Most Beautiful Restaurant Downtown Hands Down! 12/4/2008

Pretty is an understatement when describing Kincaid's. Breathtaking is more like it. Not to mention that it's located inside a mall. I guess that's what takes you by surprise. The food and service are just as fantastic as the decor, but as a true woman I was sold on the ambience. The bar is huge and appears to be stocked with about every bottle you can think of. It's very ""Frank Sinatra"" with dark wood and club chairs. The dining room carries the same wood with deep, high back booths and intimate tables. As far as food and wine goes, they have a expansive wine list with options in any price range and, believe it or not, their own sommelier. His name is Sam. He's very approachable and not what you picture when you think wine guy. He was able to guide us to a couple of great steals on the menu. He also suggested the chocolate torte with a ruby port. It was an amazing pairing and I'm not even a fan of port. If you go, be sure to try the prime rib. It's rock salt roasted, a concept pretty new to me, but it definitely made a difference in taste. It was moist, tender, juicy and came with garlic mashed potatoes. My husband had the asiago halibut with white wine butter sauce. Amazing. All in all, it was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. We will be back. Pros: Ambience, wine list, service more

California Dining on the East Coast 12/3/2008

We were in town from southern California and were so pleased to find a Kincaid's here. The service and quality of our dinner was just perfect! My husband and I had our first date at Kincaid's and he proposed there. It's a very upscale restaurant and we visit it often. We love the bread pudding!!!\r Pros: Beautiful Decor, The Best Service! Cons: None. more

A Gem in Downtown Norfolk 10/31/2008

This restaurant is beautiful and clean. Right from the start you know that you are in for a special treat because the host will greet you with a big smile and promptly show you to a beautiful table. There are a wide variety of different styles of tables so you can usually always have the type of seat you prefer. Next, the service, the waitstaff is always on point and you will never have to wait very long for your drinks or dinner because they are always helping each other out on the floor! They are all very kind and genuine and really care about creating a delightful experience for their guests. I always ask for Audrey or Scott! When something is wrong (which very rarely happens when I eat there) they are gracious and expedient in implementing a solution. The managers really want the best for their guests and are willing to accommodate any reasonable requests.\r Finally, the food! That's only one part of the picture but it is an important one! The food at Kincaid's is amazing. It isn't pretentious, it's just great food with a great taste that you would make for yourself at home if you had the time! They have all kinds of choices from fish, poultry, beef and pork! Also, the salads would make your healthy eating choices so easy and delicious! Try the Maple Chicken Salad!\r \r I cannot say enough about how awesome the fully stocked bar is at Kincaid's! It's the LARGEST bar back in all of Norfolk! The bar tenders are experienced and knowledgeable which means they make the signature sips at Kincaid's the BEST drinks you can buy! I HIGHLY recommend the Vanilla Sky martini, and make sure you ask that Kim make your drink for you. She is THE BEST!\r \r If you combine all three factors: the ambiance, the service and the food/drinks, you have an unbeatable dining experience awaiting you! This is a great place for large parties, celebrations (especially birthdays *hint*hint*), romantic dining and entertaining out of town guests.\r \r One of Norfolk's Finest! Enjoy! Pros: Friendly and knowledgeable staff, Great Food Cons: Busy during the Holidays more

very nice 10/17/2008

I love Kincaids. Have eaten there many times. A good place to take out of town guests. Never had a bad meal there and some have been extraordinary. The prices are on par with other good steak places. Have almost always had excellent service and the one time I didn't the manager made it up to me by not letting me pay for my meal. Pros: great food and location. Cons: no free parking. valet service available. more

The Best Prime Rib in Downtown! 9/3/2008

Great service, great drinks, great food! Hands down the best Prime Rib we have had in years. Our dinner waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive, the hostess friendly and helpful. Kincaid's was a pleasant surprise! And we will return! Pros: Great Service, Beautiful Decor more

Not a quality restaurant 7/31/2008

I have eaten at almost every nice restaurant in the Norfolk area and this should definitely NOT be considered one of those. It has good drinks and is good for a quick bite while shopping, but does not compare with other nice restaurants in the area (Bobbywood, Todd Jurich, Byrd and Baldwin steakhouse). The food is priced as expected for a nicer restaurant, but the flavor is just not there. As another reviewer mentioned this restaurant is in the mall and the quality shows that. Trust me if you love food and are in the Norfolk area then spend your money at one of the other restaurants mentioned. This is meant for people shopping not for dining as they lead you to believe. Pros: reasonable food for the mall Cons: Not a fine dining restaurant more

Awesome place! 6/21/2008

I always feel that I am treated very well by the staff here. The hostesses are very nice, the waiters are wonderful - it's nice to be treated with respect. The food is WONDERFUL. I have tried a lot of different things and have loved it all. As long as you know ahead of time that you are going to spend a good bit of money, this is a great place. My husband and I come here for every special occasion. Pros: service, food, atmosphere Cons: a little pricey more

Great lunch specials... 8/4/2007

I had lunch recently at Kincaid's. The server who waited on me, Scott D. was very warm, inviting, had a GENUINE smile and very courteous. I wasn't really sure what I wanted to order and he took the time to explain some of the lunch favorites and even told me about some of their specialty dishes. I ended up ordering the Caribbean Ahi Tuna, which I ordered rare. Scott came back after putting in my order to make sure I really wanted the dish rare. He really seemed to want to satisfy his dining guests, myself and the tables he waited on that surrounded me. I NEVER had to ask for any refills on my beverage. He came back often to check on me but never hovered. All-in-all I had a wonderful experience. If you ever dine at Kincaid's for lunch, I suggest you ask for Scott D. He is AWESOME! Pros: Great service and tasty food. more

Disapppointing for the money 11/20/2006

Poor service; the waiter couldn't remember our drink orders, and got the steaks wrong; it was only 3 of us! We could hardly find him when we needed refills, too. The salad tomatoes were ""food service"" grade. I'd expect the buyer to pick out the best ones, not plastic, mushy, pink ones, for the cost of a meal at Kincaid's. Pros: Good ambience Cons: You can't eat ambience more

Is such goodness so close?!? 2/13/2006

I was very impressed with the overall quality & 'feel' here! We started off with the house salad, which was absolutely flavorful. If any of it was frozen before it got to me, they must know an incredible secret for keeping the 'fresh' taste intact! The Rock Salt Roasted Prime Rib of Beef was simply incredible! I really didn't need the steakknife to be able to cut it. My ladyfriend's Grilled Center-Cut Fillet Mignon was, acording to her, "very salty". Not sure if it had anything to do with the Bearnaise she had them add to it or not. They had no problem preparing her another one, without the sauce. Pros: Ambiance, Upscale more

DON'T EAT HERE! 9/18/2005

POOR SERVICE, OBNOXIOUS WAIT STAFF, INCOMPETENT HOSTS, AND VERY INFERIOR FOOD. Pros: NONE, NONE, NONE Cons: SRVICE, FOOD, ATTITUDE more

Not the food court 1/8/2005

I have taken all of the friends and family who visit me to Kincaid's. The food is excellent and the service is great. It is a bit expensive but with the convenience of shopping at a great mall, unlimited parking and the atmosphere that makes you forget you are at a mall, it is worth the money. Make sure you try the appetizers. more

SOMEWHAT OVERRATED 7/11/2004

I've been to Kincaids three times and I've been DISAPPOINTED each time. 1. The food is 'artsy' (read: pretentious) in it's preparation and presentation. Dishes are over-seasoned; perhaps this is done to hide the fact that the portions are SMALL ? 2. Service is 'iffy', especially on Fridays and Saturday nights (when the place is PACKED). We once had to wait TWO HOURS for meals to arrive at our table ! Kincaids is popular and has a well-stocked bar. The staff and management are very polite and helpful. This is basically a restaurant in a shopping mall, where college kids, the yuppie crowd... and assorted wannabees can mingle and hang out. If you like hanging out in a chic, trendy 'yuppie' restaurant, and enjoy 'people watching', this is the place for you. If you seek a TRUE fine dining experience, there are FAR better choices in the Hampton Roads area. Pros: trendy, polite staff, full bar Cons: , small portions, slow service more

Great Restaurant 7/11/2004

Excellent quality food, service, atmosphere, etc. My Chesapeake Bay Crab Cakes were flavorful if a little salty, but my wife's petite filet mignon was top notch. Somewhat expensive, but I believe it is still a good value in terms of the excellent service and food. Even the house salad and garlic/rosemary breadsticks were very good. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere more

My favorite restaurant 6/11/2004

This place has undoubtedly captured my loyalty. If you want the best meal of your life, I suggest you head over to Kincaids. I have never been disappointed in all of my many visits. The last rating was correct in that the prices are a bit on the high side however...you get what you pay for. If you want low prices, go out for fast food. If you want TOP QUALITY cuisine, outstanding atmosphere and superb service, then Kincaids is your best bet. Try the Key Lime Pie Martini!! Pros: Delicious Food, Great Atmosphere, Excellent Menu Cons: , None, None more

EXTREMELY GOOD but expensive 6/2/2004

the food, the ambience, everything is wonderful at kincaid's (although the service is kind of iffy), but it is a bit overpriced. it's worth it once in while, but the prices keep me from going more often. and that's the ONLY thing that keeps me away. oh, and there's no kids menu, but i'd rather leave the kids at home for this one. Pros: food, ambience, location Cons: , crowded, service more

Excellent, but pricey 8/14/2003

Kinkaids is truly as good as all the previous reviews have indicated...superb food, outstanding service, wonderful atmosphere. The ""but"" in all this is that you really pay for it. An average dinner for two with two glasses of wine and tip can easily come to $130.00. It's not for everyone. Pros: wonderful food, outstanding service, superb ambience Cons: expensive, expensive, expensive more

Best restaurant in HR 6/27/2003

It was almost like Europe. The waiters are very polite and competent. Pros: Good drinks, Great food, Good wines more

Awesome Potatoes 1/22/2003

The Steaks are great, but the garlic potatoes are awesome! Tough place to go if you're on Atkin's Diet. Pros: Great Food Cons: Expensive more
