Leucadia Towing

Could not be more impressed! I've had a distributor issue with my vehicle and sure enough, saturday night, it gave out on me, literally half a mile from my house. I called AAA, went home, and within 5 minutes, Andrew, the tow truck driver from Leucadia towing, called me and said he was at my car. Couldn't believe the response time. Never seen anything like it, and certainly won't expect that, but having needed tows a few times in the past, I was prepared for a bit of a wait. Anyhow, Andrew was incredibly friendly, courteous, and most importantly, I was impressed with how attentive he was to making sure to take good care of my car. It has a low clearance so I had requested a flat bed, and Andrew showed up with the flat bed and did everything he could think of to make sure my front end didn't scratch going up the bed. He even apologized for not having more rags to pad the hooks underneath my car because he didn't want anything underneath my car scratched! Got me home quick and easy, and he even helped push my vehicle into the garage. Way beyond the call of duty. Leucadia towing has at least one phenomenal employee and I couldn't be more impressed with the level of professionalism and courtesy they showed. I generally expect tow truck drivers to show up a bit disgruntled, especially with an NFL divisional playoff game going on at the time, but to be as friendly as Andrew was clearly caught me by surprise. Great job Leucadia towing. Will definitely call upon your services if(or when)the hairpin on my distributor gear decides to snap again. more

We had a flat tire and AAA sent Leucadia Towing. They were prompt and courteous. Later, my wife went to the local tire shop and they claimed Leucadia Towing stripped the lug. I called Leucadia Towing and the owner investigated the situation. He confirmed his driver hand tightened the nut, so it must have been Evan's with their power tools that caused the damage. Rather than have us stuck between Leucadia and Evan's, Leucadia voluntarily paid for the replacement lug. They will continue to get all our business!! more

Tranny died on my Accord in Encinitas and had to call AAA. They dispatched Leucadia Towing. James called almost immediately after I hung up with AAA to give me an ETA which was very nice. James arrived within 20 minutes or so and was very friendly, cheerful and seemed to genuinely enjoy his work. He got the car on the bed quickly and dropped it off for me at the local Honda dealer. I hope to not need tow service again but if I do I will use Leucadia. Thanks again James! more

My girlfriend and i were coming back from San Diego, driving up the 5 freeway and my car decided to breakdown. i called AAA and they were sending me a local towing company in Del Mar. the conversation didn't go so well and i has serious doubts about this unknown company. i then called Leucadia Towing. Needless to say, they were very quick and the guy knew exactly how to handle our situation. more

I would call Leucadia Towing anytime! and recommend them to everyone! They are the most helpful and generous people ever! I am a high school student and went off campus for lunch and my friends put all their stuff in my trunk and i opened and set my purse and keys down and left my trunk open. By accident my friend closed my trunk and my keys were in there. I called Leucadia Towing and i asked if they could send someone down to help me. I had no money and the guy told me he'd charge me $40 instead of $50,and i told him my friend and i had no cash so he said that he'd still send someone down and we copuld figure something out till then. The guy showed up in literally 5 minutes! which was AWESOME!!!!! but better yet we had only come up with $20 bucks and he said that was okay!!!!!!! Like honestly i don't know what towing company or person would do that! I'm so thankful they helped me out! I called AAA and Leucadia Towing promplty showed up. Tim was really a nice guy and took great care of me. He even dropped me off at my house after we dropped my car off at my mechanics. I told him I could walk from the 101, but he insisted that he drive me up the hill. I didn't want him to have to go out of his way to do me a favor, but he was really great and dropped me off right at my doorstep. Thank you so much! I will definitely ask for Leucadia Towing should I ever need towing service again! more

It's too bad that people post negative feedback on here because of their own issues. Tow companies have a thankless job. I'm not particularly fond of any company that has towed me when I was parked illegally. If that's you, don't post. I bought a "":new"" Sprinter Van a couple of months back. With 170,000 miles I knew there would be issues. Literally on the way back into San Diego it broke down. A company downtown towed me to a shop they recommended as the service center for these vans. The shop installed a new battery at a charge of about $250. Two weeks later, driving home with afresh coat of paint, the van broke down on the 101. After an hour arguing with AAA about whether it classified as an RV or personal vehicle, Leucadia Towing was sent out. The driver took one look at the van and said there was no way he could fit it on his flatbed. I was livid. This driver not only CALMED ME DOWN but walked me through STEP BY STEP OPTIONS were. I was completely at a loss as no one in San Diego seemed to want to tow or work on the van. The driver was KNOWLEDGEABLE enough to teach me that with a diesel if you get it running the battery isn't necessary. He got it going and gave me the option of driving around the block to the tow yard to check it out or head down to the previous shop in OB at 5pm on a Friday. Although skeptical, I followed. The owner of the yard came out to help right away. Within 10 minutes the owner and 2 of his guys had FOUND AND FIXED THE SHORT. They WOULDN'T TAKE ANY MONEY FOR THE SERVICE. Although they aren't a shop they invested 3 people's time to fix my problem. On top of that the owner, Joe, SPENT 30 MINUTES giving me referrals and tracking down resources to help me take care of other issues with the van. Not only has Leucadia Towing provided me with AMAZING SERVICE, they truly embrace the sense of COMMUNITY we're so lucky to have in Encinitas. The last time the van broke down (yes it has happened 4 times in a few months). I drove the 22 miles in first gear to get close enough to Leucadia towing so that AAA would send them vs another company. The van had to have a transmission rebuild in LA and Leucadia Towing is the only company I felt safe sending the van there with. If you want reliable, HONEST service, USE LEUCADIA TOWING. more

The whole situation wreaked of DISHONESTY and a SHAKE DOWN!! I will NEVER call these guys for service!!! The driver showed up just as my son returned to get his car, granted my son should not have left his vehicle in the parking lot (new driver). My son told the driver before he even touched my son's car that the car belonged to him. The driver told my son to talk to the owner of the store and if the owner would cancel the order he would not take his car. When my son returned from talking to the owner with the owner agreeing not to tow the car, my son found his car being lifted by the driver. The driver said too bad and took the car anyway. The impound facility was only a couple blocks from the store. My husband and I went to the facility to talk to the tow company about the misunderstanding. The driver denied his statement. Since it was a Sunday, the manager said if we paid $200 cash we could have it right then otherwise we would have to pay more on Monday. The whole situation wreaked of dishonesty and a shake down!! I locked my keys in my car and called AAA for service. They sent out Leucadia towing. While the service was quick and customer service from their call service was RUDE. I had to give my work number which is a one line number that easily connects to voicemail if you aren't able to get through to our receptionist right away. Evidently their receptionist tried to call and wasn't able to get through right away and left a nasty message saying.. we are here to unlock your car.. but it doesn't help to give us a number that nobody answesr.. leucadia towing does not practice predatory impounds. the only time we remove a vehicle from private property is when the owner of said property calls us to remove the vehicle from their ""private property"". We are not in the business of ripping people off. In fact our impound rates are probably the lowest in town...If you have a problem with you car being impounded take it out on the property owner that wanted your car removed not us. more

On 7/26 I was at Solana Beach Tri - from 6am to 9am on a Sunday. Vehicle was towed from a lot of a vacant retail building. It took them over 1 hour to get my vehicle to tow yard (it took me 10 minutes to get there - and I didn't know where it was) and the driver threatened me upon getting out of his truck that ""if I was the person causing trouble for him - that I wouldn't get my car back until Monday"" this was in spite of the fact that there were 4-5 people there at the same time claim their cars from this similar scam. I was driving on I-5 south at night and this guy almost ran me off the road. I pulled up so I could see the phone number, and we called it to report that the driver was unsafe. Turns out the driver was the guy we called and he was extremely rude. I wouldn't trust this guy with my vehicle. Cons: Rude more
