Kellogg Construction

This company put tile in our home as part of insurance restoration work. They used glue under the backerboard rather than thinset and did not tape the joints, voiding the warranty. Mr. Quakenbush assured us he would redo it at his expense. Now we have been given an invoice that is much higher than the quote we were given for this tile work and other work. It includes charges for work that was not done and inaccurate accounts of amounts and materials used. Mr. Quakenbush also failed to file permits with the city for sub-flooring work, and we have been notified by the city that under state real estate disclosure law, we must notify any potential buyers of un-permitted work on the home. After being informed of these problems, Mr. Kellogg sent us an email stating that his company ""did the work"" and should be paid, so he has not been helpful thus far. We have requested a notarized statement that work was done that should have been permitted, but was not, was done to code, but have not received one yet. more

We had this company reccommended to us by our home insurer for roof damage from storms. They did the back of our roof in 2009 and did a fairly decent job. After the May 2010 storms, we had damage to the front of the roof so we went with them again. BAD IDEA!!! The front of the roof looks less than professional, we have numerous leaks around our dormers and despite trying to get someone to do something since November 2010, we still have leaks - more now than ever. It got to the point that Mr. Quakenbush did not even take our calls, but let them go to voice mail and ignored us. We have been going through an adjuster at the insurance company to try to get something done. Mr. Quakenbush told him that they would take care of us and even emailed me that some one would be out to ""fix "" the leak and the interior damage from the leaks. Yea, right. Someone came out and put caulk around one of the dormers and that night it rained and leaked again! And no one ever even tried to repair the interior problems, which includes mold in the sheetrock. I wouldn't even give a 1 star except that is the lowest you can go! Now, our insurer is trying to get them to reimburse the money paid for the work so that we can get someone else to do it. I won't even let anyone from Kellogg Construction come near my house anymore!! And if they give you a written warranty on the work.....don't believe it. We have one that is for 2 years and isn't worth the paper it is printed on! more
