Clean & Fresh Room 8/9/2011

he Kahler is adjacent to the famous Mayo Clinic . That in itself makes it easy to navigate your clinic appts. The housekeeping and front desk staff have a terrific sense of the fear many patients who stay there have about their clinic appts. They try very hard to meet everyone's specific requests. For those of us who are "germaphobes", housekeeping is very good at having the rooms clean and fresh. more

Exception Staff Thank You! 8/8/2011

Appreciate arranging the use of the wheelchair for my wife during her Mayo clinic visit. Your staff were great at helping me get luggage cart and wheelchair on our arrival. Having the convenience of the subway system was great. We also were able to get dinner from the on site restaurant, and they were able to call our room when it was ready. That is an excellent service, good food at a reasonable price. Would prefer a mini-suite, but I think they were all booked. The king size handicap accessible room was very adequate for our needs, but with the oxygen equipment we travel with, a little more room helps. Not sure of her name, but the woman who helped me get the luggage cart and wheelchair when we checked in on Sunday night was great. more

Comfortable beds 7/12/2011

We stayed at the Kahler Inn & Suites while going to doctors appointments at the May Clinic. The staff is all so friendly and accommodating - they bend over backwards to see to your every need. The rooms are nice and clean and the beds are comfortable. The exercise area is very nice as well. We'll definitely stay there again. more

Comfotable 7/11/2011

I have stayed at Kahler Inn and Suites in Rochester, Minnesota several times. I go to Rochester for medical trips to the Mayo Clinic. The Kahler Inn is across the street from the Clinic which is very helpful for those who have limited mobility. The staff is delightful and the hotel is accessible. I have become very good friends with persons at the hotel. The hotel is clean and I am very comfortable every time I arrive and stay for as long as a week or a couple of days. more

Excellent place to stay! Without a doubt. 7/6/2011

Love it! 7/5/2011

If you are in Rochester to visit the Mayo Clinic this is where you want to stay. It is conveniently connected directly to the clinic via the pedestrian subway. We were able to get to our appointments without going outdoors (during winter in MN) or having to wait for a shuttle or cab. Free parking in the attached garage is a plus. We stayed in a Queen Suite, which was roomy and comfortable (including the temperature) and reasonably priced. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Jimmy John's and Caribou Coffee right off the lobby -- gotta love that! I had heard about "Minnesota nice" -- here I experienced it. I would stay here again. more

Very Helpful 6/27/2011

We stayed at the Kahler Inn/Suites in Rochester, MN for 10 days because of an extended visit to nearby Mayo Clinic. We thought the hotel staff was very helpful and efficient (front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance), and would highly recommend this hotel for travelers looking for comfort, convenience and reasonable rates. The hotel also features a franchise coffee shop and restaurant at ground level as well as a delicious in-house breakfast option. The hotel is connected to the Mayo Clinic subway system, which lets you access Mayo buildings without going outdoors (important in a Minnesota winter). We will be making other shorter Mayo Clinic trips in the next several months, and will definitely use the Kahler Inn/Suites. more

Great Location 6/24/2011

Stayed in a mini-suite. Worked well for my father, brother and myself. Liked the layout and it worked well to have the bath/toilet separate from the sink. Also loved having Caribou coffee right off the lobby, as well as a Jimmy Johns sub shop and the parking. All things were close and convenient and truly eliminated stress of where to stay and how to get to the Mayo clinic. An easy corridor at the 'Subway' level provided simple access to the Mayo clinic. They were also gracious to allow us to keep our car in parking until our appt was done even after checking out that same day. Already recommended it to family for future stays. There's no doubt this is where we'll all be staying for future May clinic visits. Also would be great for Civic Center events as it's in a great location in Rochester. more

What more could you ask for 6/20/2011

We recently stayed at the Kahler Inn & Suites in Rochester, MN and have done so many times in the past throughout the years. The hotel is clean, staff very friendly and courteous, plus all the extras from having a pool, hot-tub, a great breakfast to start out every morning, and the convenience of a great location in downtown, what more could you ask for. more

Would not stay anywhere else 6/13/2011

The inn is clean, very helpful service, indoor parking, from room to Mayo's just a few minutes walk. Nice breakfast in the mornings. Would not stay anywhere else. more

Comfortable and Welcoming 5/24/2011

We stayed at the Kahler Inn and Suites for 4 days as we were seeking medical appointments and treatments at Mayo. The location was perfect with the underground subway which connected us to every place we needed to go. The dining room was excellent, the food as well as the service. The waitresses made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We enjoyed the extra room of a suite which came with a refrigerator, microwave, and toaster. We even rented a couple of movies from our room, We will come back to the Kahler Inn and Suites for our next appointments. more

Great stay! 5/17/2011

My spouse and I stayed for 3 nights to attend a conference. I changed the reservations from the conference hotel ( Doubletree ) because of value and a short budget. Kahler Inn and Suites provided a continental breakfast and 15$ less per night. For a 3 block walk, it was worth it. The inn and Suites is on the outer fringe of the Mayo campus and is connected to the other building thru a underground walkway which they call a 'subway'. It was nice to have the option in bad weather. The staff was courteous, the housekeeping was good quality. Their 'fitness and pool' area was minimal, but clean. Their sister site - the Kahler Grand Hotel - is definitely higher class as far as the lobby, stores, and personnel; however, a fellow attendee did confirm that their budget rooms are miniscule. The Inn and Suites rooms aren't much bigger, but every sf counts. I was able to utilize the Grand's business center as a Inn and Suite's client since the Inn's computer (which you have to pay for by the way) was down. After 4 days there, I was glad that I chose Inn and Suites. Doubletree, Grand, and a few others are larger and more modern but to me that isn't worth more of my money when I can get clean and convenient with decent staff for less. Less expensive hotels are available to the Mayo campus if you don't mind shuttles or long walks. more

Kahler Inn... I had a great time 5/10/2011

I had to go to Mayo Thursday and Friday for a procedure and wanted a place within walking distance of the Gonda Building at the Mayo Clinic. I was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews, but am glad I chose it. At $109 for a mini-suite with two double beds, it was cheaper than some of the other options. The hotel is clean and while not stylish, is certainly presentable. The room had a sofa, chair, kitchen table, sink and cupboards, dishes, microwave and small refrigerator/freezer, and two double beds. I brought food and snacks, so was glad to have the fridge and microwave and a place to wash dishes. The room was pretty, the hotel was quiet and I have no complaints about the stay. They are fixing the elevators that are really slow. As other reviewers noted, the parking garage is narrow, but it's an inconvenience that lasts minutes and then you're up in the hotel. Plus, parking is free. I loved being able to walk the block to the Mayo Clinic building I had to go to (the Gonda Building) and in bad weather you can go underground. The staff was friendly and the place was country charm decorated. more

Delivered as promised. 5/2/2011

This hotel delivered exactly what we expected at an affordable price. Free parking in the basement garage, free reliable internet at a reasonable speed, decent free breakfast. Right across the street from Mayo, connected underground. Caribou Coffee and Jimmy John's on site. The excercise area is on the 2nd floor and out in the open by the pool, games, and the breakfast area. There are 5 or 6 guest rooms which open out into this area; I would avoid them as you'll have people outside your door and window all day. We had a mini-suite on the 9th floor which included a fridge, microwave, and small sink. It was clean, quiet, and functional. Nothing fancy at this property, but they delivered as promised. We would stay here again if we needed to come back to Mayo. more

Very Impressed! 4/29/2011

This was my first visit to Rochester Minnesota, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the personnel and accommodations at the Kahler Inn and Suites. My wife and I were there for a visit to the Mayo Clinic, so the reason for the trip was somewhat stressful. The receptionist at the main desk was very helpful and courteous, and provided us our room, even though we were checking in at 1pm, instead of 3pm. Our room was very nice, a somewhat older décor, but clean and very comfortable. Our daily service person was Cheryl, and she did a great job. We have stayed at hotels where we have requested our room be serviced say in the morning, and have come back to find it not taken care of. This was not the case at the Kahler, as they have a tag that you place on the door, requesting service. Each day the room was serviced by the time we returned. I was very pleased with the service, accommodations and certainly the location to Mayo is a big benefit. The underground walkways to Mayo and the immediately surrounding buildings is impressive, and as this was February, the temperature was to 6 degrees Fahrenheit, on some days. I would highly recommend the Kahler Inn and Suites to folks staying in Rochester MN, and especially if you have business at the Mayo Clinics. more

Good Visit 4/27/2011

We felt at home here. All our needs were met.We were steps from Mayo Clinic.Anyone complaining needs to realize the overall value of this place. We will stay here again, if we are in town. You can't expect perfection, even at a high dollar hotel. Staff were caring. We found the fact that they were renovating a good thing. At least they weren't just letting it run down.No chance of going hungry with great complimentary breakfast.,Center street cafe, Jimmy John's, and Caribou Cafe. Also connected to shopping, and all the shops at Mayo.We had a good visit, and will refer Kahler Inn and Suites! more
