Great Oysters & Lobster 4/12/2013

Well huhm........let's start with the positive: The oysters were good, the lobster was very good, and Landry's has put the Ribeye steak back on the menu. Also, the management and waiter were very accomodating in correcting mistakes. However, my wife's Ribeye that she ordered ""medium-plus"" was delivered blood-rare, inside. My Blackened Redfish Etoufee arrived without the crawfish and sauce, and my daughter's planked salmon was less-than-stellar, judging by my daughter's face, and her meager attempt to eat any of it. I think Landry's should just start by trying to hold onto the current staff, and just work with them on getting things right. The constant change in management and waitstaff, just proliferates the problems. I keep hoping that Landry's will level-out into being an upscale, stable, consistent restaurant. But after 10 years of hoping.........all I can do is to continue to hope. PS: Put the condiments back on the tables. Having to beg and hunt down waitstaff to get condiments is ridiculous. Pros: Best Oysters and Lobster in Houston Cons: Service can sometimes be unpredictable, but it's been improving more

Eh, Landry's Is Slipping Again 1/29/2013

As of 1/26/13; The changed menu no longer offers fresh, whole, stuffed flounder. The ribeye has also be changed to a NY Strip, which my wife sampled. Her steak was dry, tough, and not good quality. The Oysters Rockefeller were good, but the oysters were very tiny. Service was okay, but not great. Pros: Ocean view, Lobster tails, Mahi Mahi, Oysters Rockefeller, Ribeye Steaks Cons: Charging $6 and up, to park at the Boardwalk now more

bad service!!! 4/24/2011

I usually like Landry's but this one was not up to snuff. The bartender didn't seem to care if we were there or not. The hostess was out of it. The waiter we got was sweaty, snotty, and just down right rude. The food was just like any other Landry's......yada, yada, yada..... The view is unbelievable. So I give them one star for the view. more

Worst Landy's that I have been too! 10/19/2010

We were in Kemah for the weekend, and we were enjoying some fantastic spaghetti at The Terrace Cafe for lunch, and we asked the owner where we could go for good seafood for dinner. He suggested Landry's, The Flying Dutchman, or Red Sushi. We tried Landry's and the food was ok, but our waiter, A. J. , was stuffy and rude. I felt like we were putting him out when we asked for something. The view was awesome and the decor was warm and cozy......but the service was no better than a Denny's. more

Scrumtuous! 8/20/2010

Landry's has really improved over the last couple of years. They serve the best stuffed flounder I have had in many years. They also make the best oysters rockefeller of any restaurant in town. While service can still sometimes be hit and miss, it has shown some overall improvement. For great seafood and a wonderful view of Galveston Bay, this is the place! We're hoping that Gulf Oysters make a return soon, following the BP Oil disaster in the Gulf. Until then, the Blue Point oysters that are now being served, are the next best thing. more

Great seafood!!! 5/18/2009

It's about a 35-40 minute drive for us + the wait once you get there but it is well worth it! We've had the Stuffed Shrimp Enbrochette to start with. Mmm...to lick your fingers! My fav seafood is shrimp so I get the Jumbo Shrimp Platter which has shrimp cooked 4 different ways. I love this plate! I haven't tried their dessert but I have tried their Bloody Mary and Cosmopolitan, and they're good. If you can get a seat by the window at night it has a romantic feel to dinner. Pros: The view, the food Cons: The drive, the wait more

Agreed! 3/1/2009

This restaurant is sooo goo and i agree with wade then he said ""Landry's makes the best Oysters Rockefeller I have tasted anywhere in Houston. Order a dozen and try them for yourself. They have made a grand reopening, following Hurricane Ike, and are doing better than ever. We love having a leisurely dinner here while watching Galveston Bay and the boats. Try a glass of wine, some oysters, maybe the lobster bisque or shrimp cocktail, then make your way to a main entree. The lobster tais here are downright insiring; they broil them with butter until they come out fluffy and hot, then serve them with melted clarified butter."" This place has amazing food and oysters! Best restaurant in Kemah!!!!! ENJOY!!! O YES and i want to make it aware that wade's comment for polo's signature was deleted because polo's didn't like the comment! so \r \r \r \r Dear polo's, \r \r If you see this i am saying accept what people say!! The Service was sukkish!! REFEGES!!!!!! ACCEPT IT! Pros: Food and service! Cons: Nothing whatsoever! more

What an enjoyable dining experience 6/30/2008

We ate again at Landrys at Kemah. The experience was very good. First of all, we request a table outside on the water. Many people don't know that the channel from Clear Lake is the only one leading to the bay. The boats have to down here and you get to watch them from your perch (table). The boats navigate down the ""wake-free"" zone and at the Landrys point, they can ""gun-it""!!! Great way to enjoy a seafood meal. Landry provides unlimited salad with entrees. You simply ask for more if you wish. You also get complimentary garlic bread if you ask. There is a special off-the-menu appitizer that feeds 5-6 people for $20-something dollars. It had fried fish, onion rings, fried jalapenos, french fries, fried mushrooms, and MORE. You HAVE to have a lot of people to eat it. Every fish plate we have ordered has been good, especially the grilled salmon. But, it you order a shrimp or oyster poor boy, it does not come with the comp. salad. Then stroll the boardwalk and walk off the feast!!! But, when we went they started charging $6-$7.00 for parking. Add this to the gas prices to drive there and you might want to eat more locally. Reservations ARE recommended. There was a one-hour wait when we went for those who didn't pre-plan with reservations, and this was on a regular non-holiday night. Pros: All seafood is great. Cons: Parking fee :-( more

best seafood for a reasonable price 11/23/2006

conveniently located on the kemah boardwalk with a touch of cozy seafaring, laid-back decor ... this is a great place to dine with friends or for a romantic dinner for you next to a wonderful view of the gulf. a very popular restaurant and rightly so, the seafood is decently priced, reflecting the quality. surely won't disappoint.* Pros: location Cons: crowded more

You Don't go to the Coast to go to a Place You can go to at Home in the Local Mall 9/10/2006

Go here only if your choices are Landry's or Denny's. You'll be right at home with the same cookie cutter national chain food you can find anywhere, I mean anywhere else. If you are looking for average, hum-drum, predictable and as exciting as your neighborhood cleaners, look no further. You can take great comfort in knowing your fried commissary fresh meal is already waiting under the heatlamps. Lucky You, who'd a thought you get all the way down to the coast and find the same restaurant they have back home next to the ol Roadway Inn? Woo-hoo, you'll have great memories to cheerish back at home on your couch!!! Pros: Like the Old Dodge Dart, You know what it looks like, you know what to expect Cons: Kinda sad to pass the Landry's back home by the WalMart to travel all the way down here for this more

Best seafood around! 7/7/2006

If you want to enjoy great seafood with an awesome environment, GO to Landry's Seafood House! Perfect place to settle after you've walked the boardwalk. Pros: Great food, fast service, food portions Cons: None! more

Catch the View 6/25/2006

The view isn't the only good catch! Even if it's for just an appetizer, this place is a great experience on the Boardwalk. I'll be coming back. Pros: Great view of bay, main courses good, good fried selections more

If you have eaten at one of these resturants you have eaten at them ALL.... The food and environment is too close to fast food. more

Traditional Favorite 5/20/2005

I've eaten at this restaurant since 1965, so it has loads of memories for me. Everything is good, and everytime I've been there the service has been fine. I admit I liked it more before the Kemah boardwalk took over everything. Pros: Good Eats, Varied Menu, Views Cons: Crowded, Too Busy, Boardwalk more

Dissapointed 9/10/2004

My husband and I and my 2 girls went to landrys on 9-10-04. we got there at 8:30 and from the beginning our service was bad. It was hot and we had to ask 4 different times for childrens menus. We ordered and we finally got served at 10:00. We were about to leave. Our food was bad, it had no flavor and for the price we had to pay they gave you hardly no food. Our waiter was bad. I told my husband i will never come here again. My kids were falling asleep at the table. My husband told the manager it took 1 1/2 for us to get our food, so he cut our bill in half. Landrys has gone down so bad. and the prices gone up. Pros: nice view Cons: , less food, bad service more

Too much fried stuff 11/14/2002

Many of the restaurants owned by Landry's is a large amount of fried foods. It's definitely not for the person looking for more healthy choices. On one occasion we ordered our appetizer (great chowder) and our main dish. My husband ordered the blackened salmon. 45 minutes later our meals FINALLY arrived. I received my blackened salmon--no harm done. But, as for my husband, they charbroiled his instead and he absolutely hates charbroiled fish. He told the waitress about the error. 5 minutes later, what does she bring out? The SAME charbroiled fish which has been blackened. He was so ticked off that he hate he ended up eating off my plate. We weren't sure if the waitress thought we were idiots, but we vowed never to go there again. She didn't even apologize for the error. Pros: Chowder Cons: Service, Ignorance, Price more

wonderful 8/8/2002
