Intimate authentic Italian 1/5/2010

Authentic Italian cooking by people who love what they do! We didn't have reservations (please call ahead, it can often times get very busy), so we waited at the top of the stairs for seating. While waiting, we leafed through some photo albums that documented the travels of the restaurant owner and head chef. Most of the photos showed them enjoying food, wine and exploring the countryside to find the style of cooking they would like to bring home to Brookline. You could feel the love of their craft. And it shows in the food. You simply can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Ask your server for their specials. These tend to be very seasonal. Order a cocktail as well, their bartender has excellent taste when pairing cocktails to your order, so ask your server for suggestions that can be based on your order. Pros: Amazing Italian with great cocktails! Cons: Parking can be difficult around rushour more

Awesome Bar for dinner and cocktails 7/16/2009

Bernie the friendly Irish bartender started us off with one of the best summer cocktails I have had in a while. It took my love of all things lemon to new heights - it is called a Limone - it's a very chilly lemon martini in sugar rimmed glass - YUM. She then guided into some tapas that you could become addicted to - Fried Rissotto, Meatballs, and fried olives. We then tasted wine to find the perfect glass for our meal as she enlightened on each ones unique qualities. We devoured our wood grilled steak and mushroom lasgna with our glasses of perfectly blended MOMA. Bernie Rocks! Pros: Best Bartender more

Prime Primi e Secondi 3/17/2009

Delicious Italian wine list un poco caro ma bene. Pasta bella. Carne buono. Friendly bar. Second floor less hectic. Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

inconsistent, good qlty 7/29/2006

La morra is northern italian throughout and their quality is high but consistency is lacking. The table butter is a tasty ricotta cheese mixture, but the salad appetizers are a mixed bag. The fixed price menu was decent, but over all un impressive. Pros: good most nights Cons: inconsistent more

Best in Boston 1/17/2006

There isn't anything I don't like about this place. Neighborhood feel with great energy. Food is perfect. Pros: atmosphere, food, drink more

A Great Spot 1/17/2006

The food has improved and is now very good. It is an interesting menu - tapas like offerings, which were flavorful- but don't eat too much, leave room for the pastas, which are nice and the robust meat dishes -the hen is my favorite. It also has a good wine list. I would go back despite not being in town. Upstairs is the place to sit, especially by the window. If you have a wait, limited room to do so - especially if the bar is full. Pros: food more

Best Italian in the Boston Area 11/1/2005

La Morra is fabulous. The ambience is perfect, it's cute and quaint. The food is authentic and delicious, and the service is tops. It's a perfect place for a date or for a comfortable dinner. The brunch is also excellent. If you want authentic (I am Italian and a food-lover), then go to La Morra. Pros: cozy and cute, delicious food, friendly servers Cons: a little pricey more

great place! 8/16/2005

Delicious food, great service and fine wine. What else can you ask for? It's conveniently located near Brookline Village and on root 9. Did I mention that food is incredible? Pros: food, wine, service more

Nice casual establishment with a creative menu 7/10/2005

First time at La Morra and I enjoyed the experience. Lots of items on the menu and a very affordable wine list--which is rare these days. Thought the starters were good but small--fried risotto and meatball were tasty. I would recommed the herb crusted veal and the pasta dishes were very good--good size portion. Dessert wasn't bad, not great and I thought the waiter guessed when we asked him for a wine recommendation. Overall, very comfortbale and relaxed atmosphere. $8 for valet compared to $14 in the city. Pros: Atmosphere, wine list, menu Cons: service more

disappointing 6/24/2004

the food was lackluster- the descriptions on the menu did not match what was presented in front of me. I ordered the cod/salt and it was a puree and slightly flavorless. The pasta dishes were interesting, but surprisingly plain and the spices were not well balanced. The whole experience was rather disappointing. more

Excellent Food! 2/23/2004

While the prices are a bit high the food is outstanding! Every dish was presented well, and tasted better than it looked. Our waiter wasn't very knowledgable about the items, but over all fantastic! If it didn't look bad we would have licked our plates. Pros: Homemade Pasta, Quiet, Service Cons: , Parking more

Great New Restaurant 12/16/2003

Fajitas used to be one of our favortie restaurants and we had not been in a while. To our surprise, on our most recent visit it was no longer there. The new decor was awesome and cozy and we were hungry so we decided to stay. We can't say enough good things about our experience - the food was out of this world and the service was the perfect combo of professional and friendly - YOU HAVE GOT TO GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY Pros: GREAT FOOD, AMBIANCE, SERVICE more
