I had to look up the phone number for Lane as we replaced our dryer vent and their stickers was on it. I can't believe the reviews I've been reading here and on Yelp! I have used Lane Appliance I was referred to them through Arts TV & Appliance in the late 80's after buying new appliances for our first home. I have NEVER had a bad experience with Bob, his wife who answers the phone or his son who came once or twice. Never. They have always been prompt in returning a call, quick and efficient in fixing what needs fixing and honest in telling me it's worth it or not. I would recommend Lane to anyone who asks and often do. more

I cannot imagine what those people are doing writing those nasty and negative reviews. I will continue to use their services and recommend them to anyone who nneeds such services. more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! 4/21/2012

Yesterday afternoon a Lane repairman came to our home to ""de-ice"" our freezer drawer on our refrigerator. Ice accumulated under the drawer and would leak from underneath. The freezer worked, but water leaked out. This was his second time attending to this problem (the first time was months ago). Apparently this ""just happens"" and there is no permanent repair?? Anyway, we realized this morning that the fridge is not cooling or freezing AT ALL. We called and were informed that they don't work on Saturdays (""No one does"") and could come Monday mid-day. When I stated that since it HAD been working before the tech ""fixed it"" and now we were losing all of the food in our fridge and freezer, the woman said she couldn't offer anything more. I was upset of course and said ""Even if your tech caused this to happen?"" She then became quite rude, said ""We don't break appliances, we fix them"" and ""How can you, someone with no knowledge, possibly say that we caused this to happen?"" Maybe because it was working before your tech touched it? I have stopped payment on the check and have called the appliance manufacturer for a referral to another authorized repair service. Interestingly, Lane is no longer listed with them as an authorized repair company (they had been the first time we used them). This is particularly note-worthy since TODAY the woman on the phone claimed otherwise when I asked her that question. I only wish I had read these reviews before calling Lane..... more

Go elsewhere! 3/21/2012

Placed a service call for our refrigerator, the vegetable bins were freezing our veggies. Jeff came out, pulled out the draws, reset the temperature controls said to wait a week & see what happen didn't know what was wrong & charged us $90.00. A week later vegetables were still freezing, placed 3 calls to have him call me back finally did, gave me a price to order a part (don't know what he was ordering, guess I should have asked) I advise him I would call him back. Called the office set up an appointment with the women who answerd the phone to fix the refrigeator. On the day of the appointment received a call early in the a.m. to confirm & was asked if I wanted to make it for earlier durning the day, said that would be fine. Received a call a few minutes later & was asked what was order, I told her I didn't know. Well neither did she & no one else knew what was going on, I was asked to wait until the following Monday when Jeff returned from vacation. Monday came & went no call, I called on Tuesday, told Nancy I was unsatisifed with the service I received she put Bob on the phone, went over the situation with him, told him I would call a certified GE repairman & to refund me my money which he agreed to an apologized. Then Nancy & Jeff called, Jeff said I never got back to him, told him Ididn't have his number called the office & told whoever answered the phone to order what was needed & set up appointment. He said the part wasn't order because no deposit was given, I was never asked for a deposit. Just told him to end it here send me my money back. A week later I called because I didn't recieve my money back. Nancy answered, wouldn't let me speak with Bob, didn't want to speak with her, she is obnoxious & rude & needs training in customer service. Anyway she would sent back my money, told me I never had an appointment..how can that be I asked when somone called to confirm, she didn't know what to say about that...then told me she could belive I was acting so foolish over $90.00, and hung up on me! \r I can't believe they are stil in business, in reviewing this site and Consumer Affairs there are numerous complaints about Lane Appliance in North Haven, I only wished I had checked on them before having them come to my house, a lesson learned for the future. Needless to say I called GE directly, they came out & fixed the refrigeator, it was an electrical problem which goes to show that Jeff didn't even know what the problem was. \r Go elsewhere..they people are horrible! more

Horrible Customer Service! 1/10/2011

We had been doing business with your company for about 10 years. We had good experience with the service people. However, the office is another story. I called the office this morning to inquire about a missed appointment this past Friday. When I made the appointment, I gave my cell number and asked for a call approx. 10 minutes prior to your arrival. I never received a call. I was told by the office manager/co-owner that they had, in fact, been there and that you had called prior to arriving. I asked what number you had called and was told that she did not have that “in front of me.” Rather than apologizing, she told me that you were both very upset about it. I replied that I was upset as well and that I would make other arrangements. She said “Fine” and we both hung up. We run a service business ourselves and I can tell you that we do not speak to our clients that way. I checked my cell phone records for that afternoon and I have no missed calls recorded on my account. Absent the attitude I received on my call today, I would have been perfectly happy to reschedule. If this was the first time I felt mistreated calling your office, I would also likely have rescheduled. I have had enough. \r \r PS The woman called me back 10 minutes later on my cell and said: ""I know you are not going to do business with us anymore, but This is the number we have on our service report."" I told her that I did not receive a call on Friday and she hung up on me mid-sentence. Wonderful! more
