I went to Katra for the first time last night for my friend's birthday party. We had bottle service and was seated downstairs. I arrived a little after 12am and it was pretty packed already. We had a large group but our table only sat about 8 people. It was really crowded, but not to the point where we were packed like sardines.
The DJ wasn't that great. He played Lady Gaga back to back, had poor transitions, random songs after one another (hip hop one second and then old school the next), played certain songs 3 times in a night, no remixing at all. Overall, didn't really enjoy the music. It kind of sobered me up because it wasn't that great. Although I didn't get to go to the upstairs area, I was told by my friends that the DJ was better than the one downstairs.
Their martinis aren't bad, somewhat strong in fact. If you pay with card they include a 20% gratuity (not sure how common that is in NYC lounges/clubs). Wouldn't go back for the lounge, maybe the restaurant is worth giving a chance.
