King's Transmission

we took our propane run, 350 Chevy engine in to get a service as we are new owners to it. 10 days later we get it back $1500. we plan a road trip for the weekend and completely loose power 20 miles in. Immobile on a Friday after spending $1500 for fluid changes and a tune up and this shop wants to tell me to bring it back in and we can take a look. No! first off we cant get a tow, we are too large, that's why we wanted to get serviced before we left. At this point I don't trust your shop and I want a refund, they refuse. now that I've shared my story I keep getting told stories of others in my area having had the same poor service, over charging and being rude when customers cant afford their botch job/ over charged service fees ($125 per hour). Every little service is charged at an hour. we paid $897 in labor alone. Apparently they ordered us premium spark plug wires and didn't secure them properly, causing one to fry through and us to overheat. Small mistake that leads to big problems. I don't recommend this shop, especially for customer service reasons. it took 22 days for the owner to call me....22 days and you want me to bring it in so you can say what? that it wasn't your fault? We had to find a mechanic near where we where stranded, no we wont be back in your shop. more

I took my jeep into kings transmission because I had a significant coolant leak. They put in a brand new radiator and thermostat and assured me my coolant leaks were over (700$ later) then less then TWO WEEKS after I got my car back I had another coolant leak that was worse then before. My radiator hose was leaking, everyone I talk to tells me hoses should be swapped out whenever you get a new radiator but apparently kings transmission likes to leave a old corroded hose there so they can charge you to replace it later. They charged me a additional 106$ to replace a hose that should have been replaced from the start. The employees also never called me to keep me posted or tell me I could come get my car, I had to always be the one to call and check in. This place is the WORST repair shop I have ever used!!! I would rather push my car down the street to a different shop then ever have these LOSERS touch my car again more

Very true i was told my transmssion was rebuilt i later found out by the dealer it was not. It was rebuilt 3 times by them they charged me for a rebuild with so called electronics they jut replaced my broken part but took me on the rest. J.s more

I pulled up and i could see the old guy run away- after he finaly came back he told me come back in the morning to get my transmision checked it was 2 pm huh---- very poor service outdated care. more

I spoke with Eric regarding transmissions on the 46RH models (Mopar) how to extend the life of the transmission. He gave me good avice to use a good high quality synthetic tranny fluid like Amsoil. Keep the temp down and keep changing the filter regularly. Even gave me good advice not to get a cooling fan for the transmission because the factory cooler are self regulating. more

All repairs have been excellent and Eric and his team are great to work with. In fact I travel from Des Moines just to use this shop. more

We've used Kings Transmission for over ten years. Owner Eric takes pride in his shop and has customer empathy. We've used him for transmission, water pump, shocks, brakes, tuneups and oil changes. He even helped us recover savings off of a manufacturer's part warranty we didn't even know we had. When we had a car die on the way to Mt. Good: Radiator leaked lots of coolant into the tranny and tranny was in big trouble. I was prepared replace the radiator & rebuild tranny. But Eric proposed 2 steps. FIRST--estimate radiator replacement, exceptionally thorough flushing of tranny, changing of tranny filter, replace hoses, coolant & tranny fluid. Then perform driveability tests to see what further repairs were needed. SECOND--Estimate any further repairs needed. RESULT---Driveability was excellent and NO FURTHER REPAIRS WERE RECOMMENDED!. Other: Eric has earned my hearty endorsement! It is so pleasing to find a shop that will offer alternatives to help save the customer money. I was convinced that I had no choice but tranny rebuild. Better Business Bureau history for King's two shops shows A+ (top) BBB rating and only 1 complaint (resolved) in 3 years, so I was prepared to accept any reasonable estmate for total repair. Instead of locking in a total rebuild job, Eric recommended an option that saved me $$$ and justified their BBB A+ rating! KODOS!. more

They have done so much work for me over the years, and whenever there is a little something extra, they will do it for free. They are always very nice, very pleasant, and always have time for me. Anything from fuel pumps to control arms, they have been there for my Chevy. more

My husband and I have been going to this shop for about 5 years and I have been completely satisfied with my experience. I used to take my car to a dealership, where they consistently wanted to wring money out of me, but at Kings I've always experienced honesty, and good service at a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend them for all types of auto repair. The only down side is that there is no loaner car. more

Eric is about one thing. Taking all your money. He is the most greedy person there ever was. He cheats his employees out of holiday pay and mandatory overtime. If you refuse to work FREE overtime, then he'll send you home regardless how much work there is. He also owns the store in Kent. Once he gets your vehicle, it's all over! Do your self a favor and STAY AWAY! Unless you have a surplus of money and like giving it to greedy people who try to get a head by cheating and stealing! more

My normal shop was to busy to take my truck so they offered to tow it to King Transmission. This was Tue. 3/31. We had to call repeatedly and was always told they we're busy and would call back..They never did and when we would call back or stop in they acted as if we were inconviencing them. It was more than 8 days befor we ever even got an estimate or any kind of time line. Believe if I could have driven my truck it would have been long gone from this shop. Now 10+ days later (when on day 8 they said my truck would be done) We have to stop in again....because no call, to pick up our truck. OH and for $500 more than the top of their estimate. Talk about being taken to the cleaners. PLEASE PLEASE learn from our mistake and keep you car as far away from this incompetent shop as possible. more

I have been going to Kings Transmission in Renton for years and can not say enough good things about the service and people who work there. They have replaced transmissions on 2 of my cars, plus they do a great job with general repair and maintenance. I refer all my friends and family to this auto repair shop. more

The service here reminds me of the old neighborhood auto shop where the mechanics new everyone who lived in town. Eric, the owner of the shop is a great guy and was very helpful. more
