Awesome Restaurant 12/5/2011

My sister was coming to visit and she is a vegetarian and I am not. This was the perfect restaurant for both of us with the added plus of no msg and organic. It was awesome! Every selection on the menu could have tofu substituted for the meat and some options were vegan. And, to my surprise, it was in Tucker only a couple of miles from my home. I go to the Home Depot right next door all the time and never noticed that little shopping center. The service was sooo good too. Which makes for an even better time because the people there were so nice. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant if you like Thai. I will definitely be going back as often as I can. more

best thai restaurant for vegetarians and carnivores! 2/11/2011

I have to think that the caustic review by ""tangoland"" recommending another thai restaurant is a complete fake. L'thai is a winner. We found l'thai by its great reviews online. otherwise, you could miss it completely--its in a sketchy looking strip mall. inside, its as pretty as can be with a waterfall, and full size tree with lights. It would be a nice place to take a date. The waitstaff does not speak english that well but they are perfectly nice. the manager is great--ask for him if you have special food needs or just a great organic beer recommendation. the staff remember you quickly, and suggest things you might like from other things you liked before. from time to time, the service is slow, but always kind. Now the food--first of all, the best, best rice ever. i know, who cares about rice--but this is what brown rice is supposed to taste like. You can eat it by itself, it is that good. The curries are flavorful. some of the plain rice and noodle dishes in the back of the menu are kind of basic, so stick to the first four pages. our favorite appetizers are the fried spring rolls (like no other spring roll you have had) and the basil rolls. You can smell the basil coming to the table, they are that fresh. try the lobster special and green mango salad for something a bit unusual. the soup is also good. i usually get tofu, my husband gets chicken, and we both love our dishes. some of the servings are really big, some are small, it depends on the meal, but the prices are so reasonable for a nice restaurant, especially for really fresh organic food, i can't believe anyone would complain. L'Thai is very unique, especially for OTP. Highly recommend it! more

Regular Customer WILL NOT Return!! 12/2/2010

I have eaten at this place about 10 times and have always ordered the same thing. I have known that the servers are not very friendly but the food tastes good and its organic. As I said I order the same thing every time a Tofu dish but they brought me Chicken by mistake. When I asked for what I had ordered they brought it within 3 mins which was great BUT the portion was VERY small. I pointed this out to the server and she insisted that the Tofu dish is much smaller that the dish with meat. I then explained that I order this dish every time and it is always a 'meal' size portion BUT she became RUDE and was unwilling to offer to make it right. For a dish that costs $12 you would expect to have enough to fill the entire plate and it including the rice cover 1/4 of my plate after putting what little was brought. The server makes the mistake then penalizes the amount of food and becomes indignant toward me when I complained to the other server when asked was I happy. The other server said they cannot do anything to fix the problem and to email the owner. I have sent the owner an email but I doubt I will hear back from them. Additionally, the pictures they provide here are NOT what you get in presentation! If you order curry dishes don't expect any veggies you will not get any. GOTO Chiangmai Thai Cuisine which is just up the street if you want Great service and Great Thai food EVERY TIME!! I just wish they were Organic with Brown Rice as they are MUCH BETTER IN SERVICE AND THE PORTIONS! more

L'thai! 10/13/2010

Just came back from a delicious dinner. This was my first time there. I must say I have been trying to find curry this good since my favorite restaurant in Athens closed down years ago. I am sure I will be back again and again. more

I love this restaurant. Every time I go, I'm delighted. I teach a Thai Massage workshop at our new yoga studio in Tucker, and I'll be bringing my students for lunch. more

The best food outside of Thailand 7/29/2010

Tucked away kinda between Tucker & Lilburn is this wonderful lil gem of a place that you absolutely MUST check out! You can get traditional spicy or varying grades of spice-level. There is NEVER too much seasoning or spice to overshadow the food. I go here even when the budget is tight - I mean this place is the bomb! Pros: Awesome Food, Great Prices, Friendly Staff, Wonderful Ambien Cons: Location more

Love this place! 3/1/2010

I've never written a review before, but I read the reviews prior to coming to this place and wanted to throw my two cents in as well. This place was great! We went in around 2:30 on Saturday, and of course at that time they weren't very busy. The place had a nice atmosphere, was clean, and decorated nicely. My boyfriend mentioned that he wished they had a small TV by the bar so he could check the scores of the games, but that was our only minor complaint. Our order was taken as soon as we were ready, and we ordered a bottle of wine as well. We were suprised by the wine service, it was very formal and the waitress did a great job at it. Our food arrived pretty quickly, and was exactly as we had ordered it. I had the Pineapple Curry Fried Rice (Vegetable) and it was seriously amazing - so good that my boyfriend and I got another order to-go to split for dinner. I'm still thinking about it two days later. One additional note, I thought it was great that when we ordered the second order to-go, the waiter noticed that we ordered the vegetable kind, and asked if eggs were ok just to make sure we weren't vegan. As a vegetarian, that kind of stuff impresses me. My boyfriend got the Green Curry with scallops and enjoyed it, although he said it was a bit on the spicy side, which I guess is to each person's individual taste. As far as the price goes, if you compare to other Asain and Thai places around the area it is a bit more expensive, but you really get what you pay for since all the food is really well prepared and it is organic, which is important to some people (like me). And if this type quality place was in Buckhead the price would be much much lower than comparable restaurants. The only small negative was that it took a while to get the check, but once we asked for it we got it pretty quickly. I'm really excited my boyfriend lives only a few minutes from this place, we have agreed it is now our regular place for the weekends. Can't wait to have that fried rice again and try other things on the menu!!! Pros: Nice atmosphere, great food, vegetarian- and vegan-friendly Cons: Good service, but a little slow getting the check more

Great Food! 10/14/2009

I always try to eat here every time I get a chance. I came here last tuesday. Even though the food was great, but the service was slow. They only have one server working that day. She was running around trying to serve other tables, therefore there was a delay to get service at our table. I'm guessing economy is bad, that's why they cut employees off and only have one server work that day? But she did an ecstatic job when we finally got our food order and service was on a roll. I hope the next time we come again, service will be faster because that was unusual. Pros: food, service, place Cons: need more employees in the front more

One of the best Thai places in Atlanta 10/11/2009

Whenever I have to do some work in Tucker, this is the place I go for lunch. The Prik Khing is amazing and the curries are all very good as well. The prices for lunch are great and service is good as well. The only thing odd about the place is the location, in a small strip mall on Lawrenceville Hwy. I think they'd get more business if they were located somewhere inside the perimeter, not in the mostly industrial area where they are located. Pros: Very good food, low prices Cons: Location seems a bit odd for a place with food this good more

Wonderful Experience 10/10/2009

I came for lunch today and I enjoyed it so much! The food was great, and the service was wonderful. They have a beautiful tree in the middle. Everything looks clean and neat. I absolutely love the ladies uniform, they all match and looks very feminine. But I wonder why this restaurant don't have uniform for the men? He only wore an orange t-shirt. I recommend you guys do the same for the men, so they can look professional too! Overall, I had a fantastic experience. I recommend this place to everyone if you haven't been, you're missing out! more

Excellent Thai 9/23/2009

After having been hearing so much about this place, I finally had to give it a try since my friend, Meg and I were in the area. She couldn't beleive this was my first time to L'thai since she knew I'm addicted to Thai food and eat Thai at least twice a week. This place was so very cozy with low lightings, soothing music and sound of the waterfall, and the food was truely superb. The coconut soup I had was the best I've ever had, the Panang curry was also out of this world, I got to taste Meg's Pad Thai (they called it old fashioned way) and it was awesome, and best of all, we shared a dessert called FBI, fried banana with mango ice cream. This alone would have me drive from midtown every week. I have eaten at just about every street corners that have Thai Restaurants. This is by far one of the best in Atlanta. PS I also ordered the Pad Thai to go for my husband, Gary. He took one bite and said ""Holy food, let's go there tomorrow!"". We give this one a 5 stars! Pros: Clean and fresh tasting in every bites more

Great food, filthy environment! 8/24/2009

It's been a couple months since I took another visit to L'thai. The food was delicious as can be, but I did not enjoy sitting at the booth last time, nor did I like to sit at the table this time. The booth is very uncomfortable, and I learned my lesson the last time to dine in it. So, I went for the table this time, but while enjoying my food, a drop of water fell on my head. I thought it was just me, but it happened constantly and I soon found out that they have leaking ceiling! Not only that, but the place where we ate was so dark, it seems like they were out of electricity? Also, later we order togo and they pack our food in an aluminum container? How can you call it togo if I have to use my own bowl later to microwave it? The food is not even secure, my curry spilt everywhere and it seems like the box was smaller than before! I will never order togo at l'thai again. Maybe not to dine either. It was a bad experience, even tho the food and service are good but it's not worth the trouble with the bad environment. Pros: food, service Cons: environment more

Fabulous experience! 8/7/2009

My friends and I decided to try out this relatively new restaurant in the West Village in Smyrna for a little change of pace, and we were pleasantly surprised! The spring rolls were fabulous and our entrees were top notch as well. The staff was super courteous and helpful. Highly recommended! Pros: Great food, nice selection! more

Great Eggrolls 7/17/2009

This place has fantastic eggrolls. It's also got a tree INSIDE! Go see it. Pros: Pretty Inside Cons: Small Sign more

Unpleasant, Dusty, Not Totally Organic as Advertised 6/28/2009

Bad service. Seems like only 10% of the food on the menu is ""organic"" (if that)? Seems like they use a lot of non-natural flavorings in the food- hard to tell but at the very least a lot of salt is used. Some food is not prepared on premises like the so called fresh ""seaweed salad"". Dusty fake plastic plants make most of the decor. Hideous large plastic tree in the center of the restaurant; a faux ""tree of life"" so to speak. Old uncomfortable and cheap furniture and chairs. Bathroom not very clean, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Overpriced. Significantly. If you want true organic, clean, healthy food you should go to somewhere you can trust like Whole Foods Market or Five Seasons in Alpharetta is very good and doesn't try to pretend to be something it clearly is not. Go eat at L'Thai, if you are brave or like being fooled. Pros: None I can Think Of Cons: Food and Cleanliness more

Awesome new location in West Village 5/16/2009

Last night a group of us tried L' Thai for the first time but, we went to the new location in West Village. I highly reccommend you pay this place a visit! The food was fantastic! I had the drunken noodles with steak & spring rolls and, it was sooooo good. The service was good! Like Thai food and you live in Smyrna? Do yourself a favor and swing by! Pros: Fantastic Food! more

Wonderful Valentine's Dinner 2/15/2009

After hearing so much about L'Thai, my husband and I went there for the 1st time last night for our Valentine's dinner. We got there early around 5:30 pm to beat the crowd and almost didn't get seated because we didn't have a reservation. They were booked for special 5-course menu at $39.95 per person, which after seeing what they had to offer, it was reasonable. For appetizers, I had Vegan Rolls which was superb, and my husband had Blanketed Shrimp which he said was very good. Then we both had coconut soup which was also very good. For salad, both Green Papaya salad with bay shrimp and Grapefruit & Berries salad were light and excellent. And for entrees, the Sea Bass with 3-flavor sauce was the best fish dish we've ever had, and the Angus Filet Mignon with curry sauce were absolutely out of this world. By the time we get to dessert we were so full, but whatever they bought us (called TLC) was very good and got finished. The service staff was also very courtious and professional eventhough they were jam packed with a line at the door by the time we left. We had such a wonderful time last night. We will be back often and wil recommend L'Thai to everyone. Pros: Food, Service and Ambience Cons: Shopping Strip more

Best Thai Food Ever 12/29/2008

The food at this restaurant is GREAT!. The restaurant decor is authentic. The staff is friendly. The prices are reasonable. Whenever I get a craving for Thai food, I'm going to come back here. I'll make sure I pass the good news on to my family and friends. This place deserves business. Pros: Everything was AWESOME! Cons: Nothing more

Exceptional experience 9/13/2008

I've never considered critique a restaurant, but this one is exception. I live in San Francisco and have come to Atlanta for business meetings this week. After knowing that Friday night dinner is Thai food at L'Thai, and since I love Thai food and have visited Thailand several times, I couldn't help but to check out this place here at Citysearch. I was rather both excited and skeptical with all the great reviews, recognitions and awards this place received. We went last night, and the experience was exceptional. My Crab Rolls was superb, my Tom Kah soup was excellent, and my Roasted Duck Curry was incredible. Everyone else also seemed to thoroughly enjoy their meals. Besides their great ambiance, their fine food and service, they also have exceptional beer and wine selections I've ever seen in an Asian restaurant. In conclusion, this is the best Thai dinner experience, both in US and abroad. I wish their continue successes and hoping they consider opening one in SF. Pros: Organic concept Cons: Not in SF more

Great beer & wine list and exquisite food indeed 8/26/2008

Never thought of driving to Tucker for Thai food since there're several decent Thai restaurants nearby in Vining and Midtown already, but was invited to a friend's BD party this pass weekend. This place was in an old strip mall near Home Depot on the corner of Jimmy Carter and L'ville Hwy. Not a very good first impression regarding location, but when I went inside, it was totally unexpected. The ambience was relaxing with the sound of water fall and soft music. The menus and the beer and wine list were quite extensive and at very decent price. But best of all, the food was excellent. There were 8 of us altogether. My wife and I, and another couple eat meats, but my friend, her husband and the other couple were vegetarians. So after a few sips of gewurztraminer, we ordered some different vegetarian appetizers to share. All were exceptional. For salad, we all shared organic mixed green salad with oil-less peanut dressing. Quite nice and lighjt. For entree, I had the sea bass with ginger sauce which was probably the best I ever had. My wife loved her fried lobster tail with curry sauce. She said it was better than at Pano's & Paul's. I tasted it and it was superbindeed. Other couples seemed to also enjoy their meals as well. After the meal, the waiters brought my friend a complimentary dessert with candle and sang her a happy BD. It was custard made with tarot root. She let me taste it and it was also very good. For my wife and me, we shared a dessert called FBI, which was fried banana with cream cheese and mango ice cream. It was totally exquisite. Others also loved their desserts, especially one had flaming coconut ice cream. The whole evening was quite an experience with great food, great wine, and great companies. As we parted, I asked my friend how she found this place since she lived in Roswell. She said she was invited to a BD party as well, and had been coming back since. Well, my BD is coming up in three weeks, so I guess I'll be back sooner than I thought. Pros: Food, Ambience, Beer & Wine List, Service Cons: Location more
