I have lived in Flint since the early 50's, having moved here from the South at that time. Have known about King Arthur's Pasties since my early adulthood, when their only location was down on Third Avenue next to Atwood Stadium. There are none else like them. To me, it is Comfort Food. I remember that recipe being published, and at one time I clipped a recipe for pasties from the Journal. I'm just hoping they're one and the same. Could you email me, so that I can confirm that it is? more

Best Pasties in MI 3/16/2006

King Arthur's Pasties in the Flint area have been a favorite of mine since I worked downtown in my young adulthood. At some point in the late 70s, The Flint Journal even had the original recipe in a full page article about the King Arthur's Pasties Shops. I still have that paper and have made pasties from the recipe, but I still try to stop and pick up a bunch for the freezer when ever I am in the Flint area. Let me also say, I have eaten many pasties in the UP of MI where pasties are famous,...and, well, these are better...in my opinion. more
