Ghastly. 1/3/2012

Having visited the other location in Santa Monica a few times for fairly average sushi, I was ambling around Culver with a friend in search of something light to offset the holiday's munching... Please don't bother. I could barely believe that our order was wrong 3 times. The yellowtail red dot had no red dot. The toro sashimi was in fact a toro tartare, seared toro (no!) and the only teensy 3 other pieces were frozen solid! Not great for a $35 promise of 8 delectable slices. Worst still the staff were really sarcastic, teasing our accents and repeating what we said with a cruel tone. I will never, ever eat here again. more

great, family owned local sushi spot 3/23/2010

Had dinner at Kaizuka from a friend's recommendation. Not pretentious at all, but still romantic at night. Not too many people know about this place it seems, but it really is a gem! This restaurant is a little way out of the center of downtown culver city, but it's definitely worth the two blocks. (I recommend parking in the structure on cardeff and watseka) They have a really great trio appetizer sampler with their original agedashi tofu, asparagus wrapped in beef and spicy tuna on crispy rice. Had the chriashi for dinner which was very fresh and delicious! My husband had the black cod for dinner and he loved it. I live on the Westside but will definitely be making the drive down to try the rest of the menu! Pros: romantic, ambiance, great food, friendly more

Amazing Sushi Experience! 1/15/2010

I am a big sushi eater and I enjoy finding places a little less known. I definitely hit the mark when I stumbled on this place. The staff was friendly, service was great, sushi hit the spot and tasted good. I had a great time and will be going back often, even though it is a bit of a drive. Great price and good food who could ask for anything more. Highly recommended. Pros: Affordable, Friendly Cons: little bit of a drive for me more

one of the best sushi experiences ever! 8/28/2009

I took one of my close friends here for his birthday and it was amazing! Everything from the halibut carpaccio to the black cod app, and to the 3 rolls we ordered - it all melted in our mouths! The wait staff wa extremely courteous and fast. I told our waited that it was my friend's birthday and they, including the sushi chefs, came out an sang with an elaborate cake and fruit tray. I will definitely be coming back - and you can't beat the price! Pros: ambiance, parking, wait and sushi staff more

Great affordable sushi! 6/19/2008

This is the place where my sushi snob husband (who eat only top quality sushi like Nobu) wouldn't mind going. Everything here is fresh even the adamame. Spicy tuna on crispy rice is excellence, yellow tail jalapeno is always fresh. I had the best aji here and the decor is very nice and relaxing. more

Worst sushi I've ever had. 2/28/2008

The sushi was bland and certainly not fresh. I've had a lot of sushi... and I can definitely say that this was the worst I've ever had. The service was fine, but we were the only ones in the restaurant. My advise... go to Sushi King on Wilshire and 14th st. You won't be disappointed! Pros: No wait. Cons: bad sushi. played horrible sublime-like bands too loudly. more

Overall decent meal 4/27/2007

I'm a HUGE sushi eater, so I'm always trying out just about every sushi place. I drove passed by this one and decided it was another sushi place for me to try. The decor and ambience is very simple and plain...not their forte, but also not what's expected of the place. The first time I went there, my boyfriend and I shared an array of menu items...some sashimi (good quality), salmon skin salad (very good...little crunchy wontons on top made it perfect), some rolls (I think it's called Hiro roll...it has crunchy onions on the outside that added the perfect taste). Decent prices, good meal. Nothing spectacular, but good enough that I've gone back a handful of times. Pros: Food more

Sensational Sushi ! 3/3/2007

If you're looking for REAL sushi on the Westside, this is your spot! The fish is so fresh it will bring a smile to your face after the first bite. The ambience is great to enjoy an intimate dinner or sit at the bar and watch a master at work. The chef is a skilled artist who will leave you savoring every bite. The staff and service is great. You will definitely want to come back. I did. I've been 5 times and can't wait to treat myself again to the best sushi I've ever had in LA. more

BEST SUSHI!!! 3/2/2007

Just AMAZING! Don't know whatelse to say! I've been to this restaurant for about 4 times now and they've never dissapointed me and my boyfriend. I'd say the best sushi in town. Great sushi, great staff, great service, and great desserts too. We always wake up the next morning and say to each other, ""Man, last night's sushi was DELICIOUS!!!"" already wanna go back for more. more

Consistently Fresh 1/17/2007

Kaizuka has become my new regular sushi restaurant. Beyond the nice ambience, excellent service and moderately priced food, the most important aspect has been the quality of the fish. Having been to Kaizuka 8-10 times I have found that it's: ALWAYS FRESH! ALWAYS DELICIOUS! ALWAYS LEAVING ME WANTING TO COME BACK. The salmon is great, the red snapper is outstanding and everything else melts in the mouth. Pros: Quality of fish, ambience, service more

WOW, Absolutely Great! 11/21/2006

Downtown Culver City has been changed. After 7 years living in Culver City, we are finally having many nice restaurants in our neighbor. We went to see movies at the Saturday Night. So many people in the restaurant across from the theater. Some of them were still waiting. We decided to take a walk and found this KAIZUKA. They located next ""Starbucks"" little bit away from the theater. But their food was Excellent!! Services were good. From the way they talk with their customer, it seems they have a many morality customers. The witless told us that they've open for 1 year already and having many local customers. Their Spicy tuna with Crispy rice was wonderful. Chinese Chicken Salad is absolute the one you should try. Their special crunch roll and albacore roll are unspeakable. Beautiful presentation with nice amount of food and the price is affordable. Me and my husband only spend $45 including the sake.\r Nice accent in Culver City. Thank you Kaizuka!\r Pros: Affortable Price, Great Food, Large Dining, Friendly Services more

Best sushi! 11/21/2006

I just love their Sushi. I actually knew the sushi shef from other place he used work at, and I simply followed him since he's so good (& funny)!!! The restaurant is nice and cozy, and it's good that sushi bar is not too big, if you like the comfortalbe intimacy with other customers and the sushi shefs . It's on Culver Blvd, the heart of downtown Culver City with lots of romantic lights in the trees. You can also dine outside. If you go, you MUST try their red snapper. They do something a little different and it's just unbelievably good! Oh, and it's in walking distance from the movie theater, so it's perfect for a date too! Pros: Great food for great value. Seemed friendly to kids too. Cons: Street parking. Also, patio seats are hard to get on Friday nights. more

Great Food and Reasonable Price. My Favorite Local Place.!! 11/20/2006

I love Sushi, Japanese Dishes, and I love Sake!! KAIZUKA has amazing food and sake collections. Best Japanese Place in Culver City. Great Food + Reasonable Price + Friendly Services make them my favorite local place. I don't have to travel to Hollywood or Marina Del Ray to have Nice Cold Sakes and fresh fish anymore. Compare to the other Japanese Restaurant, their price is very reasonable including Sake. \r Echigo whici is the premium beer they carry is my favorite beer. Red Snapper Carpaccio served with Hawaiian Sea Salt is amazing. Beautiful Presentation. Easy to walk in. Cute Patio. Perfect Neighborhood Restaurant. more

Best sushi in the area! 11/15/2006

I was excited to finally have a sushi bar within walking distance from work. I was not dissapointed when they opened! Their sushi lunch specials are excellent and come with soup and salad, and the fish is really good. Their spicy tuna rolls are up there and their cuts of fish rival much more expensive sushi bars. Even their other items such as their Chinese chicken salad are excellent! When I worked in the area I used to come here several times a week. I loved it. If I move back to this area, I will definitely frequent it again. Pros: awesome local sushi Cons: no parking more
