Excellent Service 7/12/2010

Katra is an amazing establishement. The atmosphere is smooth and sylish. The service is amazing. Vanessa is the best. The DJ plays a mix of new and old pop music. I was on the dance floor the entire night. To all who go to Katra, I would strongly recommend one thing ------- The Coconut Bliss -------Amazing!!!!!!! Pros: Great atmosphere, awesome food, fabulous drinks more

MY BEAUTIFUL THING WAS EXTRA BEAUTIFUL 6/28/2010

What can I say about Katra other than I want MORE MORE MORE! I had my 40th birthday party there and could not have asked for a more perfect night. I reserved the VIP section upstairs and between the best bar tender/SERVER OF ALL TIME Vanessa and the BEST SECURITY OF ALL TIME AL, my guests and I truly felt like celebs for the night. Even the DJ acknowledged my birthday several times during the night and waved to me from the DJ booth. Vanessa and made sure my bottles kept coming and Chris is a sweetheart and I just think he is the best! Thanks to Nikki for making sure it all went off smoothly! The only drawback is I can't turn 40 again to do it all over at Katra.....or can I? LOL Pros: Everything! Cons: Wish they were open 24 hours!! more

AWESOME place,AMAZING service and ABSOLUTELY delicious food! 6/15/2010

I arranged my wife?s birthday party at Katra. We had approx. 35 people invited for a private party. They did an amazing job. They helped us plan the entire event. Starting with menu, d?cor, food, drinks, service, staff, etc. it was all excellent. We could not have picked a better place. We did visit multiple places and liked Katra the best..initially we were a little scared since we had never been to Katra before but we were thrilled after the event. So far 3 people have already contacted us so that they can also arrange their events at katra.. We highly recommend it. And yes the most important thing at Katra is its owner, Chris. He is sooo helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating that we do not have words to explain. He took care of the entire event and did a fabulous job. Our only recommendation is that you should listen to him?he really knows how to host a fantastic event. more

ROYAL TREATMENT 6/7/2010

I have held a long list of great events at Katra. From Fundraisers to Parties they have all been great! What makes it great is the level of service I received from everyone from Chris the owner down to the wait staff.. If something wasnt right Chirs made sure it was. My last event was a 30th birthday party 2 weeks ago. Our waitress was extremely attentive and kept us happy. The door staff managed our guestlist effectively and efficiently. It was a great night! I would recommend Katra over and over again without fail. They have remained top notch consistently delivering the best experience!!! Pros: Great Management who treated my party like SuperStars more

Stop...HAMMERTIME! 6/5/2010

I walked into Katra after 2AM for a friend's birthday party and the place was still pretty full. Unfortunately, the consequence of entering a packed place so late is that it guarantees that almost everyone will be drunk and have few social inhibitions. I was probably improperly groped/hit on by a half dozen men as I made my way to the private elevated area. Still, I had a good time and the crowd got less skeevy for the remained of the night. Drinks are pretty pricey, I believe it was $7 for a beer and $13 for a shot of Patron, (isnt every nice lounge/bar in NYC) but bartenders are quick to serve you and all the staff/bouncers I met were really personable. The back area is fairly nice if you can reserve it for a private party: lots of seating, tables, and Katra gives you one or two bouncers to close off any strangers. I will add that the music was fantastic. Lots of hip hop, and some 90's old-school as well. At one point, Can't Touch This began to play and I was so glad that I was fortuitously wearing my silk drop-crotch pants. All I could think of was this comic that i saw! lmao I stopped, stood up, and yelled "Hammertime!" before breaking out into the iconic dance. Excellent. They also played some southern dance songs, which are simultaneously cheesy and a lot of fun. I heard not only the eye-rolling inducing Stanky leg but also the cupid shuffle, which I learned to appreciate after a summer down south with delta kids. Hate if you may, but by 2AM, you should be too drunk to care anyway so don't take yourself too seriously. more

Nothing short of FABULOUS 6/2/2010

Last week we had our annual fundraiser at Katra. The atmosphere was perfect. I loved the gorgeous interior design of the place. The food & drinks were fabulous and our guests couldn't stop talk about the place. I highly recommend Katra a place to celebrate any occasion or to just stop by for a drink. Katra is definitely one of my top five favorite places in NYC! Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Drinks more

Had a BLAST for my Graduation Party 6/1/2010

I celebrated my graduation from grad school with other graduates and our friends. We had a great time, from the drinks to the food to the music....everyone had a blast. They were really really great, really took care of my girls and I. The owner Chris is a sweetheart and I when I left my jacket there, picked it up next day with no problem...and he even made sure to hand my camera off to my friend when I went home a little too happy to be celebrating. Overall everyone had a great time, especially myself. I had been there before for just a happy hour and it was nice, so now that we partied it up, I def plan to go back! Pros: good music, friendly and helpful staff Cons: got a little crowded more

Champagne Toast 5/26/2010

I recently hosted a Senior Champagne Toast at Katra for my medical school graduating class. The service was incredible. We bought souvenir champage flutes that the employees at Katra carried into the lounge and brought out for our toast. The toast was complimentary with the package we booked of 1 hour of passed hors d'oeurves for $15/person. The hors d'oeurves felt endless and they were delicious!!! We had the entire upstairs floor reserved for a 2 hour party and it was a very nice space. Only complaint was that the AC was blasting, so many of us were cold. I think Katra is a great and classy lounge to host a party of this nature with up to 150 people. Pros: Great Food, Great Service more

Best Surprise Party Ever! 5/26/2010

I had my boyfriend's surprise party here two weeks ago and it was the best experience ever. I read every review I could possibly find about a great place to throw a party in NYC and I ultimately decided on Katra for numerous reasons. First, the Manager Chris is AMAZING. I called him the Monday before the party and he helped me plan the surprise in such a way that my boyfriend had no idea that we were there for a party. Chris pretended to lose our reservation then asked my boyfriend a series of questions to distract him ("Is this your first date? Oh its your birthday! Thats great!, So you guys are just here for some drinks right?") all the while leading us over to our cabana located in front of the DJ booth. He quickly walked ahead, warned our group that we were right behind him with the birthday boy so that they could prepare to yell "Surprise!". Second, there is no cover charge. I arrived with my boyfriend at 11:30 on a friday night and there was no wait to get inside. The bouncers were nice and none of our 20+ guests had any problems getting inside. When the guests told them whose guestlist they were on the bouncers directed them to our cabana. Third, the DJ was really great and played Top 40s, hip hop, Reggae, Soca, etc. He also shouted out my boyfriend's birthday all night and shouted out our group multiple times because we were having such a good time. The DJ also invited us back Saturday night with a free bottle. Fourth, Chris gave us the best bottle service that I could find anywhere. We purchased Top shelf alcohol and he gave us a comped bottle of Top Shelf alcohol. Fifth, The waitress was super nice and helpful. When it was time to bring out the Grey Goose, she gave me a heads up that she was bringing it out so that we could get our cameras ready to take a picture of the Birthday Boy's face when he saw the sparklers. She cleared a path and the two bottles with sparklers instantly lit up the room and everyone stopped and stared to see who it was going (we pretty much looked like ballers). Once she reached our table we snapped a few photos but wanted more, so she brought out more sparklers and lit them again so that we could take more photos. By far one of the best moments of the night. She also brought us as much juice that we needed and the waitstaff were very prompt with clearing empty glasses and removing the bottles only after we finished it. All and all it was a great night and I could not have planned such a great night without the help of Chris (Thanks Chris!). All of our friends had a great time and stayed until it closed. I would def throw another party at Katra and I am actually returning this Friday for a graduation party. Pros: Great Bottle Deals, Chris the Manager, Great DJ Cons: A little crowded more

Great Service and Just Overall a Great Place 5/11/2010

I really like Katra and I have been coming here for the last two years for various Birthday Parties. Chris the owner has always taken care of us and that was no different last Sat. My friends party was booked by some promoter who messed up everything for us. Chris to the rescue and he took control and worked out a table and a comp Champagne for birthday people. The music rocked! Never go to R Bar again but thanks Katra for doing right thing for us Pros: Friendly Staff, Great Music and Food,Easy door Cons: Crowded more

Birthday/ Fund raiser 4/26/2010

My sister and I planned our joined birthday party/ fund raiser at Katra and it was a great decision. Planning was easy, no need for annoying guest lists. From the moment we got there, the owner was incredible, providing us with our own section then moving us up to the VIP lounge where our guests could socialize without full body contact. From start to finish, we were taken well care of and the whole staff was very attentive to the needs of my sister and I, as well as our guests. Very cool vibe all around and would definitely recommend for any party/event/fund raiser you may have! Pros: Great service, decent music more

The Lower East Side's Best Lounge 4/17/2010

Friday Nights at Katra are the best. I will prove it with a complimentary admission on Friday night. To get put on my guestlist or set up a party or Vip reservation contact me at brozio@yahoo or 917-651-7844 Pros: 2 Floors to party! more

Alright Lounge 4/17/2010

I went to Katra for the first time last night for my friend's birthday party. We had bottle service and was seated downstairs. I arrived a little after 12am and it was pretty packed already. We had a large group but our table only sat about 8 people. It was really crowded, but not to the point where we were packed like sardines. The DJ wasn't that great. He played Lady Gaga back to back, had poor transitions, random songs after one another (hip hop one second and then old school the next), played certain songs 3 times in a night, no remixing at all. Overall, didn't really enjoy the music. It kind of sobered me up because it wasn't that great. Although I didn't get to go to the upstairs area, I was told by my friends that the DJ was better than the one downstairs. Their martinis aren't bad, somewhat strong in fact. If you pay with card they include a 20% gratuity (not sure how common that is in NYC lounges/clubs). Wouldn't go back for the lounge, maybe the restaurant is worth giving a chance. more

Satisfied 2/22/2010

Definately 5 star! Service, food, more

Great food, nice ambiance, and good music! 2/20/2010

I have been here a few times and it is a very nice spot. The manager Chris is very attentive and tries to accommodate large parties. I love the look, and the food is very good (try the wings). I would definitely host a party here again! Pros: Nice place to lounge or dance Cons: There could be more seats more

Always a good choice 2/13/2010

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the Bowery. The food has consistantly been good and the servers are very attentive. The interior is a bit tight at times, mainly because it is so popular and filled with lively customers. There's a nice relaxed vibe and the prices are right. The drinks are good, too. more

Good Dinner 2/13/2010

Great foods and fairly cheap prices for good dishes compared to other restaurants (especially for a bowery place). I would not solely rely on Katra as a traditional Morracan restaurant though as they do not serve traditional morracan food, but if you just want to have somereally good food, then this place is really worth it. Don't go alone as you will not have as much fun as you were with few friends. They have great selections of wines as well. Pros: decor and service Cons: crowed at times more

The most fabulous, exciting time you will have!!!! I guarante 1/31/2010

I've been to Katra 6 times,(and counting) and each time was tremendous. The service is impeccable, they couldn't have hired a better staff. The music is awesome,& the crowd is great. I promise you will enjoy yourself! Go and when you do, tell them Tiffany sent you! I'm hooked, so I might just be there also...lol more

The original home of multi-millionaire athletes and glitterati, the crowd at Mission shifts throughout the week as this glitzy club features a variety of events. While some say the place is overpriced or somehow poorly located, it nevertheless has a great draw on the wildly-popular Bowery, and the beautiful decor and stylish surroundings guarantee a fun night out--albeit at a price.
