I wanted to custom design an engagement ring and wedding band for my mother as a surprise. Since I had designed a custom ring before using my own stones and gold I knew what a ballpark price would be, around $400-$600. Previously to going Killelea's I had an estimate done at the mall and they wanted to charge me $1050 which was a total rip off! So I went to Killelea's and brought in my own diamonds and my own gold (8 GRAMS of gold). I told them of my mall experience and they were sincerly shocked and told me that was a crazy price, which I had already known. So I was now expecting to get a way better price and had thought I was in the right hands. Well, they didn't pay any attention to any of my specifications. I had brought in a drawing and they just took a few glances at it and said to give them to the end of the week and they would have an estimate for me. I kept trying to go over the drawing to make sure they knew exactly what I wanted but they just kept brushing me off. I waited a full week and then thought well I've give them another week since it's Christmas. I waited 1 more week after that and finally went in for a visit. They couldn't find my diamonds! They barely remembered what I had even come in for and after they searched for several minutes they told me to go home and they would find them by the next day. At the end of the next day I hadn't heard anything so I decided to stop in and see what was going on. I was frantic because these diamonds were my great grandmothers and very special and irreplacable. When I walked in I had asked if they had found my diamonds and they told me they didn't even look yet. I began to tell them I was very upset and disappointed in the service I was recieving. The owner stood up and started going off on me about how he has all these people coming in and yelling at him asking where their stuff is and he's only one person. I said, umm you are being extreamly rude to me and unprofessional. I am the customer and you were supposed have this done for me weeks ago. He had the audacity to say to me "well why would you wait so long to come in if it was that important to you?". I walked out at that point and my boyfriend finished the conversation. They told him to give them a few days to locate my diamonds and gold and they would call me. They called today... They want to charge me $1000 to make the ring. Absolutely not! Then they tell me that they had already melted my gold down so they would have to give me a credit for it. SO now I HAVE to have the ring made there. I am so furious with the outcome of this experience words cannot describe! Don't go to this jeweler to have anything custome made, only go if you are going to purchase something from their cases.
