It's about time I left a review for this place, as the negative ones are so upsetting. Remember, happy clients rarely go out of their way to leave a review, and this place has many. We've been bringing our two dogs here for about 8 years, and I have never received such compassionate and educated care from any other clinic. Dr. Weikum is my go-to guy for everything. He is always comforting and reassuring, and he goes out of his way to make sure I understand what's happening. It's so nice to be able to comprehend my options and the consequences. Is it the cheapest clinic around? I don't know, probably not, but is the cheapest care what you'd really want for your babies? With all of the bad experiences we've had at chain clinics, I'm more than willing to pay a bit extra for quality care. One of my dogs, after being treated there VERY frequently in the last 2 years, still wags her tail when we arrive. Dr. Creech and Dr. Harvey are amazing as well, and Dr. Creech even offers holistic care and acupuncture. The techs are great too, and I can tell everyone there genuinely cares about the welfare of my pets. I have been allowed to hang out in back to support my sickies, I've been able to save money through frequent email communication, they've recommended other pharmacies to save us costs, and there has never been an issue with squeezing us in whenever we need anything at all. We even tried experimental treatments (nothing crazy) when the illnesses don't fit the standard. I won't take my babies anywhere else, and you shouldn't either. Dr. Weikum, you better not ever retire! Your track record with my little ones deserves a gold medal. more

Unless things have changed recently, LG vet has always been a good clinic. They are *very* expensive, but I have always gotten good and fair care and advice from them. I only go in once or twice a year and yet the receptionist always remembers my dogs names. \r \r When we had to put our last dog down at 17 years old they came to the house so she could pass away in peace in her own home. They gave us the option to cremate her body or for us to keep it and bury her where we wanted. That made me very happy since I've heard many places don't give you the option they just burn up your pet for a few hundred dollars. \r \r They are pretty gentle with the animals. I've got my dog trained to go in without a fight and the only thing she's afraid of is getting her tempature taken....other than that the dogs are about as comfortable as a dog at the vet can be. \r \r Not going to lie: the service is good but you do have to pay for it. more

So I moved to Lake Oswego in June of 3/30/2012

So I moved to Lake Oswego in June of 2011. I have yet to find a vet that I liked and I thought I found it in Lake Grove Veterinary Clinic. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!! So I have a dog that happens to have a lot of medical issues and I am a student so obviously do not make any money and use my savings to pay for my expenses. I have two dogs and one of them started to smell like ammonia, I did an internet search and it informed me that it might mean that his kidneys were going to fail. I do have a credit card that I keep for animal emergencies but do not want to use it in case I really need to. So I bring him in and I was ready to spend around $200.00 but after all the tests and the medication he was going to need the bill was almost $600.00. I relunctantly paid the bill with my card and then they told me they needed to see my dog in two weeks so I made in appointment. Because of previous missed appointments I had to pre-pay the exam. I understood as it is the doctor's time. So I prepaid the exam and went home. I called to make the appointment on a Saturday morning at 8am. Friday night I went out to a restaurant and got really bad food poisonning. So I called at 4 am after throwing up for 4 hours straight and told them I could not make it in time to make my appointment and if they could possibly re-schedule my appointment for later that day. I woke up at 8:30 am in a panic and wanted to make sure that they had gotten my appointment change. So they said that had received it and no problem we could reschedule. So after a courteous phone call with the receptionist she ""non chalantly"" (keep in mind they had not e-mailed me or told me previously about getting my card charged because i missed the appointment) tells me ""can I have your credit card number again because we need to pre-pay your appointment for this afternoon"". I was shocked, they had charged my card without previously calling me, leaving me a message or e-mailing me. I could not believe it ! I was so upset... so at first I told them to forget the appointment keep the money and to just shred my dogs records because I was not going to come back. Then a couple hours later I called them back and asked to speak to an office manager. They told me that she was not in but I could speak with her on Monday. When I called on Monday the manager was so rude to me and told me they were not going to refund the money even though I had an emergency and because of my history of missing previous appointments they could not refund my money. I told them I am student and just paid $600.00 and what is $50.00 to you when i am student and I just want another appointment and not pay the fee I already paid. I NEVER RECOMMEND THEM FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE TIGHT IN FINANCES! THEY HAVE NO COMPASSION WHO ARE NOT LIKE THE RICH PEOPLE OF LAKE OSWEGO!!! THEY ARE SO POMPOUS! And get this, today I got a letter from the clinic telling me they do not want me to be their client anymore. Even though I told them I did not want to be their client! I could not believe their audacity. They think they are so smug!!! I just could not believe it. My horse's vets (which is much more expensive than owning a dog) and they always work with me to help me out by finding ways to let me pay in multiple times and they NEVER charge my card without my written permission. They are thiefs and do not make you feel like they are looking out for the client... they just want to rack up your bill as high and find new ways to charge you even more! I am so upset with them and would not recommend them to anyone!!!! RUN in the opposite direction and find a vet that is compasonniate for both client and patient (cat/dog). more

Until today, Lake Grove Vet Clinic has 3/28/2012

Until today, Lake Grove Vet Clinic has been my primary vet clinic for my dogs. Dr Kreech was always very nice and she always gave good advice and information regarding their care. I have several 'special needs' dogs, who require extensive care and are in the vet on a very regular basis. Over the past two years, my family has spent EXACTLY $7842.64 at Lake Grove Vet Clinic. This is far more than most people spend, and expected more when I called them today to ask for simple advice regarding an injury one of my dogs had, I was told that they do not offer medical advice over the phone. I was simply asking for warning signs about the injury and when it was necessary to bring the dog in to be looked at. I was told that if I had questions, that I would have to pay for answers and bring the dog in. After calling another vet that has received $0.00 of my family's money and getting the answer to my questions, I realized what kind of vet clinic I had been dealing with for all these years. They just want your money and they don't care about anything else. It is a shame more

I've been going to Lake Grove Vet for 12/28/2011

Very Disappointed 11/2/2011

I moved to Lake Oswego about a month ago, close to the Lake Grove Vet Clinic. I immediately started buying my cat's prescription cat food there, planning to make it my cats' veterinarian. I moved back to the Portland area from Central Oregon for work. I have been out of work for over a year and I've gone through my savings. One of my 2 cats became ill and reached a point where I was advised to take him in to be seen that day. Since I am barely able to make rent right now I researched for programs that help financially strapped people with vet bills. I found one that would be available to Lake Grove Vet Clinic. I called them and told them about it (mind you I was already buying the food there) but they told me, ""thanks for telling us about that program - but we're going to reserve it for our established patients"". My cat hadn't been able to keep anything down for days, was rapidly losing weight, and they could have accessed up to $500 of funds to help my cat but refused to. Over the years, I've spent thousands of dollars caring for my pets. I feel that expense shouldn't get in the way of helping my family members if possible. I have made very good money in the past and am in no way a freeloader. I'm in a difficult place as are many people in the country - and they would have been paid! Anyway, I did find a compassionate vet in Tualatin. While they didn't have access to the funds, they were willing to take a little down and a post dated check. Thank God for people who care. Needless to say, I won't be going to Lake Grove Vet Clinic again. They told me all I need to know about the kind of people they are. I shared my experience with my friends on Facebook and they were appalled by the decision of Lake Grove Vet Clinic's owner and manager. more

Best Vet clinic in Lake Oswego 1/20/2011

I highly recommend Lake Grove. We have two dogs and seven cats. We get exceptional care every time we go there. The staff is very friendly and nice.\r \r Dr. Weikum is a wonderful vet. He is very knowledgeable and cost conscious. All of our pets like him and are comfortable when he is examining them. \r \r Daniette goes above and beyond. She is very kind, professional and personable. She could be a poster child for customer service! She is awesome.\r \r We go to the vet a lot and have always received exceptional care at Lake Grove. \r We also appreciate their prices, they are very reasonable. \r more

Highly recommended veterinary clinic! 3/9/2008

The people at Lake Grove Veterinary Clinic were so friendly and knowledgeable. I bring my cat in for everything from annual checkups to boarding. I feel bad leaving my cat when I'm out of town but I really think this place takes great care of her. They also have really nice ""cat hotels"" where she stays that includes a large cat tower and lots of other great toys. I strongly recommend this clinic. more
