Kravings in Tarzana truly has the most amazing happy hour I have had. The drinks specials are decent, but the food is what will blow you away. Lobster, oysters, crab, and shrimp at great prices???
Amazing.... just amazing.
My Indulgence:
Chilled 1.5 lbs. Maine Lobster ($20) - It's the whole lobster conveniently butterflied in half with no icky inners leftover. It's served on ice with a selection of butter, cocktail sauce, horseradish, lemon, and a tiny bottle of hot sauce. Very nice! And a pound and half at $20!?! Very very nice!
Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon ($9) - This is a full entree and is wonderful!! You get three medallions of filet mignon (made to order) wrapped in bacon and served with a tasty side salad, tabouli, a thick cucumber yogurt, and pita bread. All that for only $9??? WOW. I ordered medium rare and they were cooked perfect.
Blue Point Oysters ($1 each) - Served on ice with cocktail sauce, horseradish, and lemon. They weren't the best I have ever had, but I did enjoy them.
Eggplant hummus with pita bread ($6) - This is amazing!!! It's a generous serving and is absolutely a MUST!!! Trust me.
Chilled Jumbo Shrimp ($10) - You get five huge prawns.
Caesar Salad ($7) - A large serving with good dressing and whole anchovies. I love anchovies, but if you don't... ask them not to add them.
***My next try will be the King Crab Legs (10 oz. for $15) That's a great price!
They also have little combos you can get such as:
*1/2 lb. peel and eat shrimp, 6 oysters, 2 tap beers ($15)
*1/2 lb. peel and eat shrimp, 2 Coronas, 2 shots of Sauza Tequila ($16)
*1 chilled lobster, 1/2 lb peel and eat shrimp, 1 bottle of J. Roget Champagne ($33)
*Assorted olive and cheese platter, 2 glasses of Pinot Noir ($18)
They also have a good Happy Hour drink menu:
*5 different wines offered at $6-7. I've had the Pinot Grigio and it was quite good
*21oz. draft beer ($4) Either Pyramid, Samuel Adams, Heineken, or Amstel Light
*Any Smirnoff drink ($5)
*Vodka Martinis ($6)
*Lemon Drop with Gray Goose ($6) Was definitely tasty!
*Pomegranate Martini ($6)
The actual bar is a decent size and has a *small* lounge area. I would say it's good for a small group of friends. If you check out their website, you can see their decor is nice and sleek. A great place for a date.
Now their service is superb! Each time I've been, the waitress was friendly and attentive, and the manager on duty would check on us periodically through the night. Excellent service!!
As you can see by the food, it's not your typical happy hour place where you'll get small plates for $3-4 dollars. Your tab might be a bit higher than your average happy hour experience but where else can you get this selections for such great prices? You will leave full and happy!.
Tip: Don't park in the lot in front because it's one hour max. But there is a large parking structure in back and it's free.
Their happy hour is 4:30 -7:00pm seven days a week and 10pm-11:30pm Wed-Sat.
Pros: Great HH food
