PROS :\r None. Stay far, far away!\r \r CONS :\r Hidden fees!\r Service fees are astronomical!\r Customer service is poor to non existent\r Shady business practices\r \r OVERALL :\r First of all, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS PLACE!!\r \r ""Locksmiths are required to be licensed in 14 states: Alabama, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.""\r \r How this place has been licensed since 1972 stumps me.\r \r Unfortunately my FIL was duped by Lazimi Lock & Key to buy a key system designed for commercial use (all he needed was 2 residential locks). They talked up this system to him knowing he only needed and wanted residential locks.\r \r Two locksmiths showed up and started working immediately without acknowledging us. Before you could blink an eye, they were presenting my FIL with a price that was MORE THAN THREE TIMES what we were quoted or expected. NEVER were we given information on extra fees. (Granted it was a weekend and we were sort of in a bind, but WOW!) My husband went out to complain about the price and got into a heated exchange with Adam B. (who we found out was fired recently - good riddance!) and he agreed to take off a substantial amount. Now of course there was a catch! He demanded we pay cash and he only wanted to deal with my FIL. At this point we just wanted them to leave so the money was paid and we decided that we'd chalk this up as a loss.\r \r If my husband wasn't around that day, the locksmith would've used even more coercive and intimidating tactics to strong-arm them into paying exorbitant fees for their so called locksmith services.\r \r Unfortunately we are STILL dealing with these jerks because they FAILED to provide my FIL with the DUPLICATION CARD that he NEEDS in order to make duplicates of the keys. Since we no longer want to ever deal w/ this company again, we NEED this duplication card in order for another locksmith company to create keys for us. We have been on the phone with these people and have been given the run around. I cannot tell you the lies the so-called owner and his employees have spouted. Not only do they say they gave us the duplication card, but they want to charge us MORE fees for coming out and/or giving us one. This is ridiculous!\r \r There is a reason why this place doesn't have one review on here that is positive. I hope the so-called manager Chris reads this and realizes he cannot get away with swindling people out of their money! STOP trying to strong arm people (the elderly) that come from an era where they were able trust people.\r \r We have also filed a complaint against this business through the Better Business Bureau. more

Watch out for these people. They are complete scammers and will rip you off. They don't even have an address and go by Lazimi Locksmith. Buyer beware. more

Do not do business with this company! 5/3/2012

I also wish they had a zero rating. This company misquoted me, saying the cost for the service would be $75, but quoted $120 once at my house. When I called the supervisor, he adamantly denied outright lying to me... unbelievable! I'm sure they frequently use this tactic. Do not do business with this company! more

Owner rushed in 4/15/2012

Owner rushed in, tells you all of your locks are ""crap"". Quotes you a high price for Mul-T-Locks. The owner drilled hole in front door and failed to put drop cloth down on marble floor. He looked puzzle and act like it was no big deal, when we saw the mess on the floor. Owner left screws out of door. Owner cut corners, looking to make fast buck, and hit and run. Be wary of this guy. Based on previous experience with Locksmith, I am wondering if they are not all crooks. more

I was locked out of my apartment. Security recommended these people. I called them and told them the address. They did not tell me what the price was for the service call or how much it would be to open the door. They arrived and the worker gave me a quote, which I felt was not reasonable of $160 dollars. When I stated that I believe that this was overpriced and wished not to pay this much for the lockout, the worker threatened me. He proceeded to stand up menacingly and said that he was going to get paid for making the service call. Since I was not told how much the service call or the fee for the door would be, I refused. He stated to threaten he was not going to leave until I paid him. I proceeded to call the original number that I was given and spoke to the man, who I assume will be the owner of the business. I asked him how much a lockout would be, and he still proceeded NOT to tell me how much it would be for the visit. Instead, he asked me how much the worker was asking for. The prices were not set and felt that it was appropriate to rip off the customer. He then started to threaten me with legal action. The worker began to make threatening comments. I asked him to leave, and he refused to leave (trespassing) unless he got paid. We negotiated the price, but I felt threatened by the owner and employee. They were not clear with their services, prices, and threatened the customer when customer did not agree to the service. Will consult attorney for legal action. How do these people stay in business??? more

Can you give a zero rating? 3/21/2012

Can you give a zero star rating? I went in to get keys made but walked out after 5 seconds. I walked into a room full of cigarette smoke. No one was there at the counter. I ended up leaving. Enter at your own risk. more

Great experience 3/18/2012

I called lazimi to schedule an appointment in my house. Chris answers the phone and was polite and professional. He gave me the prices over the phone and schedules a 3:00 appointment. Adam arrives on time and change my door locks. He matches my gate lock as well with no extra charge. The job was clean, fast and on time. The price was right and I even received free keys. I loved the service. Good job lazimi more

Very Misleading 3/11/2012

Called a key service to try to make the door easier to open. They responded and talked me into door that has keys that can only be made by them Very misleading. When discussing with key store they said this is a typical scam that makes it extemely difficult to have any other key company fix or make additional keys more

BEWARE!!!! 3/9/2012

BEWARE!!! I made the mistake of not asking how much the work was going to cost before he started to working on it and was charged OVER 600 for ONE DOOR. Here's the break down. Single Deadbutt 98.00 Labor to drill holes and install 95.00 Entry knob 89.00 Labor to install 95.00 1 Wrap around 68.00 Labor to install 65.00 Key both lock alike 20.00 each Service Trip 65.00 TOTAL = 615.00 (Less than 2 hours of work) I've been using contractors lately and everyone has been pretty honest so my guard was down. I should have asked for an estimate before the work. Call me crazy but this seem pretty ridiculous. For some perspective, I'm having a wall built in my living room and the contractor with 2 other guys have been working on it for 5 full days (frame, drywall, paint) and that only cost me 2100.00. I got ripped off and sharing so it doesn't happen to other people. I'm recommending www.torrancelock as a locksmith now for Torrance more

LAZIMI is a bad place to do business 12/8/2011

I gave one star although I want to give 0 stars. This place is really really bad. I am a senior citizen and am shocked and disgusted about how bad Lazimi Lock and Key is---if you want ethical and honest customer service. I read the various good reviews and I think those folks are wriitng about the old ownership or a different place, not the place that is operating now. I strongly suggest that Lazimi Lock and Key is a dishonest, unethical, devious, and generally a bad place to take your business. To my peril, I am a trusting individual who recently needed locksmith assistance. I am not an expert in locksmith technicalities so I trusted this neighborhood business that has been around for a long time to help me with good information and a good deal. I figured that a small independent business would be a good thing, but I was very wrong. It was a huge mistake to go there and I am trying here to make sure that no one else suffers from their bad practices. I was ripped off in several different ways by them, lied to about the quality and cost of the recycled products that I bought, and was intentionally misinformed by them about every detail (I know now in hindsight). They calculated every move so they could rip me off for the max and they defiantly will argue with you once their bad intentions are revealed. sure, I feel stupid and overly naive now, but I can honestly say these guys are snakes that are waiting in the grass for the unwary. They sold me some old locks as new locks and a garage door opener that doesn't work at highly inflated rates (3x online price) while telling me a pack of lies and falsehoods about just about everything. When I went back to return the goods they lied over and over and over again and were highly disrpectful, rude, unhelpful and dishonest at every turn. OK, they got their $300 but I hope they go out of business quickly so the world will be a better place! It is a scary concept---a dishonest locksmith? A guy coming into your home to set your locks who actually just wants to milk each customer to the max with garbage products and false info? I strongly suggest you avoid this place. more

Excellent experience 10/22/2010

I have to say that this is my first experience with Lazimi locksmith and it was excellent. My Call promptly answered by Bill, he gave me a 30 minute arrival time - at 6PM on a Saturday. He came on time; change my locks within 20 minutes. Reset my garage door opener, charged a decent fee and was very polite. I couldn't be happier! Other locksmiths company was going to charge much more for off hour visits! He arrives fully equipped with an impressive tool box and seemed to know everything about locks and keys. Great work, thank you. more

My favorite locksmith company 5/26/2010

Excellent service 6/9/2009

I had Chris from Lazimi out to re-key 4 locks recently. Took 40 minutes, job done correctly, price was as expected (50 trip + 20/lock = 130, w/ three keys thrown in). Chris was courteous and efficient to boot. So, I'm quite happy w/ Lazimi. Pros: Price as promised, quick good work more

Our favorite neighborhood locksmith 10/17/2008

We just bought a house last week, so we needed to have the locks changed on all the exterior doors, plus a deadbolt added to one door and a lock reversed on another We had a total of nine doors needing attention. For the record, no, my house does not have nine exterior doors. Some of the exterior doors also have security doors, which needed to be re-keyed as well. more

Good guys, great service 9/17/2008

These guys are fantastic. Our condo association had them out to fix the front door and the gate, and they were so nice and reasonably priced that we wound up hiring them to do a lot more for the whole building. Bill was great. The locks they sell are high-quality and the estimate matched the end price. All work was done quickly, efficiently, and professionally. I highly recommend them! Pros: Showed up on time, did a good job more
