Best French in Albuquerque 1/21/2010

I've eaten brunch and dinner here many times over the years and I am never disappointed. I enjoy the tomato tort for brunch, and had a wonderful mussel dish there for dinner recently. more

A jewel in old town. Consistently excellent! 4/21/2009

We have been eating here for years because of the excellent food, cozy relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, and reasonable prices. The dinner specials are always wonderful, as are the crepes. The owner and chef makes the rounds of the tables nightly, and treats both customers and staff like family. The bread is excellent, made fresh twice a day, crusty and fragrant. They now have a handsome young Certified Sommeleir to give advice on pairing a wine with your meal. In 30 years of eating there I have never been disappointed! Pros: Wonderful food, great wines, relaxed and friendly staff more

Worst Crepes Anywhere 4/17/2008

This is a lovely little restaurant; the atmosphere is comfortable and homey, with very few tables. That's where the charm ends. We were there (with reservations) on a Saturday night, and I found it a bit *too* snug for comfort. We were right by the register, and unfortunately our server and other employees chose to gossip (loudly) in French about each other and the customers, obviously believing that no New Mexican would be able to understand them (I know WAY more than I'd ever want to about you, lady!). I hate to be rushed through a meal, but this took THREE HOURS. The cheese plate appetizer (don't offer it if you can't afford to!) was the best, if least satisfying, thing we had--lovely, minuscule bits, dwarfed by the salad plate on which they were presented. The wine arrived at the table already poured--and yes, horror of restaurant horrors, it obviously had been WATERED. The crepes were soggy, salty, and greasy (is there a microwave back there?); and sorry, no, I don't want to hear how hard your night is going as a running excuse for unremittingly execrable service. After finally receiving our (incorrect) check, we overpaid just to get out of there. Horrible!!! more

Very enjoyable dining experience 3/19/2008

We recently moved to ABQ from Upstate NY. I have traveled extensively and dined in some of the finest restaurants in major US cities for work, so have some appreciation for fine dining. We found the atmosphere to be enjoyable although the tables are a little close. The service was top notch and the waiter was passionate and knowledgeable about the limited wine selection. We were not rushed. Our meals were well prepared, served and presented. The food itself was quite good with decently sized portions. We shared a dessert, but only because everything else was so good. I would rate the restaurant about a 23-24. We would recommend to friends and family and intend to return. Certainly in the top 5 restaurants we have found in ABQ. Pros: Service was top knotch Cons: parking more

Best French food I have had in I long time! 3/4/2007

La Crepe Michel is the greatest!\r I happen to love French Food and living in Oregon by the coast we have none so I found the restaurant amazing! Probley one of the French Restaurants I have eaten in! The service was great and I chose one of the daily specials which was chicken wraped in a pastry shell and stuffed with Brie, Spinage and wine! The food was really good and the service was great! I am relocating to Albuquireque in September and I am looking forward to many more meals there! Pros: Food, Serice Cons: Maybe alittle more room more

Perhaps the best French in Albuquerque 11/11/2005

This is a cozy little French restaurant with great filet mignon, pate and cheese platter, good wine, and fresh fish. However, improvements can be made. The bread is awful, the snails lack sufficient garlic and pesto, and the crepes are hard with somewhat bland filling. Pros: dinner entrees, service, wine Cons: bread, dessert more

French-Belgian mix a la lettre 11/2/2005

Awesome restaurant! Feels like home! Experienced staff, friendly ambiance, worth a try! Pros: wine selection more

A treasure I'd rather guard 4/6/2005

Unassuming, friendly & as a retiree I'd hate for them to realize they're very reasonably priced. Even more, I'd hate it becoming so crowded I couldn't get in. You only have to have a bit of culinary maturity, not Francophile aspirations to appreciate. Touristy location but mostly locals for dinner. A real French bistro, like in a small European village - I have some experience with that. In all honesty, can only wish them all the best. more

Fantastique! 7/14/2003

La Crepe Michel is absolutely one of the best restaurants in town. The food is delicious and straightforward french....unpretentious, always perfect. The service has no competition whatsoever! How many places do you go to where they remember you from a year prior and also remember what wine you ordered (and this has happened on multiple occasions)!!! The location is very home-y and comfortable. Pros: Food taste & Quality, Service more

in appreciation 2/28/2003

A tiny front room adjacent to the kitchen gives great and pleasant intimacy. Service is of European standard - i.e. stay as long as you like and enjoy. The quality of the short daily selection is indeed conducive to lingering, sipping wine (from a very reasonable short wine list) and paying proper attention to the food and your company. The boss-lady will come out if she has time (she cooks) and chat with customers. Definitely worth spending a bit more and making a feast of your visit to this place. As a Belgian(they are crazy about food remember Hercule Poirot ?) I warmly recommend it. Pros: value for money, excellent service, great food Cons: small, better book, could become crowded more
