Best

Nikki was my doc from 1982-approximately 1990. Best EVER!

Worst

Since Nikki left the practice has descended into chaos. I've seen Amy Kurzrok twice so far, and I liked her and felt well cared for both times. What I don't like is the way the fr...

i love my doctor! 9/15/2007

my first visit to dr. nikki lang many years ago was an impressive one. the office was/is in a lower-level and gives the feeling of a cozy den in someone's home. rarely is anyone waiting for an appointment. at that time there was even a glassed-in corner with children's toys. nikki entered the room wearing jeans and proceeded to interview me in a casual, non-threatening manner, concerned. no matter when i am there, she takes her time, answers my endless questions, does not hesitate to ask about my family, work, or current events. the staff is as personable as can be, and always manages to squeeze me in for an urgent appointment, often the same day. phone calls are answered promptly and the prescriptions always do the trick! when dr. lang once informed me that she was taking singing lessons, i coaxed her to demonstrate, and she broke into a few bars of "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus". seriously, how many doctors would do THAT? she is smart, funny, interesting, and professional. i changed docs numerous times until i finally found one in whom i feel totally confident. more

Saved my life... 9/13/2007

I have also been a patient of Dr. Lang's for more than 20 years. Thanks to her expert care and ongoing health lessons and suggestions, I am a healthy middle-aged woman. Three days ago, I was in a head-on collision caused by a person who lost control of her vehicle and is being charged with careless driving. All the witnesses, EMT's, emergency room staff, police officers, tow and salvage guys, and the doctor who operated on my -- get this -- dislocated toe, have said it's AMAZING I wasn't killed. As I said to Dr. Lang this morning, I think it's all due to her encouragement to get stronger by working out at the gym and her consistent efforts to keep me healthy over the years. How's that for good medical care? I have also had positive experiences with her new colleague and, as for the office staff, they've never been anything but helpful and patient. more

dr. lang and her staff are the best! 9/13/2007

my entire family (my two sons and my husband) have been patients of dr. lang for 20 years. both of my sons are now grown men (the oldest is 29 y/o and the youngest is 25 y/o). i can't praise dr lang or her staff enough. i can't tell you how many times i called the office panic stricken about one thing or another, from school forms that needed to be completed ASAP! or someone needing a prescription filled (even after hours). my requests were always met with patience and good humor by dr. lang and her staff. my oldest son had a routine appointment and dr. lang took one look at him and referred him to an endocrinologist. my son was diagnosed as having graves disease. the endodrinologist was amazed by the fact that my son was referred to her atsuch an early stage as most people who came to the practice have had many misdiagnoses before they finally were seen by her. i have referred friends to dr. lang's office and they have thanked me as she is the best doctor they have ever seen. i could go on and on about my positive expierences with doctor lang and her staff. after a read some of th negative reports about dr lang and her staff i made sure i called her office and assured them that the malcontents who gave her office negative reviews were in the minority. sincerely, marie m more

Quality Care 9/12/2007

Nikki Lang has been my doctor for over twenty years. During this time I have received only the highest quality care possible. She has been very responsive to my medical needs and has a wealth of knowledge. I highly recommend Dr Lang to anyone who is in need of medical attention. more

Wealth of Knowledge 9/12/2007

I have been going into Dr. Lang’s office for over five years now and have never been disappointed. Dr. Lang is a wealth of knowledge not only in the medical field but also as far as nutrition is concerned. I have referred several friends to her practice and they have all been more than pleased with her and her staff. more

Sometimes a doctor is just a doctor (and not your mommy or nanny) 9/12/2007

Before I share my experience with Dr. Lang and her office staff, let me put my comments into a larger context: I have been Dr. Lang’s patient since 1986. Let me do the math . . . that’s 21 years. I even left her care once then came back because I couldn’t find a better doctor in my geographic area. I travel about 30 to 40 minutes one way to see her. I dread the day she retires from practice. Dr. Lang essentially saved my life in 1986. I had initially been neglected by three other doctors regarding potentially serious complications from a chronic medical condition (disgnosed in 1974), then I went to Dr. Lang. She admitted she didn’t know what was causing the symptoms I was having (I like humility in my doctors) and referred me to an appropriate specialist (whom I also still see, by the way), who took good care of me regarding that problem. Since then, she has solved many medical issues for me or directed me to the specialiats I needed. Yes, she can come off a little cranky and abrupt; the same for her office staff. If you’re looking for a warm and fuzzy experience, Dr. Lang and her staff aren’t it; come here only if you want your medical problem alleviated. I will say that Dr. Lang is very intelligent and funny; has a lot of medical common sense; and almost always has time to answer my numerous questions. Her office staff almost always expertly handles my complicated prescriptions and referrals. In these 21 years, I can count only three (in my opinion) negative encounters I had with Dr. Lang and/or her staff. Coming from someone who has a complicated chronic multisystem illness with a lot of ancillary medical conditions as well as a veritable army of medical specialists, them’s pretty good odds! more

Dr. Lang and the office staff 9/12/2007

Myself and my husband have been going to Dr. lang and the same staff for year's.We just can,t believe that over all those years we have never had a negative moment.Dr Lang is so professional and funny and understanding,as well as down to earth. The staff is awesome.DRLang and her staff have assisted us thru many health care crises over the years infact I give her credit for saving my life. I think the health care industry is s a mess but thanks to the thoroughness of the staff there is at least one place you can rely on to make your life simple more

Just plain rude 9/7/2007

I agree with all of the posts here. The staff at this office is just plain rude, and I find it unacceptable! I understand that the office is a cave and they probably have to deal w/ stressful situations like paperwork, insurance and clients, but as if the rest of us don't have our own work-related gripes! In a medical environment, where many people are uncomfortable in the first place, is it really too much to ask for the staff to be kind and maybe even greet the clients with a hello or a smile? 9 times out of 10 I leave that office with my blood pressure elevated b/c I'm so irritated! Luckily, I see Dr. Kurzrok, and I really can't see how such an amazingly warm woman could tolerate an office full of such negative energy. I plan to continue to see Kurzrok, but won't be surprised if I decide to switch b/c I'm fed up with the staff. It's really a shame. more

Self Absorbed Doctor! 8/21/2007

Nikki Lang has been my GP for several years. At first she seemed pretty decent, but in the past couple of years has just got plain nasty. I rarely visit the doctor, I am fit, healthy and athletic and on the odd occasion I do get sick I usually just deal with it. However, earlier this year I went down with some kind of virus which really wiped me out for over a week. Not able to shake it off, I succumbed to a Dr's visit. After waiting for 90 minutes, Dr Lang saw me for about three minutes, implied that I was just being a hypochondriac ( even though I felt horrendous) and was only interested in getting me to sign up to a website to buy a book she'd written! On other visits she has brushed off my health concerns and I have found she just likes to talk about herself or people that she knows. One of my business clients also sees this physician and when Dr. Lang discovered our connection, she saw fit to discuss my ailments with this person!! Ok, so it was only a foot injury and nothing especially personal, but still, what ever happened to Dr / Patient confidentiality?? more

Just see Amy Kurzrok 8/14/2007

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Lang as well. I went in with serious joint pain and she was dimissive, rude and simply suggested I lose weight (I was 9 pounds underweight at the time, she didn't read my chart beforehand to know and I assume I just looked pudgy in my sweatpants). She does not put much stock in clinical diagnosis and only seems to believe in the virtue of medical findings. Unfortunately, I had selected her practice and my carrier does not let me switch easily, so I had to go back. I had the good fortune of seeing Amy Kurzrok the next time, who is exactly what a general practioner should be. She was friendly, patient and caring---she even took time to discuss some concerns I had regarding an unrelated health issue. The staff isn't great...but in my experience, they rarely are---if you are in the same situation as me, I suggest you simply see Amy and do without Nikki whenever possible. As a FN, Amy is a DO--I know there are debates about the "validity" of osteopaths versus MDs, but I have to say, I have had nothing but good experiences with DOs. Apparently, they are actually taught to listen to their patients in med school, imagine that! I do think part of why I trust Dr. Kurzrok is because I think she actually listens to me and is interested in my overall health, not simply solving the current ailment. more

If I could give negative stars, I would 8/3/2007

I have had nothing but problems and bad treatment from Dr. Lang and her office. On the phone she and her staff are plain rude (Call about an ongoing billing issue on a Friday at 5:39 p.m., Dr. Lang herself answers and says, interrupting me, "You have to call back on Monday." Then hangs up. Never mind that I wouldn't even be calling except that her office had supposedly taken care of this issue over a month ago. Even worse though is that she complete ignores my questions and concerns when I'm in her office for a visit. I would strongly recommend not visiting this doctor. more

A little pushy 3/19/2006

I was a little put off by Dr. Lang. She has a very distinct idea of how she thinks people should do things (i.e., lose weight), and that's the way things are. She talks and talks about what she thinks, but I never felt like she listened or even cared that I had any thoughts. I only called her office again because I had a serious issue, and I found that the other doctor in her practice, Amy Kurzrok, was amazing and completely the opposite. I don't doubt that Dr. Lang is a good doctor, but she really, really rubbed me the wrong way. The office staff and nurses/techs are kind of hit or miss too. If you catch them all on good days, they're nice enough, but I hate that they so blatantly ignore me when I've signed in and just want to give them my co-pay (so I sit down, and a minute later, they ask for it). more
