Terrible!!! If you love your pets don't ever buy a puppy from here! Two friends of mine both purchased puppies from here one a year ago, and another a week ago, both had sick puppies on their hands and one of them had to do the unthinkable , but most humane thing and allow THEIR vet to put her puppy down after 3 opinions and a deadly contagious disease! First one bought a silky terrier who seemed healthy and had all his shots only to find out a week later he had kennel cough and a nuerological disorder that caused him to go cross eyed and fall over which THEIR vet said could only be from being inbred! With medication king neptunes doesn't pay for, this pup still leads a happy life. The next friend only had her puppy a matter of days before rushing to an emergency vet in the wee hours of the morning for her. 8 week old pup who was screaming in pain only to find to her horror there was nothing she could do or could have done to save it! 3 vets including their vet at timberline animal hospital concluded the 8 week old pup had meningitis, at 8 weeks old it most likely came with meningitis to king neptunes where since meningitis is contagious, it most likely infected other puppies/animals. Now had the puppy actually been checked by a vet before going to king neptunes as they state that they do, my friend wouldn't have had to lose her puppy right after becoming attached. When she confronted the woman at king neptunes she was told that even though their vet doesn't offer emergency care after hours, they still would not pay the emergency vet bill also bc it's against the contract they had her sign when she bought the puppy. They also were not at all going to refund her money, instead they would replace the puppy. Is your pet replaceable? No their not, and replace with what? With one of the other dogs that were playing alongside her puppy in the pen two days in a row before she came up with over a grand to buy it ?? How many other puppies infected with meningitis are still being sold even after this tragedy? They don't care at all there, all it's worth to them is money not mans best friend!! All these posts calling complaints "" lyers"" well first of all, LIARS only consist of the owners/ operators of king neptunes and all these good reviews are probably the lies. Ok. "" all the puppies look healthy and the store is clean"" the only dogs n puppies that don't ""look"" healthy are emaciated and flea ridden ones or even mange but you can't look at a puppy and see that a bacteria is in their body slowly spreading to their spinal fluid then shooting up to their brains putting them in extreme pain before their brains literally melt! They can blame the breeders all they want and let's face it I'm sure the breeders conditions are disgusting but they say how all their animals are vet tested healthy and clearly it's crap! People like those at king neptunes have an extra hot place in hell reserved for them for being so negligent and cruel to those without a voice, RIP to all puppies/dogs lost bc of these irresponsible money hungry words do not even do them justice at KING NEPTUNES PET WORLD in shorewood, il. more

A few yrs back i bought an American Eskimo that was only about 4 months old. When i brought him home it took about 1 week for him to become more active because he had kennel cough. From what i have read it seems to be a negative pattern here. more

I've heard many bad and some good things about the place. Been going here since I was a child. I am 18. Prices are AWFUL. I bought a fish tank at a pet store for $20 that was for sale here for $70. What a joke. My friend has been a reptile collector since he was a child and claims every snake/lizard he ever got here had mites or digestive infections. I personally have had very unfortunate problems with multiple varieties of pets from this establishment. I do not WANT to say negative things about local business but I can honestly and unbiasedly state that this store does not deserve a good rating. more

I have been living in Shorewood my entire life and am very active within the community. Im in Neptunes atleast three times a week for all of my pet's needs. I have recently purchased a boxer puppy from them and she is the sweetest dog in the whole world, no health problems, and the price included the spaying and rabies vaccination for her on top of all the routine vet work that was already done when we bought her, and she was still with all of that a 1000 less than Petland or Furry Babbies in the Louie mall. I have in the past purchased two kittens from them and two other dogs, which are now 7 and 11. The staff is fantastic and always respectful and knowledgeable. These negative reviews on here are so strange to me, it's like they were written by people who have never been into King Neptunes. The store is always spottless, and all the animals cages are always clean and the pets are very well cared for. Folks take it from someone who has been going there for over ten years now, this pet store is the best in the area, hands down. more

This is the best pet store my family have ever been in. There is never a dirty cage or any odor. All there pets are very happy and always playful. I check them out with the Il. dept of ag. and this store hasn't had a bad mark in 28 years. I recommend you see for yourself, and not trust what their competors write bad about them. Their fish all always great too, and they give a two week guarantee. check them out, you will like what you see ! They alsio have a AAA RATING with the better business bureau . more

I bought a Yorkshire Terrier from King Neptunes. I asked before buying what problems this breed has, and he answered ""none, their only problem is that they are too cute"". I payed $1300 for my ""perfect puppy"". The dog had kennel cough, giardia (an intestinal parasite), and Leg Perthes Disease, a congenital disorder, (which required a $1500 surgery to correct along with rehab of the leg). You would be much better off adopting a dog, they are healthier than the dogs offered by this pet store. more
