I recently joined this gym, and 5/30/2012

I recently joined this gym, and apparently it's under new ownership. As for myself, I have had a wonderful experience here. A whole bunch of new renovations are coming soon, supposedly...but they did just get in all new heavy bags. The atmosphere is great, the people are super friendly & the classes are intense. You will sweat and you will lose weight & improve your body in just weeks. I love this gym, & it's my #1 choice. more

Slow on cancellation and on membership hold 8/26/2011

I signed my teenage son up for boxing as it seemed to be a good esteem building activity and while he enjoyed the gym, with summer and his school/summer travel schedule, we decided to put his membership on hold. We have been charged every month since and it has been six months. I have sent numerous emails with no response. The phone is rarely answered. And the only way to cancel membership is to reach the manager who is never there when we call. My neighbor had the same experience, however, as she paid by credit card, she simply called the credit card company and got her money back. I am going to see if bank will do the same with debit card, however, I suspect I am out of luck. Too bad as I my son is now ready to go back and there is no way I am going to to let him! I feel ripped off! more

Slow on cancellation 1/19/2011

I paid for a membership for my daughter last year. She has a busier schedule now and could not go to the gym. I tried cancelling it last month and was told I needed to wait til the 29th before I can cancel. Since I forgot the date, I got charged for another month. Now, I'm trying to call them and cancel ahead of time and was told the ""manager"" is the person I need to talk to Easier said than done since 90% of the time that I call them, nobody answers the phone!. My daughter went there in person and tried to cancel it as well and was told she has to wait til the 29th to do this. It didn't take more than 20 minutes to sign up with them and it has been over a month and I still could not cancel it. They need to seriously work on their customer service. I feel I just got ripped off!! more

Motivating Instructors 1/11/2011

The staff here is great. All the instructors are excellent and they motivate everyone to work really hard. I have already lost a few pounds and getting stronger everyday. They must be doing great because the classes are just getting packed!\r \r more

Great Gym 1/10/2011

This isn't your typical gym, it's a smaller more one on one based even though it's primarily group classes. All the instructors are very knowledgable and willing to help you however they can. It's undeniable that no matter whether you want to seriously get into a martial art or sport or you just want to lose weight cardio is key. You don't even need to go to the classes if you'd rather work by yourself, the instructors will still be there to help motivate and push you. I've only been there a short time but I encourage anyone who's thinking about it, to stop in for a free class and try it out. more

Like Having My Own Personal Trainer An Hour A Day 12/13/2010

I have been training at LA Boxing for 8 months, 3 times a week. The work outs are designed for the individual, in a class setting, the trainers are there for you 100%.\r I have lost no less than 20 pounds and probaly 3 inches off my waist.Thats with very little dieting.\r Killer self defense and boxing, something a 50 year old can use, like myself. more

Great workout 8/19/2009

The workout at any of the LA Boxing classes is amazing - you will feel it the next day. The staff is encouraging - from the first day through the last minutes of the workout. They make you feel like you can do it - helping you to reach your indiviualized goals - even as a beginner. Pros: workout and encouraging staff more

Haven't been a member for too long but... 8/10/2009

Although the classes have been very good and the instructors seem fairly competent the use of high pressure sales techniques for pushing both gear and personal training is a little off putting. However, having ""fight nights"" does encourage a little extra effort both personally and financially. I like the gym... the month to month contract isn't strictly a bad deal, the fight nights are enticing, the trainers are good. However, hounding folks for personal training time and purchasing gear is off-putting. Overall its been an ok experience. I'm still curious to see how it pans out. Pros: Classes are very intense Cons: The ""trainers"" are a little too high pressure with the sales more

DO NOT JOIN THIS CLUB!! I BEG YOU!! 2/7/2009

Do not join this club. Here is why..\r \r 1) Long term contracts that you can't get out of. (Any real gym won't have a contract) If a gym puts you in a contract it means they don't feel strongly enough about there program. They have to lock you in to keep your money. You should just become a long term member because you like the club not because your in a contract.\r 2) Bad classes with loud horrible music that never changes.\r 3) You could be a member for 10 years or 10 days and you will learn the same thing over and over and over. You will neve be shown new things. It's fun for a few weeks but it gets real boring.\r 4) Way too much money for what you get. If you want to learn more and progress you will have to pay for personal sessions. \r 5) 80% of your results comes from nutrition. They offer no nutritional counseling and the instructors know nothing about nutrition.\r 6) If you do too much cardio you WILL burn muscle. You can't take an hor long class like that woithout burning muscle unless you have the proper nutrition in your body before you take the class but like I said they cant help with nutrition.\r 7) Anyone can be an instructor even though they say you have to be a pro fighter. Hahaha most of there instructors used to be members.\r \r \r LA BOXING IS DESIGNED TO PAINT A GREAT PICTURE, LOCK YOU INTO A CONTRACT AND HOPE YOU NEVER COME. LOOK AT THIS WAY, THEY ONLY HAVE SO MANY BAGS FOR THE CLASSES, WHAT HAPPENS IF PEOPLE ALL REALLY GO. OF COURSE THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO COME! THEY JUST WANT THE CONTRACT!\r \r IF THEY SAY YOU HAVE 30 DAYS TO CANCEL ITS A LIE. THEY WILL NOT LET YOU UNLESS YOU HAVE TAKEN AT LEAST 20 CLASSES IN THE FIRST MONTH!! more
