I believe this is a good place to find a bra that fits you, but I have never been treated so rudely in my life by a salesperson. I don't need a 24-year-old telling me I can't wea...

A Must For The Well Endowed Woman 7/27/2007

Purchasing a bra has never been an especially pleasant shopping experience for me. At 5"1', 110 llbs and what I thought was a DDD cup -- its a challenge to find something that fits well, flatters my fame, and does not look like a relic from my grandmother's closet. My recent experience at La Petite Coquette, and in particular the assistance offered by Alexandra, really put all my past experiences to shame. Alexandra was patient, understanding, pointed out why the 32 DDD I had been wearing was not offering the proper shape, and when we looked at bras in the size she suggested, 30 FF, the selection was better than I expected and -- transformed my silouette!! The shop is lovely, relaxed, and these folks really know their stuff. I also can't say enough about Alexandra, her lovely disposition and her knowlege of what fits and why. Thanks La Petite Coquette! Pros: excellent selection in larger sizes, lovely peaceful atmosphere, expert fitters who are lively and understanding Cons: their items might be a bit more expensive them so other corsetries, but the service alone is worth it -- and they are happy to point out items that are one sale or offer a better value more

Consideration, Patience and Attention to detail 7/17/2007

Thank you Barbara & staff! I have been purchasing my bras and lingerie from Le Petite Coquette for years and it has always been a pleasure to shop there. Last week I needed alterations for a number of my bras and I was told to stop by and see Barbara. When I arrived at Le Petite and asked for Barbara I was told that at the moment she was in a meeting. I offered to come back another time but I was quickly asked to wait a few minutes and to my surprise and thanks Barbara interrupted her meeting and saw me immediately. Not only did she take the time to consider my necessary alterations she also suggested that I try on a few items which she thought would be better suited to my shape. I was thrilled with her advice, and time spent with me, thank you Barbara again! I walked out wearing a new bra - and a few more in my bag - which are perfect for me. Even though Barbara was in the midst of a meeting, I came first and my alterations were ready in just 2 days (she even offered to do them the same day!). I was so impressed with the assistance and immediate attention and will always highly recommend Le Petit to all my friends. more

Best bra shopping in Manhattan 6/21/2007

I've been shopping at Le Petite Coquette for over two years, but I used the store mainly for bathing suit and gift purchases. The other day I peeked in, eager to find the impossible, a "comfortable" strapless bra. I knew that LPC had an amazing selection but I was often deceived by their ornate window displays that they didn't carry more functional bras. Oh how wrong I was! Not only did I find exactly what I was looking for, but without even being measured, the brilliant salesgirl, Alexandra, knew my size. It turned out I had been wearing bras that were two cup sizes too small. Alexandra was so helpful and fitted me with a whole new bra wardrobe. For anyone in the market for upscale underwear, LPC is a one-stop shop. It's perfect for gifts, bathing suits and even carries some cute tops and pajamas. This elegant store is a downtown treasure, stop in to indulge yourself in an aesthetic cornucopia of all things feminine. more

Excellent service 6/20/2007

I'm a busy woman in New York City, and I hardly ever have time to do things like spend hours in a lingerie store's dressing room deploring everything I put on because nothing ever fits correctly. I have the misfortune to have mismatched breasts- one is almost a full cup size bigger than the other. When I went to La Petite Coquette, my experience was miles beyond my expectations. My sales associate, Lila, had the positive attitude, humor, intuition and expertise necessary to make bra shopping a joy rather than a chore. She asked the right questions, listened to my concerns, and, without ever putting a tape measure to me, brought me a beautiful demi bra from Aubade which fit like nothing I had ever put on before! She seemed just as happy as I was, and continued to bring me bra after bra, most of which actually worked. Those which didn't work were assessed by Lila quickly (she said "this is not the one," "this bra was not meant for you," and "i think we can do better for you.") She made me feel for the first time as if it was not my body's fault that my bras didn't fit; rather, it was the bras I had been buying which were not working on my behalf. It was a successful and moving experience all around. I left with 8 bras- including a STRAPLESS (!!!), an armload of bottoms, and a Spanx product. She suggested that I purchase a book called "The Lingerie Handbook" in order to learn more about different styles of lingerie, and how things should fit. The book was an excellent suggestion- I did buy it along with my (as she put it) "brand new, wonderful, supportive things." The book has been a great guide to cleaning out my drawers and taking stock of what my wardrobe priorities are. I'll be back to purchase more new and wonderful things very soon. Lila was also able to get me in and out, with all of my things, in about a half an hour! Perfect. I couldn't ask for more. Go there! Pros: Stellar service! Cons: None. more

Best lingerie store on Earth. 6/15/2007

If you are looking for a stress-free, panic-free, even an enjoyable bra-shopping experience, stop looking! Being a somewhat busty lady, shopping for underwear has been a daunting, depressing, demoralizing experience in the past, but it has never been anything but positive since I started going to La Petite Coquette. The sales ladies are sweet, extremely helpful, have wonderful taste, and always send me out with a bag full of goodies and boosted self-esteem. The even make my boyfriend feel comfortable while he is waiting, not awkward like some women's stores. Bear in mind that this is a high-end store, and everything is selected by the owner for her clientele, so the prices reflect that. But it is *so* worth it. Pros: They do the work for you. No thumbing through racks of bras looking for you size. Cons: NONE more

Romantic Boudoir full of intimate apparel comes to life 6/14/2007

Walk into a romance...and walk out a new woman! La Petite Coquette fits you into a bra like no other store around. The salespeople take the time to make sure it fits and fits well. You will be surprised at how wrong you are about the size of your boobies. Sure, you can find bras, but you will also be swept away with their night apparel, perfumes and fun little surprises. Get there! more

Awesome, fabulous, wonderful!!!! CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GREAT THINGS!!!! 6/8/2007

So I always dread going shopping for bras because I have the opposite problem from most of the woman on here: I wear a really small bra size (which I THOUGHT was 34A). Well, little did I know that I've been wearing the wrong size all my adult life! I'm really a 32B, which fits me perfectly!! Unfortunately, I don't know the saleslady's name that helped me, but she was AWESOME (was in late 20's and had had black curly hair).... I was always so depressed buying bras and lingerie since I always seemed to swim in them. After being helped here, I now own the 3 cutest bra and panty sets and they actually make me look like a woman! Plus, I got a babydoll that fits me like a glove. Unbelievable. Moral of the story: No matter if you're bigger or smaller, there is no one that can't be helped at La Petite Coquette!! Pros: service, selection, attention, very relaxed atmosphere more

stumbling acros this shop made my day, and possibly my year 5/31/2007

Pure serendipity, and a desire to walk on the shady side of the street on an unseasonably warm day, made me notice this tantalizing storefront. I usually find such sexy-looking shops depressing, since nothing in them ever fits me, but something made me enter anyway. I'm so glad I did! Friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable Martina soon had me esconced in a dressing room, happily trying on bra after bra, when just minutes before I'd been hot, hungry, and cranky. She swiftly assessed a situation that had caused me decades of discomfort, and that three so-called professional fitters over several years hadn't figured out - my bra was three sizes too big in the band, and four sizes too small in the cup! She explained the hows and whys of fit. She showed me in a professional and comfortable way what she meant, removing all embarrassment, and making me proud of my shape again. In fact, she let me actually see my shape and my waist again, with everything back where it's supposed to be once the proper support was in place. Which shaved off several years and pounds instantly! Even in my unusual size, the shop carried a delightful selectoin of colors and styles that made me feel feminine and happy. The visit was worth every minute and every penny! I highly recommend La Petite Coquette and Martina. Pros: extremely professional, helpful, pleasant service, and fantastic range of sizes Cons: pricey by my standards, but worth it to find the perfect fit for the first time ever more

best best best 5/31/2007

My grilfriend and I had the best experience at La Petite. Not only were we fitted by Martina (the most adorable, knowledgable, capable, and comforting fitter ever!) we were warmly welcomed and assured that aside from our bra sizes having to go up in order get a better fit we aren't the only ones out there who need special attention when it comes to the "intimate" needs of us gals. THANK YOU MARTINA! THANK YOU LA PETITE COQUETTE! more

Fabulous lingerie, knowledgeable staff 5/25/2007

I am a curvy woman, so finding a bra that is pretty, does the job it's supposed to do and is comfortable is a challenge. Plus, like most women I am not quite sure of my size. Barbara figured out that I had actually been wearing a bra that was one size too large in the band, which is why it wasn't doing the job. She got me the right size and Iit was such a transformation! I recommend this store highly for women who are a D cup or larger. Pros: Very girly decor - just what you'd expect from a store named "The Little Flirt." Cons: Wish there were more locations around town! more

The most important fashion item I have ever bought 5/23/2007

I was walking by this gem of a lingerie store and decided to pop in for a robe. I was drawn to the bra board because it carried a brand I had been looking for. I was approached by a pleasant sales person who asked if I needed assistance - and did I ever! Pointing to the minimizing bra (some people believe these are assets, I refer to mine as liabilities), I thought it was time to get a new one. She asked me what size I wore - sadly and embarrasingly I told her I had no idea. So she led me to the back, took one look at me and brought a bra for me to try on - she was right on with the size too! At that point Martina went from pleasant sales person to a life altering bra saint! My so-called minimizing bra, which I proudly wore for 6 years and counting, was doing just the opposite! My tissue was hanging our the sides and my breasts and stomach co-agulated somewhere in the middle of my body - I had simply lost my figure. I tried on a variety of styles for every purpose - from t-shirts to lacy numbers for those peekabo shirts and Martina made me feel like I was in the privacy and comfort of my own bedroom. I ended up replacing every minimizing bra in my wardrobe and even trashed the one I walked in wearing right in the store for good measure. I now have breasts that look smaller then they ever did before and I found my waist again! I can't thank you enough Martina - don't be too surprised if my husband shows up to shake your hand. Cons: There aren't any! more

Best bra shopping experience of my life! 5/21/2007

Being a large breasted woman always made it impossible to find a good bra until I came across this store. I was visiting a friend in the city and we decided it would be fun to get measured. I went first and was helped by Catherine. She took one look at me (fully dressed) and said I was wearing the wrong size. She showed me to a dressing room and handed me a bra that fit perfectly! I was way off on my size. I thought I was a 40 DD, but it turns out I'm really a 38H. She came back with several more bras and if they didn't fit quite right she showed my why & pointed out things you should always look for in a good bra. Wearing the right bra, my breasts and waist look alot smaller. Catherine wasn't at all pushy and was also very honest. She admitted that they don't have the largest variety for my size, but did refer me to another store to try. Even with the limited variety I still walked out with 4 new bras that all look amazing on me. The only downside to the store is that it is a little pricey. The way I see it, I'm paying for good quality, excellent fit & amazing service! Pros: Amazing service Cons: a little pricey more

Walked out a New Woman! 4/29/2007

I HATE BRA-SHOPPING! I spent my adolescence hiding under oversized clothing. I wore any size bra my Mom bought me to get her to leave me alone about my chest. She never knew my real size because I wouldn?t let her near me? so my Grandmother finally took me for my first professional bra-fitting because I inherited her ample bosom. Thanks Grandma! I walked out of that old-fashioned shop crying in an atrocious harness (38 DDD) that made me feel just UGLY. (We had to make a reservation, so embarrassing.) I?ve been wearing similar bras like that for years, until now. Yesterday, my husband and I were enjoying the street fair in front of La Petite Coquette and I remembered one of my friends told me about her experience there. I called her on my cell and she told me to ask for Barbara, the manager. I walked in and was greeted by the lovely Barbara herself. Her manner immediately put me at ease. She took me to a dressing room and took one look at me and said I was wearing the wrong size and style for my body type and handed me 2 bras (36FF & 36G) to try on. I was shocked to see myself in the mirror looking like I don?t really need that breast reduction I constantly dream about. She explained the importance of wearing my proper size (which can be different according to brand), the affect on my posture, my self-esteem and how my clothing will look. (I saw the Oprah segment about bra potential, but I guess you just have to experience it to believe it.) My husband gave a thumb?s up when he saw me walk out of the dressing room. I am a new woman. Thank you so much, Barbara. Pros: Barbara Cons: Not enough items, other than bras, in my size. more

Beautiful Store, Extremely Knowledgable and Lovely Saleswoman. 4/10/2007

I have lived in the village for years and every time I walked by La Petite Coquette I drooled at all the beautiful lingerie in the window, so saying that the have the most amazing lingerie is silly, you can look in the window yourself. :~) A few years ago, my now husband went in there with me to just look around and I was gushing over the most beautiful corset I had ever seen in my life! But it was a bit expensive so I just admired it and left. A little while later my husband surprised me with that corset as a birthday gift! I still think it is the most beautiful corset I have ever seen but unfortunately I could no longer wear it because I got breast implants a couple of years ago and it no longer fit. But I kept thinking there must be some way it can be altered to fit. I took it to my tailor and they said they couldn't do it the way I described. This past Christmas my husband gave me a gift certificate for LPC and when he did so he explained to them the "corset problem". They told him that I should bring in the corset and speak to Barbara because "if anyone can fix it Barbara can." Well, I just came from LPC, Barbara is the loviest and most knowledgable salesperson I have ever met. She understood immediately the way I was hoping to alter the corset, played with it a bit and said, "yes, I should be able to do this." I have no doubt that she is going to do a great job. She then helped me pick out new bras, I had been wearing the wrong size, explained to me exactly why it was wrong and gave me everyday plain t-shirt bras to replace the ones I have been wearing and patiently helped me pick out a beautiful bra and panty set to satisfy the girly super-pretty lingerie desire but one that is still supportive and fits perfectly. I cannot say enough nice things about Barbara. And the lingerie, well that speaks for itself! Pros: beautiful store, kind and knowlegable salesperson more

Best Place to Bring the S-xy Back 4/5/2007

I had a really wonderful experience that was devoid of any of the awkwardness or stress that sometimes goes along with shopping for lingerie. The salesperson, Barbara, was attentive without being pushy and showed me a lot of different options. She struck just the right balance between giving me enough space to look around on my own and presenting me with things I might have missed or might not have thought to try. I went into the shop to buy something for a weekend away with my boyfriend and ended up with an exquisite bra and panty set that didn't stay on for long. I'm always a little weary about buying bras, as I'm on the small side (34A), but Barbara found something for me that was amazingly beautiful, flattering and comfortable. No painful underwires trying to force my chest into a semblance of clevage... just a pretty, s-xy, well-made bra. I'm addicted to this place now. Pros: Knowledgeable salespeople, Selection, Ambience Cons: A lot of things were out of stock in my size more

Go here and make your ladies high and happy! 4/3/2007

Wow. It's rare, I think, to feel elated after bra shopping, but there it is. Today was my first excursion to La Petite Coquette; it was incredible. For the first time in my life, my rather large lovelies are a) well supported, b) well covered, c) COMFORTABLY supported and covered and d) looking really, really good. I mean, really good. I went in and immediately a woman named Emily came to my side to assist me. She did not push me to buy things; she simply found me literally everything I needed, and more. She discovered, for example, that I've been wearing a 38D when I'm actually a 36DD. You'd be shocked how comfortable a bra can be when it's the right size. She also showed me that there ARE gorgeous bras for women with larger breasts like mine. I told a woman in the store that all the hot, lacy bras for bigger sized-breasts have been hiding in their store! So to retort, I now own a waaaaay hot bra and I'm a size 36DD... that's practically a miracle. My boyfriend is probably going to pass out. In the good way. I was a little apprehensive upon entering, since everything looked so fancy schmancy and I'm a poor indebted graduate student. However, they have a 10% discount if you show them a valid student I.D. Well, that's awesome. Also, when I told Emily that I was on a pretty strict budget, she immediately started bringing me bras that were in a lower price range. And they were still great quality, and pretty. How is this possible? Why didn't anybody tell me about this place before?! I'll tell you, strangers who may be reading, I am never going anywhere else for a bra. This is the place. I'm wearing one of the bras now, and I keep moving around, and my breasts keep staying put! This is great. Now I can stop fidgeting with my bra inappropriately in public. No more quadraboob! I'm going to go try on shirts now, just to see how much better (and thinner) I look in them now that my breasts are up where they are supposed to be. Pros: Personal assistance, almost impossibly great selection Cons: My apartment isn't closer to this store, I can't live in the store more

Thank you! 3/14/2007

After looking in Barneys, Bergdorf, and all the other big name stores, trying to find something for my wife to wear for our beach wedding, we found ourselves in this neighborhood gem. The owner (Rebecca) helped us pick out something perfect. I have been back a handful of times since then, and always walked out with at least one item. The salespeople are very professional - they act like a friend / trusted advisor when I shop. I haven't looked anywhere else for a special gift for my wife since that first day - and I don't think I ever will. -CJ Pros: Amazing stuff, excellent help Cons: none more

Knowledgeable staff and quality merchandise in friendly shopping atmosphere. 3/2/2007

After a serendipitous encounter with owner Rebecca Apsan, I visited La Petite Coquette with my cousin last week. Rebecca instructed me to ask for Barbara, who was friendly, knowledgeable and patient. A bra that fits - it is a wondrous thing! (Actually I found 3!) Barbara suggested a resource on the lower East Side for my cousin when she did not have anything suitable for her. I highly recommend this shop for the expertise of the staff and quality of merchandise available. Pros: Staff, merchandise Cons: None more

Very user friendly towards men shopping for ladies 2/18/2007

I must have looked lost, but I was expertly guided by shop's owner Rebecca to find a great style and fit for my wife. While the shop was very busy just two days before Valentines, she took the time to learn about my wife's build and tastes and direct me toward a number of excellent options. She understands the visual nature of men, and has devised a "fruit scale" ranging from lemons to mellons to help describe a lady's figure. My wife was thrilled with my choice and really a bit surprised that I was able to make such a nice selection. Thank you, Rebecca, for taking the awkwardness out of shopping for lingerie! more

You'll need to get buzzed in to this small, extraordinarily frilly store. The owner rules the store like a madam and dispenses expert advice: "I like you in red. Just do something about the top."
