Excellent Service! 1/3/2009

I've been to Leonardo's three times now and I must say, the food is great, atmosphere is awesome, and the chef is a very entertaining. Yesterday night was somewhat slow; however, this allowed the head chef, Terrence, to come out to the bar and entertain us with a variety of conversation topics. I was quite suprized to have had such delightful company. For a place I've rarely ever visited, the staff sure made me feel as if I were at home in my own dining room. Pros: Great service and good food! Cons: It was a little slow for my tastes, but fun none the less! more

Bad Italian Food 12/31/2008

What happened to this place? It has gone downhill??.it has fallen so far that there is no way to describe how good it once was and how bad it is now. Pros: Nice place........good location Cons: Food was so bad.......words cannot explain. more

Italian cuisine with a custom flare in Sugarland 12/23/2008

My wife and I met another couple out for dinner and drinks at Leonardo's on Dec 22nd. We had a great time accomodated by the friendly staff and the kitchen prepared some custom ordered ribeye steaks that were cooked to perfection. The Leonardo's Special pasta dish had an incredibley unique sauce and was sumptuous. Terrific location, heart-healthy food, varied wine list, and a classy ambiance all make this dining spot a winner. We highly recommend you give Leonardo's a try - you won't be dissappointed. Guys, great place to take the wife / girlfriend if you need to have a conversation. Also, would be a geat place to host a special event or dinner - manager will tailor a menu to fit any taste. Owner from NY - you'll get to meet him. Merry Christmas ! more

OVERPRICED, POOR MANGEMENT 12/17/2008

This place is not good! The food was OK, and the decor was nice, but the management was horrible! Way over priced! I went on a Friday night and the place was dead. The owner was so annoying and just blabbed about how rich and cool he was, basically ruined our night. more

No longer Sugar Land's best 12/9/2008

I made a reservation for a small Christmas party of 10 people for Sat., Dec. 6th at 6pm. I made the reservation at least two weeks in advance and had asked a lot of questions concerning gratuity, fees for a group of that size and how food would be served and billed for 10 people. We arrived and had slow service due to a chef quitting that night. Finally, after three different people's orders being wrong and one of us not getting to eat at all, we asked to speak with a manager. We told the manager of our bad service and he told us again about the chef and offered no apologies or compensation for at least the meal that was wrong. We just wanted to leave and asked for our checks. The manager informed us that it would all be on one check and could not split it between the 5 couples. I was not informed of this ""policy"" when I spoke with him on the phone. He told us it was on their website, which it is not. He also said there would be 22% gratuity for our party, which was also not specified by the person I spoke with when making the reservation. He told us that they get ripped off by people just throwing cash down to pay for the one bill, yet none of us were using cash. We all needed to pay by credit card separately. The manager started raising his voice in the middle of the restaurant and insulting us saying we were all there for a ""free meal"". We asked to speak with the owner and insisted on getting the bills split up. They allowed two of us to go back and speak with the owners. They told us gratuity was 20%, a different amount than their manager had specified. They were also of little help and insulted us again by saying it was our fault when we made the reservation. Meanwhile, the manager was threatening to call the cops on us, for what we weren't sure. They finally took our credit cards and had them for over 30 minutes before we were able to leave the restaurant. Other guests saw what was transpiring and asked us what was happening and left before ordering as well. Pros: Ambience - great location and feel Cons: Service - The owner and his wife need to watch Gordan Ramsey more

Great ambiance, ok food 11/15/2008

We decided to give Leonardo's a try when we were out and about in Sugar Land. There were some good reviews out there and we were in the mood for Italian. The location is very convenient, and the staff was personable and friendly. The decor is lovely and pays tribute to the restaurant's namesake (Mr. DaVinci). Unfortunately, the kitchen seemed a little harried and the food we were served was really only ok. When comparing the taste and portion size to the price we paid, I would say it's not really worth it. The food was decent, and if it were $10 a plate instead of $20, I would probably have no complaints. Pros: Ambience, menu variety, friendly waitstaff Cons: Value of the dishes more

Best Italian Food in Sugarland 11/10/2008

My wife and I tried this wonderful Italian restaurant that a friend had rocommended this has been the best recomendation ever. The ambience of the place is nice and romantic just right if you want to have a romantic dinner or a great get toghether with friends. When I made the reservation I told the hostess that it would be our aniversary that night. After we got seated the manager came over and gave my wife a signature Leonardos Lemoncello Martin on the house since it was our aniversery. The manager had asked us what were we in the mood for so we told him that we were not sure and he went in the back and cooked us up some great dishes. While the manager was cooking our meals he sent out some crabcakes that were the best crabcakes we had ever had. Then our meals came out I had a nice and tender filetmignon with some shrimp that had a lemon butter sauce served with a side of garlic mashed potatoes ( nice and creamy) my wife had a herb crusted swordfish with a sauce that was to die for served with some rissoto and grilled asparagus. Pros: Manager/ Ambience Cons: n/a more

Great Experience 10/29/2008

Leonardo's is a wonderful over all restaurant. The food is wonderful. I recommend to ask for the chefs specials because we have yet to be disappointed when ordering them. We have always had great service and the environment is warm. The pricing is fair for good Italian and if i could avoid ever going to an Olive Garden again i would. Leonardo's will show you what fair priced Italian food should taste like. Pros: Convenient Location, Great Food, Atmosphere Cons: NA more

Excellent food & service 8/27/2008

We have been here 3 times since it opened. The food is always great. The specials are exactly that...special. The service has always been attentive but not intrusive. The ambience is good, music is what I expect. We have bounced around the menu and wine list and not been disapointed. Now only if we could get a real pizza in Sugar Land, it would be the perfect place to live. Since Pinot's closed on Richmond this is the best Italian I have had. Piccolo's is good food but the setting is not so great. Anyway try it you'll like it. Oh,, by the way, the coffee here is good like I expect. Pros: Good food, good service Cons: None that come to mind more

Perry's Italian Kitchen has a replacement 2/23/2008

Ever since Perry's Italian Kitchen in New Territory was closed, we've searched for a replacement Italian restaruant. Leonardo's was a very enjoyable Italian restaruant and is very conveinent for Sugar Land. I liked it better than Amicci's (Towne Square) and Nicks Italian (FM 1464). Pros: No reservations needed Cons: As of May 2009, the restaurant has closed. more

Delicious Italian Dishes! 10/4/2007

My family received a phone call asking us to come and try the Italian Restaurant, Leonardo's. Upon arriving we were greeted graciously by a young lady who took us to an elegant window table. The atmosphere was serene and we felt as if we were back in Italy. The food was so delicious and the service exceptional, we plan on making Wednesday's Leonardo's night from now on! Thanks again for the phone call. Pros: Great location, great food and great atmosphere! Cons: Took a while for the food, but worth the wait. more

Great experience 9/20/2007

Food was fantastic, service amiable and thorough. Tuesday nights are the best deal. Buy one get one free steak night with the purchase of a bottle of wine. The steak matches that of the better steak houses in Houston. Definitely a regular dinning spot for me and my wife. Pros: Great specials, food is excellent Cons: Steak night isn't every night more

The Best Restaurant Experience in Sugar Land 7/17/2007

Great food! Great value! Unbelievable service everytime! Roberto and staff will provide you and your family with the best restaurant experience in Sugar Land. This is the first time I have ever posted a restaurant review, but felt the experience at Leonardo's warranted a raving review. You will not be dissappointed! Pros: Service more

Amazing customer service and personal attention, fabulous food and wine selection 2/28/2007

We dine out frequently and love to try new places. We have rarely experienced such amazing personal service and attention as we did at Leonardo's restaurant. We truly felt like we were in a restaurant in Italy. The food was very fresh and authentic, not like chain restaurants. We recommend the brushetta appetizer, seriously the best we have ever had. The menu was vast and very appealing. The manager, Roberto, was frequently at our table making us feel like VIPs. I can't remember the last time we had a restaurant experience like this. You really need to try this place for a quiet, romantic evening - perfect for a date night where you really want to enjoy each other's company - and feel like you are somewhere special. They have a really great wine list with lots of interesting Italian wines. This place is easy to get to as well, and the atmosphere has a quaint, neighborhood bistro feel to it. Bravo to Leonardo's - we will definitely go there again. Pros: Very personal service and will cater to you preferences more

Worth It 2/8/2007

This place is great, one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to since visiting Italy. My wife enjoyed her pasta dish and my steak was fantastic. The parking can be a challenge on the weekends but definitely worth it. Pros: Food/Ambiance Cons: Parking more

DISGUSTING!!!!!!!! 2/2/2007

This is NOT good Italian food. The ambiance was horrible, cramped tables in a TINY room having to basically sit on top of each other. The menu was limited and the pasta was not cooked all the way and cold and the sausage was BLAND. I don't have any idea why this Leonardo guy (or whoever ) is in business. He doesn't know how to run a restaurant. The waiter smelled bad...disgusting. I was very unhappy with the whole place. Pros: nice wall decor Cons: cramped tables, bad service, bad food more

Excellent Restuarant!!! 1/4/2007

Have been to Leonardo's three times now, once for lunch & twice for dinner. All I can say is, ""WOW!"" This place is so good. The service was excellent, the staff personable and the food outstanding. The Rosemary Lamb is out of this world! The breads are baked there daily and are excellent and have I mentioned the Crab Cakes? Excellent, the Crab Cakes are to die for. My husband loves the Gnocchi, It too, is out of this world. Romatic atmosphere and lovely decor. Highly recommend, an all around 5 star service!!! Pros: Crab Cakes, fresh breads & Rosemary Lamb Cons: Parking more

Sugar Lands best kept secret 1/3/2007

Sugar Land is known for having great restaurants (especially Italian). Leanardo's has been a favorite of mine since it has opened. Its captivating flavors and Real Italian menu is by far one of the best I have experienced. The Chef works magic with each dish I've tried, I love the Chicken Marsala with its saut'eed mushrooms and wine sauce. My wife's favorite is the Grilled Chicken Caesar salad which she says is fabulous. The wine list is superb and compliments each meal. The staff is friendly and very attentive to each of my needs. My wife and I enjoy the beautiful decor and romantic setting. Leonardo's raises the bar for other Italian restaurants. It truely is Sugar Lands best kept secret. more

Worse than the first place.... 12/28/2006

I visited Leonardo's for the first time and was really disappointed. We were looked up and down by the hostess and the waiter was rude. The waiter cut off my date while he was ordering and began talking to another table, then he walked off. I was appalled!! The baked ziti was greasy, definitely not baked, and it tasted like tomato soup. The ""marinara"" sauce that came with the calamari had the same canned soup taste. The salads were full of grease and not lettuce. My soup was watered down and we weren't even offered dessert. The bill was the only part of the meal the waiter was quick to get us. I worked in an Italian restaurant for years, and know that this is definitely NOT going to make it. If you love GREAT food, don't waste your money on this overpriced, mediocre restaurant....you'll be leaving hungry and disappointed. Pros: Beautiful decor Cons: terrible service, worse food more
