Jan. 31, 2014 AWFUL!!!!! FALSE ADVERTISEMENT AT IT'S BEST!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE. \r \r Went there Wed. night for all you can eat lobster. Reservations were for 9pm, we were seated at 9:30pm, after being seated and had ordered a bottle of wine, we advised they ran out of lobster. We were ready to get up and go when their manager Jonathan came to the table, gave a very nice apology, offered us to stay and he invited us to come back Friday night for all you can eat crab/Brazilian night. He offered us half off on a bottle of Johnny Walker black and 20% off any item on the menu that night. We stayed spent 200.00 and left excited for Friday's event. \r \r Party of six reserved for 9pm by Jonathan the manager himself. Upon arrival we wait about 15 mins. get seated at 9:15, no bread, no water, nothing til 9:30 when the waiter first comes to our table. We asked for wine and the bottle of Johnny Walker black. He brings the bottle of black no ice, no glasses and leaves. He brings and serves the wine. The guys asked him again for ice, water and glasses, he disappears, 9:45 here comes the bread, men are still waiting for the ice and glasses. Waiter forgets the ice again but is ready to take our order. When we say we are here for the crab night, he tells us, ""oh sorry but we stop serving the special at 9:00pm"", but tonight we are out of crabs. Funny how Jonathan conveniently forgot to tell about their cut off time on Wed. night. \r \r On we go.....We ask to see Jonathan, here he comes with his sorry ass face and has the audacity to tell us he set aside some crab knowing we were coming but couldn't give us the special b/c they were out. At no time did this guy apologize or even showed any remorse for ruining what we thought would be a nice evening. Needless to say we walked out at 10pm and went to another restaurant, where we spent over 700.00 dollars. It's too bad the NEWPORT BEACH HOTEL allows this place to operate out of their lobby, as it affects their patrons directly. Don't be surprised if one of the local t.v. stations rats them out on the news, they totally deserve it. We will bring awareness to patrons on every site we review them. Just to make sure other patrons don't fall for this gimmick. Please spread the word to all your friends make sure everyone knows this place is dishonest. Read the reviews for yourself and see how many others have had the same experience. more

Not good. At all. 5/29/2010

My wife and I went there last Thursday to celebrate my new job. I had purchased a Groupon coupon for the place a while ago after hearing good things about it so we decided to go there. A little anecdote upfront: I had called for a reservation and left a message with my name and number. A few hours later I was called back to confirm the reservation. The girl on the phone asked me for my name and my number. When I pointed out that she had just called me so she should have my number she took a while to grasp that fact, instead explaining to me why she needed my number... but I thought it was more funny than anything else. First impression: the hostess and waitress were nice, when we asked to have the A/C that was blowing right onto our table turned down a little they did that right away. The decor is so-so. Someone tried to make it look nice but there are many loose ends that destroy the initial good intention (e.g. a projector that displayed the Windows screen in the back for hours, the DJ booth with tons of cables hanging out). The other guests were a mixed bag from stylish hipsters to fat ladies in T-shirts. Me wife is following a specific diet and had selected two dishes from the menu on the website. Both dishes were not on the menu when we got there and weren't available. She then ordered tuna cakes and a large salad. Both were OK. The waitress recommended a ""all you can eat"" meat special and I went for that. I ordered a clam chowder as a starter but I received a tomato soup with only ""we're out of clam chowder"" as an explanation. I'm not a difficult person so I ate the tomato soup instead but I think they should ask to customer first and not decide for him... I had ordered a lamb and mango skewer and a steak with pepper sauce to start out. The lamb was burnt, no mango in sight, the steak had no sauce whatsoever and the truffle fries were old. Cole slaw with cilantro was OK. I ate the cole slaw and returned the rest. Oh, they never asked how I wanted the steak cooked and I received it well done (I like it medium). I got another skewer, this time with mango. It was burnt again. I got another serving of truffle fries and they were old again. By that time my wife had finished her dinner. I had complained to the waitress and she obviously told the manager because he came to our table, apologized and offered a 20% discount. We liked the gesture and accepted. I ordered my next course but by then it was about 10:30pm and they started to remove the tables around us and to turn up the music to a level where we couldn't talk anymore. We were left sitting on an empty dance floor with disco strobe lights. Terrible feeling... We then just had enough. We left our half-full bottle of wine on the table and got up to get the check at the entrance. When we got the check the Groupon coupon (that I had given to the same waitress before ordering) was not taken into account. We complained and then the waitress just told us that it was OK and we didn't have to pay anything beyond the $50 coupon. The check was only $43 with the 20% discount we got from the manager, though... The only highlight was that the valet service didn't charge us the $10 that were due but only wanted a voluntary tip. I'm sure that went into his own pocket... Pros: They can make salads, the service was OK Cons: Everything else more

Great Menu and Atmosphere 7/30/2008

I had my 56th 'Birthday Bash' at Kitchen 305. It was outstanding. We dined, drank and danced til the morning hours. The menu was fabulous and the service was excellent. The atmosphere is so romantic and fun! I had the salmon, my husband had the veal chop and both were delicious. The chef came out to visit the tables and was very friendly and gracious to all the guests in the restaurant. We will definately be back and continue to dance and dine at Kitchen 305! Pros: Food, entertainment, atmosphere Cons: 4am is too early to stop the music and dancing!! more
