excellent coffee, the best in the neighborhood! 8/1/2011

this place makes me look forward to my weekend coffee meeting I have. The coffee is amazing and, even though i dont like to capture my coffee on camera, i take pics of the latte ART every single time i go there. im not a coffee snob but this place makes me wanna be one. Even though its a bit pricey, its worth it and i love the coffee here!! A true coffee aficianado;s dream come true! more

Weekend Brunch with Friends 4/15/2011

One of my favorite places for breakfast with friends. I had Wieser Farms Fingerling Potatoes, Bacon Mushroom / Wild mushrooms, scrambled eggs, and my favorite, Vanilla Latte. Small portions but I was full, so not complaining. Everything was delicious. Parking is in very short demand so be prepared to drive a bit to find a spot. They don't rush you which is great. more

Why so RUDE? 9/29/2010

6:50 AM La mill not open. OK. surprised. (just seems a little LATE for a coffee place, but then, trendy folks arise a litttle later) I'll wait 'til 7. 7:05 -- door opens I mention that it is 7:05. no response. I order a lb of whole bean espresso, from the man at the register and mention that it is 7:05. ""well, our register says 7"" I say, lightly, well gee, Intelligentsia opens at 6! ""Well, you go there then!"" ARE YOU JOKING??? lamill, you: 1) OPEN VERY LATE FOR A COFFEE JOINT. 2) OPEN EVEN LATER EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN SEE US OUTSIDE AT 7 3) ARGUE OVER THE TIME with the customer 4) INVITE A CUSTOMER TO GO TO THE COMPETITION. this is the kind of arrogance that damages business. I must assume that this attitude comes from management. I have never been treated rudely at intelligentsia or any other coffee place -- ever. Dave SilverLake more

this is an exceptional cup of coffee 5/15/2010

LA Mill is such a treat. It's beautifully designed, incredibly comfortable and the menu is outstanding. I had an individual brewed glass of ice coffee. It looked like a science project at our table but was a bizarre (genius!!) device to make the best ice coffee I have ever had. It was clean, crisp, flavorful...nothing bitter or sour. We also ate lunch...the caesar salad was delicious and the tomatoes and burrata delightful. Everything I've ever had was tasty. I highly suggest a visit. Pros: amazing menu selection...coffee, tea, food. parking, decor. Cons: i can't think of any! well, the cost...it's a bit steep more

WARNING!!!! HIT & RUN INCIDENT 10/18/2009

after having over priced coffee and over priced desserts at lamill i found out that my car which was parked in the rear parking lot of the premises was hit and the person responsible for the damage to my car had left without a note.  i noticed 2 survaillance cameras and told the manager/owner about the incident but she was very INDIFFERENT and could care less about what had happened to one of her customers and simply left on her black cayenne.  i know this incident was out of her control but her lack of concern and lack of sympathy really upset me and my friends.I WILL NO LONGER PATRONIZE LAMILL COFFEE BOUTIQUE AND WILL SHARE THIS INSULTING EXPERIENCE WITH ALL OF MY FRIENDS!!! Cons: WARNING!!!! HIT & RUN INCIDENT more

Beautiful but expensive 5/12/2009

I must say that I recently visited this boutique and really like it. However the prices are really insulting. I end up paying $24 for a Risotto that did not even come with bread or salad. That is really ridiculous, specially considering that it is not a high restaurant but just a cafeteria after all. I hope that you can be more conscious of our times and adjust your prices to be more sensitive of the economic reality.A place can be very beautiful but if the prices are unrealistic then the beauty becomes superficial. It takes away a lot of points. Good luck!!! more

Not so great coffee... 1/6/2009

I think this place is great the ambience is wonderful but the price for a cup of coffee is so expensive. I was there yesterday and this girl that assist me is so rude. the coffee is so bitter but they didn't do anything to make it better. That would be the last time I would visit that place and would not recommend that place to anyone. more

best coffee, best food, and celebs 7/15/2008

This place has amazing food with the same purveyors as Michelin starred restaurant, Providence... the crab scramble amazing... the ABLT and the Sophia Panini to die for... and i could eat 10 of the Passionfruit Gelee desserts! \r Everything created by hand, (even the Valhrona ganache is homemade), and they are doing creative drinks that no one in the coffee industry is doing. \r Every time I go, there are celebrities... Addictive coffee, but VERY EXPENSIVE HABIT TO MAINTAIN 6/24/2008

I fell inlove with LAMILL's coffee at first sip. Not just the coffee, but the entire dining experience. The cafe/boutique is beautifully decorated, the staff is friendly and very well trained and their $9 miniature-size sweet potato pie dessert is just enough to tease your palet, (never enough to please it, never mind sharing!), nevertheless delicious. When LAMILL first opened, I made it a point to meet people there, whether for business or personal, and took all my friends and family there with the excuse of trying another of their specialty coffee. Their tiramisu expresso is delicious, but again, EVERYTHING IS TOO PRICEY! Which made me a bit upset because after becoming a regular and noticing how much I was spending on coffee and snacks alone (I wouldn't call ANY of their meals anything else), I realized I could make my money go further by eating across the street at Michelangelo's and save the coffee experience for coffee and nothing else. I haven't been back in 2 months because I fear becoming a regular again and then, getting upset with myself for overspending. Now, if you can enjoy just one coffee experience alone and perhaps, an expensive snack or bite-size dessert for the price of a dinner, I find no better place to splurge than here. Pros: Exquisite coffees, limited parking, shops adjacent Cons: EXPENSIVE!!! more

for coffee lovers 4/30/2008

those of you who are into coffee will love this place. they even have table service where coffee can be brewed in front of you. that being said, i was here for the food. i tried the following: 1. caesar salad - this was fine. the lettuce was crisp and not drenched in dressing. it is really hard to mess up this salad. 2. fried oyster - this was too bread-y. 3. ABLT (asian blt) - instead of regular bacon, they use pork belly. instead of lettuce, they use arugula. it is definitely different, a lot fancier. this new twist on a classic is tasty and good (but not great). more
