received our letter at their corporate office even though our gym and their corporate office are only 4 miles apart. They went on to inform us that it would take another 30 days to process the refund. After several more calls and 3 more weeks LFF denied the refund based on only a letter from the physician and demanded that a more extensive form be filled out and faxed over to their corporate office. The letter was filled out and faxed, but then lost by LFF. So I had to go back to my doctor's office collect all the paperwork and I'm currently in the process of once again sending them the letter and forms via certified mail. During the course of this incident we've been hung up on twice, not called back three times, and had requests to speak to managers either ignored or denied several times. This is at the least poor customer service and more probably breach of contract and fraud. I've heard of insurance companies using the tactic of deny refunds or payouts at any cost, but never a gym. If you are considering the PT program at LFF I would strongly reccomend you research LFF at length, before you sign on the dotted line. Pros: Avoid at all costs. Cons: Horrible customer service. more

DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING FOR THEM! 7/5/2007

Don't ever start a membership there. I can't get out of mine. To end your membership you have to mail a signed letter to their corporate office. However, when I called to get the address to mail it to, they gave me the wrong address. So it came back. Then I called again and insisted that we do something different. So they had me email them a signed letter. SIX MONTHS AND I'M STILL PAYING FOR A MEMBERSHIP. This is an awful business. I can not be any more clear about it, DO NOT START A MEMBERSHIP THERE! Pros: It is a gym and they do have equipment. Cons: They won't let you out of your membership, it will end up costing you much more than it's worth. They no intergrity or ethics. more

A fairly new modern gym in the area 11/13/2006

A fairly new and modern gym in the area that doesn't just cater to muscle heads but to all fitness types. Whether you work out every day or just starting a rountine, you be able to find your niche. Many group classes for all your cardio needs. The monthly fees are pretty reasonable, but they do increase a little each year. Don't go for all the Lifestyles membership, just pick the gym you'll always use and it's a little cheaper. more
