Dr. Brooks is angry... 9/23/2014

I have transferred my pet to another vet due to the aggression and lack of professionalism Dr. Brooks displayed when I went to pick up my mom's dog. She said she left a credit card, but they didn't show it on record. Even though my family has been going to that vet since 1995, they wouldn't release my mom's pet to me without payment and Dr. Brooks even took it as far as locking me in check up room and yelling at me to turn over the dog. Needless to say, he has rage issues.... I can only imagine how he treats an animal that angers him. I will NEVER go here again and wouldn't trust Dr. Brooks alone with a flea. Not worth going some where that you can only trust one of the twp vets on staff! Just search the internet, you will find he displays this behavior regularly. more

Highly recommend 5/10/2014

I have used this hospital since July 2008 until his passing this week, for my 17year old Shiba-Inu Max. This breed can be difficult and Max was no exception, especially when it came to who was "allowed" to treat him. From the very beginning, I felt Dr. Rezler understood the breed and showed affection, knowledge and respect to my Max. In the last year, with his aging and symptoms of Addison's disease, I felt there was a balance in how aggressively to treat him and when to pull back, both for financial reasons and respecting his age. I was supported by Dr. Rezler and the staff in these last few months with the ups and downs of decision making and appreciated the time spent with me by Dr. Rezler when we finally put him down. In two emergencies with Max, one being out of state, Dr. Brookes, by phone, was informative, wise and accessible and helped me to make important decisions during stressful times. more

My mother's cat was misdiagnosed by a Lakeside. My mother, who is 80, took her cat in due to ear and balance problems. They immediately diagnosed "ear mites", sent her home with meds for that cat and others in the household, while demeaningly referring to her as "dearie". Costing her $100s (not to mention hours of at home treatments), for a cat she has to now euthanize for a tumor that could have been treated if diagnosed properly. Shame on them. I would NEVER take an animal there again.\r \r If you are not cognizant to ask solid questions, don't go here. They'll take advantage of you. more

Lakeside Animal Hospital 9/30/2010

My wife and I have been using Lakeside Animal Hospital for over 10 years. 6 years ago we moved from Commerce Twp and now drive 40 minutes one-way to bring our pets to Lakeside.\r \r Dr. Rezler & Dr. Brooks have ALWAYS given our pets EXTRA-Ordinary service, and our dogs are always happy to see them. They truly seem to enjoy helping animals. We have never felt rushed, and they have always taken the time to answer all of our questions.\r \r We have used Lakeside for both normal vaccinations, skin conditions, and surgeries. Twice we have had to use after-hours emergency clinics, but always come back to Lakeside for follow-up care.\r \r We have found their prices to always be reasonable and will continue to use them. Their NORMAL Sunday hours have been extremely helpful in this day when so many vets don't even have weekend hours. more

Very positive visit 7/30/2010

I was particulary impressed that they were able to take my cat in immediately and was seen as soon as we got there by Dr. Brooks. She had started limping the previous night and was given a complete examination and a painless injection. I believe them to be thorough, very empathetic and sincere. The vet assistant was as responsive as the Dr. and the front desk staff were very kind. I and my wife felt very confident with Dr. Brooks and his assesment and diagnosis. We highly recommend this clinic! more

Got all my dogs shots and some great info to boot. even helped me with my cat and i didn't bring him with me!!!! do yourself a favor and check them out more

Great Experience !!! 4/1/2009

I had just moved into the area with my family and 2 dogs. I went for a walk in my neighborhood and a loose dog came out from nowhere and began to fight with my dogs. My smaller dog, Kenny, I was sure had been hurt quite badly. I was frantic and did not know where to take him for help. I ran home with him and called my neighbor to ask where she takes her pets. She told me to go to Lakeside. I went immediately. When I got there Kenny was treated like he was the most important animal in the world. The staff was on top of it. The office was quite busy and I hadn't called ahead but I was put into a room right away and I was not only greeted by a waiting technician but within seconds the vet came into the room. Kenny was not hurt as badly I thought ( a couple of bite wounds) and all ended well. I can't say enough about how I was treated as a client either. I had a receptionist offer me coffee and comfort while Kenny was getting treated. She calmed me down and relayed how things were going in more

For your pet's health, please, pick a different vet! 1/5/2009

Dr. Brooks at Lakeside failed to diagnose my dog with mange (a communicable disease). In my opinion, it was a combination of laziness and ego on his part. Dr. Brooks even got irritated with me when I persisted in trying to get help for my dog. I ultimately diagnosed my dog by myself researching her symptoms on the internet (funny how he could not have done this!). His failure to diagnose my dog caused horrible discomfort to my dog, placed my family's health at risk, and ultimately wasted our time and money, not to mention caused great heartache. Worse yet, follow up calls to him for advice were unanswered and a follow up letter to the firm requesting a refund for substandard service was not responded to. I am sure you value your pets and your family. Please take your pets to a reputable and professional vet in the area, not to this horrible place! more

Lakeside 10/16/2008

This place is awful. It is dirty and smelly, and when I had to put my cat down(she was 17 and very, very sick) they were just nasty to me. I was so sad and the vet never said a word to me except"She's gone." Don't go there! more
