Best

We came here because other places on the river were so crowded. We had great food in a great setting. The service was attentive and not obtrusive. It was a delightful evening...

Worst

Nice variety of tapas and a gorgeous space -- But, just a hotel restaurant--- service was lame and slow and seemed unknowledgable--esspecially when it came to drinks and wine!!! ...

Great for a date 1/6/2010

The atmosphere at Las Ramblas makes for a cozy dinner date. In addition to being along the riverwalk, the setting is calm and quiet. The prices for tapas range from $4 - $8 for a ""small plate"" and $19 - $31 for a ""big plate."" I was dissappointed that they were out of calamari on a Friday night, but everything else I ordered was great. They make a great mango mojito although its a little small for the price. The ""shrimp a la plancha"" was really good as were the ""patatas bravas."" What I enjoyed the most were the ""Cider braised spareribs"" They were great. Pros: Awesome Food Cons: Slow Service more

Great Food and Great Outside Seating 6/17/2009

We chose Las Ramblas for our anniversary dinner based solely on the Citysearch reviews. I was very pleased with the meal and the service. We were able to sit outside and the restaurant was situated on a quiet stretch of the Riverwalk. I would recommend Las Ramblas to anyone who would like a nice meal that will not break the bank. Pros: Has a nice variety more

Scrumptious 9/8/2008

My boyfriend recently discovered this place and boy what a find!!! We have gone back 2 additional times since our first visit. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is always welcoming. Whether it is a girls night, guys night, or a romantic date this is the place to be. The sangria is wonderful and constantly flowing. The tapas are delicious, especially the Goats Cheese. Everything we ate there, including dessert, is scrumptious and extremely fresh. It is the perfect place for any occasion. If you want to have a great time and eat well I recommend this place highly!!!! more

Good to go back 4/26/2008

I visited the restaurant on the first Saturday over Fiesta. It was a while since my wife & I had been, so we were a little anxious after reading mixed reviews. more

Good Times 4/24/2008

Good food, friendly service, great atmosphere, a great time had all around by myself & my party. more

Could they even find Spain on a map? 4/18/2008

The food isn't awful but it IS NOT Spainish cuisine. The Cataplana is okay but how hard is it to mix garlic, vegetables, seafood and wine? Anyone could make that edible. It just seems to me that the menu came together after a cook book shopping trip to Borders. Go to Spain. Eat real Spainish food. Pros: Pretty and the patio is nice. Cons: Service is awful. Food is not real Spainish cuisine. Very odd floor plan. One larger party took up so many tables it left the restaurant very bare. more

Very Romantic 2/23/2008

My hubby & I had a very nice time. We will be back. more

Las Ramblas 2/23/2008

Good Food Cons: The poor reviews they have goten in the past more

What has happened to this place? 6/8/2007

I kept coming back because of the friendly staff that always recognized me, but my familiar faces are gone. Who are these people? The service has gone down hill. Way down hill! It used to be a friendly, well ran place but now it seems like NO ONE knows what they are doing. Oh the food is pretty good but stick with a meal of tapas because the entrees are over priced & the tapas are just better than the entrees. Pros: good tapas Cons: bad service bad management more

Dinner with friends 12/26/2006

Friday night I headed out in downtown San Antonio with five friends looking for a great meal before painting the town red. One of my friends recomended Las Ramblas, he had gone there on a date last month. Without any expectations we headed to the restaurant, the next thing I know we are sitting in a amazing restaurant passing tapas, (we must have ordered 15 of them) and drinking pitchers of sangria. Our waitress was fantastic and helped us every step of the way with the menu and what to order. I would bet from the time that we arrived to the time we left 10 people said hello and asked us how our night was going, it's hard to find that anymore. All in all a great way to start out the night, I will be back, next time with the girlfriend. Pros: Great assortment of tapas, riverview, friendly staff Cons: no smoking more

A Christmas Miracle 12/26/2006

My wife, mother in law and two children stopped when we passed it on the riverwalk, and it turned out to be a fantastice idea. We did have a slight wait because we had no reservation but the manager and hostess were very accomidating. The restaurant was gorgeous and the food was terrific, even though we had the buffet our waiter treated us like we were royality. This was our first trip to San Antonio and when we come back we will definently return and recommend to all of our friends. Pros: On a quite stretch of the riverwalk more

A good experience on Christmas Eve 12/25/2006

My wife and I dined at Las Ramblas on Christmas Eve 2006 and had a wonderful experience. We shared a number of their tapas and each was tasty. The service was excellent and made very good recommendations in helping us pick from the menu offerings. To top it off, the total bill was $80 including tip and wine. We will come back when we return to San Antonio. Pros: Location, views of riverwalk, varied menu of tasty tapas dishes Cons: Nothing of note more

A Dinner to Remember 12/7/2006

Last weekend I decided to take my girlfriend down to Las Ramblas for dinner and drinks. Although we dine out quite a bit, this night was one that we won't soon forget. The atmosphere, service and food made it one of the most enjoyable dinning experiences that I have had since moving to San Antonio over two years ago. Pros: Food, Service, On the Riverwalk Cons: A little hard to find (It's in the Hotel Contessa) more

Paella?? 11/29/2006

Met some friends from KC at Las Ramblas and we were all excited to sample some fine Spanish cuisine. The dining room was extremely hot (door was left open to the patio dining area). Our waiter was good and it was unfortunate that he was not cooking the food. My wife and one of our guests ordered the Paella and they were extremely disappointed. The clams were of a decent size and we suspect it was because they ate the rest of the seafood that the paella was supposed to come with. It was obvious the dish was either prepared in advance and reheated or whoever was cooking had not experienced what paella is supposed to look or taste like. All in all, Las Ramblas will be off the list for us. Pros: On the Riverwalk Cons: The food more

As previously noted by others, AWFUL service 5/28/2006

Unforunately, our experience at Las Ramblas was similar to that of other diners. At first everything was nice, but it quickly went downhill. The waitress ignored our meal requests, bringing out salad with dressing on top instead of the side and an appetizer we hadn't even ordered. As we began to order, our waitress suggested we sit at the bar if we were going to get glasses of wine and tapas. We asked the waitress to bring out things as they were ready, but everything came out together. We told her we'd be ordering more wine and tapas throughout the evening, but she later said the kitchen was closed but if we wanted anything else she'd see if she could get it for us. Then she had the nerve to come back and ask if we'd like dessert. The food, however, was very good - especially the Shrimp Samfaina. Pros: good food, nice wine list Cons: bad service, bad service, little pricey on wine more

Valentine's Day Romance 5/15/2006

Didn't experience any of the bad service some have said about this place. My wife and are are locals tried it for the first time on Valentine's day. You would think that the service would have suffered on such a major dining day, but it was great. The restaurant wasn't even that crowded (probably because it was so new). Our server was very helpful and knowledgeable. The view from the river was absolutely wonderful. The food was even better. Extremely delicious. What made this even better was the fact that my wife is allergic to Soybeans (which makes dining out very difficult as soybean oil is a large component in vegetable oil, which is in turn used in almost every restaurant) the chef uses a lot of olive oil (which is an indication of how important the food is to the chef). Pros: Use Olive Oil, Not crowded more

Beautiful space but, What a waste!!!! 5/15/2006

Nice variety of tapas and a gorgeous space -- But, just a hotel restaurant--- service was lame and slow and seemed unknowledgable--esspecially when it came to drinks and wine!!! Very dissappointed over all- ladie Manager rude and curt did not seem to care on e way or the other-- Nice place maybe to hang with a water for the parade?? Pros: beautiful view, valet, bar Cons: service, management, food more
