I've been showing dogs and thus going to vets for about 30 years and this was my first really bad vet experience! The vet tech took my 2 lb puppy into the back to 'weigh' her. After it was taking so long, I went back to find her and see what was going on. There I see there are TWO vet techs holding her down as if she is some raging rottweiler just to take her temperature, which I had not okayed in the first place for this tiny puppy! I was hoping she would have a GOOD first time experience at the vet and not be unduly frightened and I sure didn't expect her to be roughly handled like that! These two insensitive techs were not talking to her, or helping her through this experience and she was unnecessarily frightened. Considering she is a show puppy and I'm making have her receive GOOD experiences so she will enjoy going to dog shows and TRUST STRANGERS, this really may have set her back, not to mention IT WAS SO UNNECESSARY!!! This may seem like a small and insignificant thing to those vet techs or even the veterinarians there, however, these actions may have lasting effects on my puppy when she is handled by a dog show judge in the future. And not to mention it was completely uncalled for to manhandle her like that in the first place, showdog or not!! And it was SO CONTRARY to every other vet experience I've had over 30 years of taking in my show puppies to vets. I only went there because I have moved to a new location. I'm so disappointed. It was traumatic for both me and my puppy, highly stressful. After this bad experience, we sat in the waiting room for quite a long time to see the vet, and I felt the bill was excessively high. Since when does it cost $28.+ for a fecal check when you take your own sample in?!?!? I will never go back to this vet hospital.
Pros: The vet herself understands small dogs.
Cons: Insisting on taking puppy in the back. Excessive and unnecessary restraint. Poor communication. Long wait for a scheduled appt. time. Over priced.
