Good for Exotics 8/15/2011

After several veterinary hospitals refused to see my exotic pet, I was finally recommended The Lefferts Hospital. The staff was kind and courteous and saw my pet fairly quickly despite being very busy. The doctor was gentle and extremely professional and sympathetic: they worked with me on the billing for Jagged's tumor excision, overnight stay and antibiotic treatments. I recommend this hospital for anyone with exotic pets. more

A Smelly Dump 2/21/2011

The place is a dump. I sat in the waiting room for one hour staring at the piss on the floor that several of the workers passed right by and you couldn't miss the tremendous puddle. Finally a woman sitting there was so disgusted because first we had to listen to the 2 girls upfront bs'ing about the stuff they did over the weekend so she went up to the front desk and told them there was urine on the floor. They looked at her like she had 2 heads and how dare she interupt their conversation, then they said they will get somebody to clean it up. Well that somebody came about 20 minutes later. I can't believe that they didn't clean it up themselves!! The place had a bad odor and the waiting room is cramped, outdated, dirty and dismal. Can't comment on the Doctors because I was so appalled at the way the front girls spoke to people on the phone and even in front of them that I left as quick as I could. Stay clear my dear!! more

Compassionate & caring 2/9/2010

I had an elderly cat who became very sick, very quickly. Since she had always been healthy I did not have a vet. My cat had to be euthanized on a Sunday. I called Lefferts H they gave me an appointment that morning. The vet and the staff were so kind and caring at a most horrible time for me. I know that I will get another cat & will make Lefferts my vet for sure more

Good treatment but bad representation 10/10/2009

Lefferts Animal hospital is a good clinic. At least that has been my experience. Fairly good advice, good judgement for treatment and diagnosis. But, but, their personnel attending to the client is a little bit rough around the edges if not REALLY rough around the edges. They've failed to honor their Veterinary coupons, they mix things up confusing the client and you end up with a fight behind the counter amongst personnel and another one over the counter with the people that bring them the money to continue their operations and pay for the personnel that is treating you like trash. A situation worth submitting to Saturday Night Live skits. They need to honor their clients and serve them with more respect. It makes you come back and spend your money rather than finding another veterinary clinic. Pros: Good doctors Cons: Less than desirable personnel more

BEWARE 9/24/2008

If you must use this facility, by all means be vigilant, especially regarding your senior pet (and particularly your first and only pet). Please, demand access to test results: workups, x-rays, etc., noting any flags. Ask questions! If not, you could find out the hard way--in hindsight--that your pet had a terminal illness and they chose to cover up a definitive diagnosis and prognosis by ""treating"" a concomitant medical issue instead, so that they could make a tidy profit over and above the cost of euthanization, which was just the icing on their cake. Never trust that they are willing to educate you around the truth. Cons: vulture-like, greedy, cold, unethical staff more

Compassionate care in a rough situation 6/28/2008

While I cannot comment on their regular practices, we unexpectedly had to put our pet to sleep this week-end and I was extremely impressed by the vet's compassion during this very sad time. I am very grateful. Pros: Handled a difficult situation with great sensitivity Cons: Had to wait awhile for a staff person to escort me to upstairs bathroom more

Very Nice Vets and Wonderful Personal Staff 5/16/2008

I never wrote a review before - but I had to write a review about my experience at Lefferts Animal Hospital. I have French Bulldog that has had allergic reactions. They have always seen me and my dog - no matter what time, what day, they are open 7 days a week - and open late. They have always given me and my dog personal attention and have always charged reasonable rates. Vets are pricey, animals are expensive to maintain, I think the vets at Lefferts Animal Hospital are honest and caring. They called me the next day to see how my dog was doing, they follow up with personal attention that I have never received from any other vet. I would recommend this vet to family and friends without hesitation. Pros: Open 7 days a week, open late, reasonable rates Cons: You might have to wait an hour to be seen - they are busy more

not trust worthy workers 12/5/2007

I went there with a puppie . Each time i went there they gave me a new vet because i did not tell them i want the same one, which for me it is obvious to me. They charged me each time $100 for the shots. The last shots i needed i told the vet i need some kind of paper because i am planning to fly and he told to come back few weeks before my trip and he will give it to me for free. I want back there and manager herself told me that it has been to long since last visit and i have to pay $50 for visit and $75 for certificate. more

Really baaad!!! 11/12/2007

A really bad hospital. The vet called my dog overweight when she was wearing a chain and a harness. When asked what the normal weight was for her she was only two pounds overweight. They try to pressure you to buy the medication from them instead of outside where you can buy it for cheaper. After her bloodtest, my dog was in excruciating pain for several days. She could not sit and kept jumping up screaming. It seems they are more concerned about money than your pet's well being. I wonder how it got such a high rating when there is not one review. Pros: distance Cons: everything else more
