2 pets died 8/31/2010

I can't believe this place is still in business. Hopefully the vets from 15-20 years ago are gone (Johnson?). I had a cat seize/have a heart attack right on the table. I kept saying he was seizing and they were more worried about checking his bladder (had and infection). Later, like an idiot I took my 11 yr old beautiful full blooded German Shepherd there when he got sick. They treated him for heart worms (ARSENIC) and charged me over 100. Later per suggestions from friends, took him to Paw Patch (N. Keystone at the time). They told me he had a tumor!! I would have NEVER treated my dog for heartworms with arsenic, making him sicker, knowing he was going to die soon anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable! Be very carefule... more

Reliable no frills pet care 11/25/2009

Had surgery performed on my cocker spaniel for a tumor about a year and a half ago and was very satisfied with the care she received at a price much lower than the designer vets which seem to be the norm. They never pushed treatments and tests and actually seemed to enjoy seeing my dog. Recently I was forced to have my cocker put down and they were very caring and quick. If you want flash and high style with your pet care then you won't be satisfied. However, anyone wanting affordability and good care then I recommend. Pros: caring employees Cons: no frills - not really a con more

Keystone Pet Hospital is great budget care. 9/10/2009

This is a small clinic that is not big on frills. They have what you need, but you won't find a mural on the wall or expensive furnishings here. If that's what you like, you should probably look elsewhere, to one of the much pricier clinics in Broad Ripple. We took our dog here, fearing he had an ear infection (which had cost $300+ for treatment last time at a different vet). As it turns out, it was an allergic reaction. The doctor gave him a shot and a mild ear antibiotic (just in case the scratching would turn into an infection), and the appointment, shot, and medication cost less than $70. The dog has been fine since (7 months), unlike at the last place where he supposedly had a "difficult infection" and they strung us along for MONTHS with various tests and treatments. If they had given him an allergy shot, he would have been fine! I'm glad we FINALLY found a vet/clinic that won't tell lies to make a buck. Thank you, Keystone Pet Hospital for being affordable and prompt. more

Great care for a reasonable price from caring people 9/3/2009

We've been taking pets there since the 70's and have always found them caring and compassionate, especially during "end of life" times. Regular care is good, but if they spot a problem, they will act immediately. We usually don't board, but I we have used them, and had no problems. The cost is very reasonable which is especially important now. They don't try to sell you things or make you feel you are not doing enough to prevent things that might happen and will tell you honestly if a treatment is worth it or not. It's not fancy, just very down to earth. Remember, it's your attitude that your pet will pick up on, so be calm and positive. That's the way they. more

Keystone Pet Hospital is Great! 9/3/2009

It's not fancy. Very down to earth with reasonable prices. We've been taking our pets there for almost 30 years and they've done a great job, including the down times when the decision had to be made that a pet had to be euthanized. They call to let you know how your pet is doing after surgery but I think it's really to find out how you're doing. They don't try to sell you all kinds of extras or make you feel guilty if you don't buy special foods, supplements, etc. They are there when you need them and I know they do a lot of charitable work for the good of animals, not themselves. Pros: Sensible, affordable care from caring people Cons: None for me, but don't expect a ""spa"" setting. more

it's just a job for them 8/24/2009

been there, seen it all, cages "" so called clean"" not very clean, cages falling apart, staff not licenced. doctor not very friendly toward the dogs, act likes he has to be there, don't really want to do it, very, very unsantizes there. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! Cons: dirty, nasty, under fed, more

Keystone Pet Hospital is Awful! 7/8/2009

I boarded my dog here once and it was awful. I have felt guilty ever since. When I went to pick him up they didn't even know who he was and he had been there for 5 days! He was soaked in his own urine. The worker told me that he had gotten upset and just wet himself, but there was more urine than he can produce at once. When he got home he drank almost an entire bowl of water! For the next two days he was throwing up and urinating all over the place. I took him to a different vet because I thought he might have a UTI from holding it too long. When his bloodwork came back normal the other vet told me his vomiting and urinating was a manifestation of pure stress. Keystone Pet Hospital literally traumatized him. more

What a dump 5/4/2009

This place is a real dump. I had to go here to use my spay voucher for my new puppy. She was supposedly vaccinated as well, but now has kennel cough. The receptionist was the one who felt her for hernia and took her stitches out. I never met the vet which made me nervous. She didn't even try to retain me as a repeat customer or recommend heartworm or flea and tick preventative. I will not be going back. Pros: Cheap and participates in adoption voucher program Cons: I never met the vet more

Terrible care! 3/21/2009

I received an exam, bloodwork from this clinic for a rescue dog. the tech did not know how to do bloodwork and caused discomfort for the dog. The vet had to come in and do the work. The exam was poor-nothing was looked at unless I pointed it out. The dog was given an injection of meds that any knowledgeable vet would know this breed should not receive and I spent an anxious night watching for reactions. Prednisone was prescribed but not in the usual dosage . As a knowledgeable dog owner I recommend you seek other medical care for your pet. more

Good Service 11/24/2008

We have been a customer of Keystone pet since 1977. Whenever we need to board our pets, this is where we go. They are affordable and very caring. We have had two dogs and two cats under the care of Keystone Pet. The dogs lived to be 21 years and 19 years respectively and the cat 19 years. The cat I have now has been under their care for 11 years. There is no waiting, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend their services. more

Not recommended 10/10/2008

Please don't go here. If I had known, I would have taken my cat elsewhere. She needed to be put to sleep and during the appointment I was horrified to learn that the vet does not administer the medication through the vein in the front leg, as most vets do now, but instead directly into the kidneys or heart, after administering the same anesthetic that they use during surgery. The first anesthetic shot, the needle literally busted while in my cat (one staff member grumbled about those being "cheap needles"), so she had to have two shots. Then she was given a shot into her heart and we waited for her to pass--it took almost half an hour. Not what I wanted for my cat and not what I would recommend to anyone else. The staff didn't know what we were there for and later, when they did, lingered in the room for "shop talk" with each other while we were waiting for the anesthetic to work. And, to top it all off, the dog allowed to wander the office snapped at me. Like I said, I wish I had know more

Good care! 10/8/2008

We have taken our dogs Spencer and Rallo in numerous times. The staff is always friendly and helpful. In addition, they are knowledgeable. The affordability makes it easy for us to keep our dogs healthy. Thank you Keystone Animal Clinic!! more

excellent service 8/14/2006

I took my puppy to Keystone pet hospital when my puppy was sick. This clinic is well staffed and has knowledgeable doctors. The staffs are very helpful and friendly. The facility is also clean. I was very much impressed by their services. You no need to spend much time in waiting. I am very much satisfied. They take of pets a lot. Food for the pets are also available. Their price is also reasonable and when compared to other hospitals. I would recemmend this hospital to all. more
