Best

The death of a pet is always difficult. We at Piper Glen Animal Hospital do everything we can to provide the best possible care to all the animals we see. As in human medicine, ...

Worst

We specifically chose this place because they have a ""feline specialist""...hog wash! I'm sorry but the ""specialist"" isn't any better than any vet...and worse, she's indiffere...

traumatic experience 12/11/2008

My puppy and I both were traumatized by our first experience at this vet hospital today. I will never go back. Poor communication and total insensitivity from the vet tech. Very disappointing and stressful. I don't recommend them. more

Bad Puppy Experience 12/11/2008

I've been showing dogs and thus going to vets for about 30 years and this was my first really bad vet experience! The vet tech took my 2 lb puppy into the back to 'weigh' her. After it was taking so long, I went back to find her and see what was going on. There I see there are TWO vet techs holding her down as if she is some raging rottweiler just to take her temperature, which I had not okayed in the first place for this tiny puppy! I was hoping she would have a GOOD first time experience at the vet and not be unduly frightened and I sure didn't expect her to be roughly handled like that! These two insensitive techs were not talking to her, or helping her through this experience and she was unnecessarily frightened. Considering she is a show puppy and I'm making have her receive GOOD experiences so she will enjoy going to dog shows and TRUST STRANGERS, this really may have set her back, not to mention IT WAS SO UNNECESSARY!!! This may seem like a small and insignificant thing to those vet techs or even the veterinarians there, however, these actions may have lasting effects on my puppy when she is handled by a dog show judge in the future. And not to mention it was completely uncalled for to manhandle her like that in the first place, showdog or not!! And it was SO CONTRARY to every other vet experience I've had over 30 years of taking in my show puppies to vets. I only went there because I have moved to a new location. I'm so disappointed. It was traumatic for both me and my puppy, highly stressful. After this bad experience, we sat in the waiting room for quite a long time to see the vet, and I felt the bill was excessively high. Since when does it cost $28.+ for a fecal check when you take your own sample in?!?!? I will never go back to this vet hospital. Pros: The vet herself understands small dogs. Cons: Insisting on taking puppy in the back. Excessive and unnecessary restraint. Poor communication. Long wait for a scheduled appt. time. Over priced. more

friendly staff, doctor was very helpful 9/19/2008

I have had several issues with my current vet so decided to visit Piper Glenn to get a second opinion on my puppy. My friend takes her puppy there and recommended it to me after hearing the stories I had told her about my current vet's office. The staff at Piper Glenn were very friendly, my puppy just wanted to play while we were there. The office was comfortable and very clean. The vet was very knowledgeable and asked a lot of questions but most of all seemed genuinely concerned about my pet's health. Thanks to them we have finally figured out why my poor puppy is sick and how to remedy her. My bill came out to about $90 which is about what I pay for my pet on a healthcare plan through my other vet so the cost is not bad at all and completely worth the service. Pros: knowledgeable staff, friendly, caring, clean office more

Reference Checks Welcome - Response to licious13 Review 8/26/2008

Piper Glen Animal Hospital loves all of its ""babies,"" canine, feline, and exotics alike! We regret that malicious and dishonest people like licious13 can use the anonymous media of the Internet to libel/slander us. Hopefully you, who have taken the time to research our hospital, will consider the facts that clearly disprove the lies in that posting. The complaints mentioned in the review posted by licious13 were never made and the incidents alluded to did not occur. Contrary to prevarication, no bathing facilities are visible from the reception and waiting area. Piper Glen Animal Hospital has never invoiced a client for any amount approaching $10,000. Our hospital and boarding facilities are state-of-the-art. We take pride in and are recognized as a standard bearer in maintaining clean and odor-free accommodations. Our boarding facilities operate under a strict flea-free policy. We encourage interested prospective clients to check us out and we welcome all reference checks. We will freely provide references from clients verifying our patients are treated, pampered, and loved! (704) 541-7171 Pros: State-of-the-Art Veterinary Care & Facilities more

great if you have a dog, cat or strange symptoms - go elsewhere 7/31/2008

We specifically chose this place because they have a ""feline specialist""...hog wash! I'm sorry but the ""specialist"" isn't any better than any vet...and worse, she's indifferent.\r \r It's a dog's world here in Charlotte and if you have a kitty with a rare problem this is NOT the place to go. I honestly do not think they know how to treat, except for common sense suggestions I could have figured out on my own. And, they don't really seem to care one way or the other either. 10 K later and we still don't know what is wrong with our boy. All they suggest is slicing him open to ""explore"". He's just a baby too...so it's not like he has a geriatric illness. Everything with every animal is a ""allergic response""...that's their M.O. there. So be prepared to fork out a lot of money to be told just that.\r \r \r And, my kitty went in for his neutering and never came back the same. I have had MANY pets and this is the first time neutering seem to scar him. Not the surgery itself, but he is now scared to death of people, when he NEVER was before. I believe they handle the pet rougher than needed behind the closed doors where the owners can't see. I once watch a dog get a bath while waiting for my appointment. The tech handling that poor dog was so rough. She kept yanking at his neck collar to get to to behave. I'm not even a dog person and I felt sad for that poor dog.\r \r Lastly, we checked out boarding for cats. Embarrassing! I wanted to board my little guy here, but I would never do that to him after seeing what the boarding facilities look like. Did it stink! oh...and get this..the tech told me that they rarely get problems with boarding...only small issues like spreading FLEAS! To me that is not a small problem! Pros: close to where we live Cons: so many that we decided to drive twice the distance for a vet that cared. more

Bailey loves this place! WOOF! 5/7/2008

Bailey has been a patient of theirs for several years and I'm always amazed at their level of service. They send timely reminders for his check-ups and the doctors are great. The grooming area always has openings and they are cheaper than the pet spa up the street. The offer an oatmeal bath for scratchy dogs that always seems to do the trick. Very friendly staff too! more
